110.89.61.152: Mets Rally Past Rockies, 3

@@@
STATS RECAPS

&nbsp;
TOP SPOTS
NEW YORK (AP) - Curtis Granderson had a lot to live up to when he signed a $60 million, four-year contract with the Mets in the offseason.
For much of this year, though, it s been a struggle for the three-time All-Star after moving across town.
He came through on Monday night, hitting a tying triple off former-Met LaTroy Hawkins and scored two pitches later on Wilmer Flores sacrifice fly to give New York a 3-2 win that stopped the Colorado Rockies four-game winning streak.
Things may be looking up for Granderson, who has seven RBIs over his last four games hitting .400 during that stretch. Manager Terry Collins believes that the pressure of changing leagues and trying to fulfill a big contract may have gotten to him for a good portion of the season.
It is a little different game, different pitchers and a lot of <a href=http://architectscanterbury.co.uk/page.php?sale=Kate-Spade-Bud-Vase>Kate Spade Outlet</a> other things he is not used to, Collins said. He is swinging the bat good right now and that is good for us.
After Lucas Duda s RBI double in the first, Jordan Lyles, Tommy Kahnle, Brooks Brown and Christian Friedrich pitched shutout ball through the eighth.
Travis d Arnaud doubled leading off the ninth against Hawkins (3-3), who blew a save for the third time in 25 chances.
Granderson s triple past right fielder Charlie Blackmon scored pinch-runner Eric Young Jr. Granderson then scored easily ahead of Drew Stubbs off-line throw on Flores fly to center.
Carlos Torres (7-5) pitched a perfect ninth for the Mets, who wore camouflage jerseys as they started a 10-game homestand.
Michael Cuddyer tied the score in the second with his seventh home run. Activated before the game, Cuddyer had been on the disabled list since Aug. 24 because of a strained left hamstring, his third DL stint this season.
I was able to get a good pitch to hit and fortunately I didn t miss it, said Cuddyer.
Nolan Arenado homered off Vic Black s changeup on an 0-2 pitch leading off the eighth for a 2-1 lead.
I just threw a bad breaking ball to a guy that is a good hitter, said Black.
Mets starter Jonathon Niese allowed one run and eight hits in 6 2-3 innings, struck out seven and walked one. His curveball was hit or miss at times, but the 6-foot-3 left-hander made pitches when he needed to.
There was some that were good and some that were not so good, said Niese. Fortunately the good ones I was able to get outs on, and the bad ones they did <a href=http://www.cicviseu.net/page.php?sale=Jimmy-Choo-Online-Outlet>Jimmy Choo Online Outlet</a> not crush like they probably should have.
Lyles gave up one run and three hits in six innings.
Mets center fielder Juan Lagares ran into left-center and extended to make an outstanding backhand catch to rob Arenado of an extra-base hit with a runner on in the first.
Kahnle, a 25-year-old rookie from Latham, New York, pitched a perfect seventh for Colorado.
TRAINER S ROOM
Rockies: C Wilin Rosario, activated Sunday after a stint on the DL caused by left wrist inflammation, pinch hit in the seventh and remained in the game at catcher. He was 0 for 2. I m going to ease him in this series, Rockies manager Walt Weiss said before the game. I look at his situation a little bit different as a catcher. Blackmon and 1B Justin Morneau, who leads the NL with a .316 batting average, were not in the starting lineup. They ve been going at it pretty good, Weiss said. It seemed like a good time to give them a day.
Mets: 2B Daniel Murphy (strained right calf) is expected to be activated from the 15-day DL on Tuesday, according to Mets general manager Sandy Alderson.
UP NEXT
Rockies: Rookie RHP Christian Bergman (2-2) starts Tuesday and will be looking to win for the third time in four outings <a href=http://architectscanterbury.co.uk/page.php?sale=True-Religion-Aftershave>True Religion Aftershave</a> since returning from a broken left hand on Aug. 24.
Mets: RHP Jacob deGrom (7-6) faces Colorado for the first time. He has not allowed an earned run in 14 innings.
EXTRA, EXTRA
The Mets had six hits in the game, all for extra bases, marking the first time in franchise history that they had five or more hits and no singles.
KEEPING SCORE
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, tonight s matchup was Howie Karpin s 900th regular season game as official scorer dating back to September 13, 1998, at Yankee Stadium. A long-time fixture in New York-area press boxes, Karpin has also been the official scorer for three World Series games as well as the 2013 All-Star Game held at Citi Field.

110.89.61.152: Judge lifts order banning Baylor alumni building demolition

@@@
U.S. District Judge Walter Smith Jr.鈥檚 decision to dissolve the order follows a nine-hour mediation session Monday between Baylor, the Baylor Alumni Association, and the Chicago-area alumnus who obtained the restraining order ended without a resolution on the building鈥檚 future.
Kurt Dorr, who is described as a lifetime member of the BAA in legal documents, on Thursday amended his <a href=http://www.cicviseu.net/page.php?sale=Jimmy-Choo-Kitten-Heel>Jimmy Choo Kitten Heel</a> suit to seek at least $10 million in damages 鈥?$5 million minimum from Baylor and at least $5 million from Collin Cox and Elizabeth Coker, the current and former presidents of the BAA, respectively.
The judge鈥檚 Friday order gives Dorr up to seven days to announce whether he still intends to pursue the financial damages, or the case will be dismissed.
The Hughes-Dillard building has served as the headquarters for the Baylor Alumni Association since 1978.
鈥淲e鈥檙e disappointed in the judge鈥檚 decision to dissolve the (restraining order) and we are weighing our options and will proceed in a way that we feel is appropriate for our client and the mission he is on to save the (alumni center),鈥?said Waco attorney John Mabry, one of Dorr鈥檚 five lawyers.
Mabry declined to comment on whether Dorr would still continue to seek the monetary damages.
Baylor had planned to tear down the building earlier this month to clear way for what will eventually become a grassy plaza leading to a pedestrian bridge across the Brazos River that will connect the campus to the stadium, which is being built on the opposite riverbank.
鈥淲e鈥檙e obviously glad that this action has allowed us to continue to move forward on Baylor Stadium and the exciting progress there, as well as our future relationship with the alumni association,鈥?Baylor spokeswoman Lori Fogleman said.
Emotional connection
Fogleman added that the university understands the emotional connection alumni had to the building and the various historical items that were collected in the center. Baylor last month began relocating statues and markers from Hughes-Dillard to other campus facilities.
Dorr originally sought the restraining order, signed by Smith on July 2, to delay the demolition until the alumni association鈥檚 full membership could vote Sept. 7 on whether to turn the building over to Baylor.
Mabry said he hopes Baylor will hold off on the demolition until BAA members are allowed to weigh in on the project.
鈥淥nce you tear down the building, it鈥檚 gone,鈥?Mabry said. 鈥淵ou can鈥檛 unspill the milk.鈥?
Relinquishing the Hughes-Dillard building to Baylor was among a number of changes the university and BAA leaders agreed upon in an effort to mend what has become a contentious relationship between the entities beginning in the early 2000s.
Cox and members of BAA鈥檚 executive committee on May 30 voted for the association鈥檚 staff to vacate the building in June and move into administrative offices in Baylor鈥檚 Clifton Robinson tower.
The executive committee also approved a proposed transition agreement that would turn over most alumni outreach efforts to Baylor except for publication of the Baylor Line magazine, which the BAA has printed since 1948.
The agreement also would spur the creation of a independent Baylor Line Corp. to continue the magazine, an alumni advisory board to include some current BAA leaders, <a href=http://www.cicviseu.net/page.php?sale=Tory-Burch-Makeup-Bag>Tory Burch Makeup Bag</a> and a non-voting alumni seat on Baylor鈥檚 board of regents.
The BAA鈥檚 full membership is set to vote whether to approve the agreement on Sept. 7, a day before Baylor plans to terminate its existing licensing agreement that allows the BAA to perform alumni duties.
鈥淲e鈥檙e certainly pleased with the court鈥檚 actions and we鈥檙e looking forward to things moving forward,鈥?said J.D. Pauerstein, a San Antonio attorney who represented the BAA, Cox and Coker.
1994 agreement
Dorr鈥檚 suit charged that the demolition plans for the Hughes-Dillard building violated a <a href=http://www.cicviseu.net/page.php?sale=Red-Tory-Burch-Flats>Red Tory Burch Flats</a> 1994 agreement about the use of the building which states that Baylor can only reclaim the facility if it has a need for the space, no alternative location exists, and it pledges to provide a building of comparable size, condition, quality of location and 鈥╟onstruction.
Cox said in a July 10 federal hearing that Baylor has announced intentions to build a new facility to accommodate the Baylor Line staff in the 鈥╢uture.
Baylor regents last week announced a $17 million fundraising campaign for a new alumni events center that would be built next to the new stadium and include meeting rooms for special events. But it was unclear whether the building would include office space that would serve the Baylor Line employees.
Fogleman did not know when the Hughes-Dillard demolition would commence or whether the university would incur additional costs because of the delay. She did not know what date the demolition originally was supposed to begin this month.
Brian Nicholson, associate vice president of facilities, planning and construction for Baylor, previously said the university could have incurred as much as $300,000 in overtime costs if the project was delayed until the Sept. 7 vote.

110.89.61.152: Penn Dean Reveals Third Student Suicide Since End of Last Semester

In the wake of the high-profile suicides of Penn students Madison Holleran and Elvis Hatcher, Philadelphia magazine has learned that a third university student had committed suicide since the end of last semester. Dean Richard James Gelles of聽the university s School of Social Policy and Practice聽said he made no announcement through the university because he believes in the 鈥減rivacy concerns of the family 鈥?and the possibility of contagion.鈥?
While Gelles would not reveal the name of the student, he says he is revealing the suicide out of concern for student welfare.
The unnamed social policy graduate student, who committed suicide off campus over semester break, can now be added to the list of Penn students who recently committed suicide, including Holleran, a freshman who took her life on Jan. 17, and Hatcher, a sophomore <a href=http://www.radiorcs.com/page.php?sale=Kate-Spade-Zebra>Kate Spade Zebra</a> who killed himself just weeks later.

鈥淚 think though that we need to be mindful of our students and their mental health,鈥?said Gelles. 鈥淢ental health is a serious issue on every campus and Penn has a unique set of challenges. These are kids who are used to being the absolute best, and they get here and they鈥檙e surrounded, in a very competitive environment, by other kids who are accomplishing at least as much, if not more, and we need to respond to that.鈥?
Dr. T.J. Ghose, a professor in the School of Social Policy and Practice, says he agrees with the Dean鈥檚 decision not to name the student. But says that, 鈥渁s the university community responds to these suicides, the fact that there was a third student, who was one of our own, is important to acknowledge, so that can be part of the conversation.鈥?
Suicide researchers say the data shows that suicide tends to occur in clusters, and that publicity surrounding suicides can by people already suffering from suicidal thoughts, particularly among the young, leading to Gelles鈥?fear of 鈥渃ontagion.鈥?
Penn administrators responded to the deaths of Holleran and Hatcher by convening a mental health task force. That effort has fallen under .
Penn is <a href=http://www.avanttravel.com/page.php?sale=Cheap-Louboutin>Christian Louboutin Sale</a> also facing , the student mental health services provider. According to a story published Wednesday聽in the student newspaper, the Daily Pennsylvanian, students sometimes have to wait for a month or five weeks to see a counselor.
Several students, who wished to remain anonymous because of the stigma surrounding mental health care, have made the same claims about long waits at CAPS to me.
Gelles says the issue is one of awareness 鈥?of mental health issues, throughout society, and for Penn, the particular challenge faced by its student population.
鈥淭hese schools are so difficult to get into,鈥?he says. 鈥淎n A- isn鈥檛 good enough. Second violin isn鈥檛 good enough. Going to China isn鈥檛 good enough. You have to live with a native family and learn to speak Mandarin. You can鈥檛 make a mistake. And so you get here, and you鈥檝e never made a mistake, and being the best all your life earns you a spot in the middle here. It鈥檚 tough for an 18-year-old brain to take, and I think we have to create room for experimentation, for people to not feel that they have to be perfect. That ought to be across your whole life.鈥?
As of press time, Penn had not responded to <a href=http://www.avanttravel.com/page.php?sale=Tory-Burch-Tall-Boots>Tory Burch Tall Boots</a> a request for comment.

110.89.61.152: More US families own cats than stocks

@@@
(Photo: KCPQ-TV)
NEW YORK A lot more American families own cats than individual stocks.
Despite the sizzling stock market, Americans remain cool to the idea of having direct exposure to the companies benefiting from the economic recovery.
According to new stats from the Federal Reserve, just 13.8% of U.S. families held stocks as of 2013. That s down from nearly 18% in 2007 before the market meltdown.
After experiencing severe losses in 2007 and 2008, investors with smaller portfolios have become more cautious, said Lena Haas, senior vice president of retirement, investing and savings at E*Trade Financial.
While less <a href=http://www.museosangennaro.com/Public/wdluk.php>Cheap Christian Louboutin</a> than 14% of families directly held stocks in 2013, 30% of households own at least one cat, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association.
It s not just that Americans are less willing to hold an individual stock like Apple or ExxonMobil. Even indirect stock ownership, which includes investing via mutual and pension funds and 401(k) plans, is in decline.
The Fed said direct and indirect stock ownership slipped to 48.8% in <a href=http://capstone.edu.sg/images/guccioutlet.onlinesalecc.php>Gucci Outlet</a> 2013, down from 53.2% in 2007.
The decline in stock ownership helps explain why many Americans haven t felt the bull market in stocks, which is now more than 2,000 days old.
The S P 500, the most closely watched U.S. equity index, has soared 200% since bottoming out in March 2009.
That helps explain why the Fed said the mean value of stock holdings increased from $228,300 in 2010 to $269,900 in 2013. Those who do have money in the market are getting richer.
Some struggling American families may have been forced to cut their exposure to stocks to help pay the bills. The Fed said stock ownership among lower income households declined between 2010 and 2013.
On the other hand, higher-earning families are pouring extra cash into stocks. The report showed the top income group boosted its stock ownership rate to 92% from 88% in 2010.
Haas said E*Trade clients with less than $1 <a href=http://www.avanttravel.com/michaelkorssonline.php>Michael Kors uk</a> million in their portfolios are increasingly shying away from ownership of individual stocks in favor of mutual funds and exchange-traded funds, or ETFs.
People are thinking about reaching longer-term financial goals and approaching it in a disciplined way rather than trying to become the best stock picker, said Haas.
That more cautious mentality could be a silver lining of the financial crisis, which caused many investors to lose more than half their portfolios.
When investors try to pick individual stocks, they often get into a very emotional cycle where they buy when the stock is rising and they sell out of fear when the stock is going down, said Haas.

Farm manure threatens Lehigh watershedThe state requires management plans but does little in terms <a href=http://www.alportico.net/page.php?sale=Women-Gucci-Sneakers>Women Gucci Sneakers</a> of enforcement.Jamie and Glenda Pini have goats, cows, sheep, pigs, chickens and turkeys (EMILY PAINE, THE MORNING )July 27, 2014|By Andrew Brown, Of The Morning CallJamie and Glenda Pini stood in the pasture of their small farm, among a herd of rambunctious goats, several large Angus cattle, and a pile of manure. The Pinis' farm, off Route 100, north of Interstate 78, where highways and warehouses transition to rolling country roads and fields of corn and oats, is small compared with most farms in Pennsylvania. For the past 10 years, the couple has raised a small number of cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, chickens and turkeys on their 28 acres. The Pinis began farming after Jamie Pini had emergency open heart surgery. They hoped the lean, grass-fed beef and mutton they raised would help lower his cholesterol and blood pressure, keeping him out of the hospital.Besides the meat they consume themselves, they sell a small amount to neighbors and friends.Their operation is simple. They pride themselves on the health of their animals and the preservation of their land. But as they found out last year, their New Tripoli area farm was in violation of manure management rules administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. They were approached by an official from the Lehigh County Conservation District and asked to attend an educational workshop, where the Pinis realized they needed to track how they store, transport and use the manure that their livestock produce."That was complete news to me," Jamie Pini said. "I didn't know I needed a plan."Pennsylvania's manure management rules have been on the books since the 1970s, and larger farms have been held to them. But like Jamie and Glenda Pini, many small Pennsylvania farmers are unaware that the rules exist, according to farmers, conservation agents and environmental advocates.Without such plans, many small farmers have no guidance on how to prevent manure, soil, and commercial fertilizers from leaching into streams and groundwater, leaving bodies of water throughout the state vulnerable to agricultural pollution.Amanda Witman, a DEP spokeswoman, said manure management plans are required, but admitted the department does little to enforce them. It doesn't collect the plans, doesn't track how many farms actually have plans, and has no requirement to inspect <a href=http://www.avanttravel.com/page.php?sale=Michael-Kors-Island-Perfume>Cheap Michael Kors Online</a> farms regularly. Farmers are supposed to keep the plans on record, but environmental protection officials only ask to see them if there is an environmental complaint about the farm, Witman said. And even then, farmers are rarely held to the plans' requirements, according to county conservation district employees."I don't think a lot of people realize why these plans are needed or important," said Robert Maiden, executive director of the Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts. "It's all about water quality."In Pennsylvania, nearly 5,705 miles of polluted streams and rivers are linked to agricultural pollution, making agriculture the most widespread pollution source in the state, according to the DEP's 2012 Integrated Water Quality Report. And according to the report, agricultural runoff kills more aquatic life in Pennsylvania lakes than any other pollutant.Manure management plans, which are tailored for each farm, are meant to reduce the <a href=http://www.alportico.net/page.php?sale=Gucci-Fedora-Hat>Gucci Fedora Hat</a> amount of soil and nutrients nitrates and phosphates that enter streams and rivers throughout the state. The plans reduce the nutrient runoff from farms by outlining best management practices, such as separating barnyards and manure pits from streams, leaving barriers of vegetation between plowed fields and stream banks, measuring the amount of manure and commercial fertilizer spread on fields, and fencing animals away from wetlands and bodies of water.Sediment and nutrient pollution can kill aquatic life by reducing oxygen levels in the water, creating aquatic dead zones. Over the past couple of decades, many of the United States' most iconic bodies of water have suffered from increased nutrient pollution, including the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River Delta, according to the U.S. Department of Environmental Protection. In the Chesapeake Bay the United States' largest estuary and the destination for most of Pennsylvania's water nutrient pollution has killed crabs, aquatic vegetation and fish by creating giant algae blooms that deprive sea life of oxygen. The bay's oyster population has been reduced to less than 1 percent of historic levels for two decades, according to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. And here in the Lehigh Valley, agricultural sources continue to be one of the largest contributors to local stream pollution.More workshopsAccording to the 2012 DEP report, agricultural pollution is associated with more than 97 miles of polluted streams in the Lehigh Watershed, which includes Coplay Creek and Little Lehigh Creek, and another 41 miles in the Middle Delaware-Musconetcong Watershed that includes Schoeneck Creek in Palmer Township and Deer Run in Bucks County.1 | | | Featured ArticlesMore:

At first, when the driver who hit Russell stopped to see if he was OK, the dog seemed not badly hurt, Cami said. She was glad they stopped to <a href=http://www.radiorcs.com/page.php?sale=Kate-Spade-Jacket>Kate Spade Shoes</a> check, but she did not get their names.Unfortunately at that point, she could not see Russell's crushed ribs or twisted jaw. The cherished pet died in her son's arms on the way to the vet. We haven't stopped crying. We loved him dearly, he was part of our family. I am in pain and feel lost without him. Russell was an amazing dog and was loved by people who knew him. What a great loss, Cami said in a letter to the commissioners in which she requested to speak at the meeting. She asked the commissioners to make changes on that stretch of road to avoid a similar, or worse, tragedy. Next time it could be a person, she said.Commissioners agreed it's a <a href=http://www.radiorcs.com/page.php?sale=Kate-Spade-Book>Kate Spade Book</a> place where cars often speed. But the speed limit was reduced long ago to 35 mph, the lowest it can be on the state-maintained road, Commissioner David Bond said. It's widely known that the area is very dangerous, he said. Residents end up taking the long way around on Mechanicsville Road to avoid the intersection, where there was a school bus accident with injuries last year. It's a time bomb and it's not going to get better, he said.In her letter, Cami suggested a traffic light at the <a href=http://www.avanttravel.com/page.php?sale=Michael-Kors-Hamilton-Bag>Michael Kors Factory Outlet</a> intersection. She also suggested naming a street after her amazing dog. Bond suggested the spot be made a three-way stop.Morgan agreed the stretch needs attention. Consequently, South Whitehall will reach out to the state Transportation Department to see what opportunities are available, she said.Mariella Miller is a freelance writer.

The theme of Week 1 of the NFL was no lead was safe.聽 Several teams on Sunday had two-possession or better leads only for their opponents to come back and at least make a game of it.聽 As much as fans hate preseason football, Week 1 shows why it is a necessary evil. There were blocked punts, blocked field goals, and poor clock management by coaches and players alike.聽
For all the mistakes and miscues, the games were still exciting.聽 In the excitement there were a few surprises that stood out.聽 Here are the top five surprises from Week 1.
:
Okay, for most people it is no surprise that Romo had a poor game.聽 However, it is a surprise that he did it so early.聽 Romo usually waits till the game is on the line to throw <a href=http://www.alportico.net/page.php?sale=True-Religion-Jeans-Website>Mens True Religion Jeans</a> an ill-advised pass.聽 On Sunday, he appeared to just want to force the ball to no matter what the coverage was around him.聽 He normally gets fans hopes up and then lets them down.聽 Maybe this season he will start poorly and work his way to elite play late in the season.聽
:
Fantasy general managers everywhere are putting in wavier claims on Hurns.聽 He was an undrafted free agent out of Miami.聽 In the first half against the Philadelphia <a href=http://www.radiorcs.com/page.php?sale=Jimmy-Choo-Jelly-Sandals>Jimmy Choo Jelly Sandals</a> Eagles he looked like a Pro Bowl veteran.聽 He had four catches, 110 yards receiving, and two touchdowns.聽 Unfortunately, in the second half the Eagles made an adjustment and he was unable to help his team not blow a 17-point lead.聽
Miami Dolphins:
The Dolphins came out on defense; they got a three-and-out, blocked a punt, and capitalized on good field position to score a touchdown.聽 It appeared after that everything returned to normal and the New England Patriots would win the game easily.聽 However, these Dolphins didn鈥檛 quit.聽 did the heavy lifting rushing for 134 yards and a touchdown.聽 The defense harassed causing him to fumble twice.聽 Those fumbles helped the Dolphins come back and defeat the Patriots.聽
Terrance West:
was supposed to be the big pickup that the Cleveland Browns brought in to improve their running game.聽 He was okay on Sunday with six carries for 41 yards but got hurt. <a href=http://www.alportico.net/page.php?sale=True-Religion-Men-Jeans>Wholesale True Religion Jeans</a> Third-round pick West entered the game and showed what he could do.聽 He ran for 100 yards on 16 carries.聽 He definitely showed that he is capable of carrying the load if need be.聽
:
Brown took putting your best foot forward to another level.聽 While returning a punt he attempted to jump over the punter and instead did his best Anderson Silva impersonation and kicked him in the face.聽 When Brown was not showing off his martial arts skills he was catching five passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns helping the Pittsburgh Steelers secure a win.聽聽

@@@
Plans for a new MetroLink station within the Cortex technology district in the Central West End leaped ahead with the announcement Tuesday of a federal grant for the project. Most of the $10.3 million grant from the Department of Transportation will go to complete the design and then build a light-rail station just east of Boyle Avenue. The site is adjacent to a public plaza, called Cortex Commons, that is under construction锘?Officials hope to open the Cortex station by March 1, 2017. Also funded by the grant is a project to expand passenger capacity of the Central West End MetroLink station, the light-rail system鈥檚 busiest.Karin Hagaman, director of project development for Cortex, said both stations might <a href=http://www.alportico.net/gosoc.php> true religion sale</a> get new platform canopies of a 鈥渟ignature鈥?design. Also included in the grant is construction of a bikeway between Boyle and Sarah avenues. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., whose office announced the grant, noted the competitive nature of such funding, known as Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery program, or TIGER grants. In a statement, McCaskill said that for this year鈥檚 round of funding, the department got 797 funding applications totaling $9.5 billion, 15 times the $600 million available. Also announced Tuesday is a $10 million TIGER grant for the $56.3 million project to build a 锘縃ighway 47 bridge over the Missouri River in Washington.TIGER grants for the MetroLink projects go to the Metro transit system, which is directing the work. Plans call for the Cortex station鈥檚 passenger platform to be built between 锘縯he eastbound and westbound tracks.Earlier funding plans for the station got entangled in a series of state budget disputes between Gov. Jay Nixon, a Democrat, and the Republican-led Legislature. In June, Nixon withheld funding for numerous projects, including the Cortex MetroLink station.Hagaman <a href=http://capstone.edu.sg/images/guccioutlet.onlinesalecc.php>Gucci Outlet Store</a> said the Cortex station will 锘縡urther development of the technology district.

110.89.61.152: Enterovirus D68 cases now being investigated in 12 states

@@@
(CNN) Respiratory illnesses caused by an enterovirus are sending hundreds of children to hospitals throughout the Midwest and Southeast, health officials say.
Twelve states are reporting clusters of enterovirus illness: Alabama, Colorado, Michigan, Georgia, Ohio, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Kentucky and Utah.
Four of those states Colorado, Illinois, Missouri and Iowa have confirmed cases of Enterovirus D68, also known as EV-D68.
Enteroviruses, which can cause a variety of symptoms, aren t unusual. If you ve ever had a bad summer cold, it was likely caused by an enterovirus. The CDC estimates there are 10 to 15 Shop Jimmy Choo million viral infections each year in the United States. The season often hits its peak in September.
It s important to remember that these infections are very common, said Dr. Anne Schuchat, assistant surgeon general for the U.S. Public Health Service and the director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases.
But this particular type of enterovirus EV-D68 is less common. And health officials are concerned by the number of hospitalizations it has caused this year.
It s worse in terms of scope of critically ill children who require intensive care. I would call it unprecedented. I ve practiced for 30 years in pediatrics, and I ve never seen anything quite like this, said Dr. Mary Anne Jackson, division director for infectious diseases at Children s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
Staff members noticed an initial spike on August 15, Jackson said.
It could have taken off right after school started. Our students start back around August 17, and I think it blew up at that point, Jackson said.
Many of the children who are being hospitalized have a history of asthma or wheezing, says Dr. Christine Nyquist, medical director of infection control at Children s Hospital Colorado. EV-D68 seems to exacerbate any breathing problems that aren t under control with medication.
Children s Hospital Colorado has seen a 12% to 15% increase in emergency room visits and admissions this month compared with the same time frame last year, Nyquist said. The hospital sent 25 samples to the CDC from patients with respiratory illness. Around 75% were confirmed to be EV-D68.
On Monday, the CDC confirmed that 11 samples it tested from children who had been hospitalized in Chicago tested positive for EV-D68. Nineteen of the 22 specimens sent to the CDC from Tory Burch Handbags Outlet Kansas City also showed signs of the virus, meaning there is likely a regional outbreak.
The Iowa Department of Public Health confirmed that EV-D68 cases have been identified in that state. Officials are hearing of illnesses across the state, they say, though there is not a firm count of how many people have been infected.
EV-D68 was first identified in the 1960s, and there have been fewer than 100 reported cases since that time. But it s possible that the relatively low number is due to the fact that the CDC doesn t require health departments to track EV-D68.
It s one that we don t know as much about as we would like, Schuchat said.
EV-D68 was seen last year in the United States and this year in various parts of the world. Over the years, clusters have been reported in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Arizona and various countries, including the Philippines, Japan and the Netherlands. Health officials don t know why the enterovirus has created such a problem this year.
That s the scary part the unpredictability, I think, Nyquist said.
The unusually high number of hospitalizations reported could be just the tip of the iceberg in terms of severe cases, said Mark Pallansch, a virologist and director of the CDC s Division of Viral Diseases. As states continue to send samples to the CDC, the public health agency will get a clearer picture of the number of viral infections being caused.
In the meantime, parents should be on the lookout for signs that their child is having difficulty breathing. Other common symptoms of the virus include coughing, fever and rash.
It s important to make sure your children with asthma are on their medicines and keeping up with their medication routine, Schuchat said.
Like other enteroviruses, EV-D68 appears to spread through close contact with infected people.
To reduce the risk of infection, wash your hands often True Religion Cargo Pants with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after changing diapers. Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands, and avoid contact with people who are sick. Disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as toys and doorknobs, and stay home when you feeling under the weather to avoid infecting others.

110.89.61.152: MARSHALL, Mich.- GOP in uphill battle in Michigan US Senate fight

@@@
MARSHALL, Mich. Not so long ago, Republicans were giddy about winning U.S. Senate control in part by picking up a prized seat in Michigan held for more than three decades by a retiring Democratic lion, Sen. Carl Levin. They had good reason. Michigan voters had given the GOP control of the statehouse and governor's office, and conservative organizations prepared to deluge the state's airwaves. But as midterm elections loom, the optimism has become a salvage operation for the GOP candidate, Terri Lynn Land.On the surface, she might have seemed an ideal Republican candidate. Pro-business, Land has won statewide office twice, as secretary of state. But she has been tripped up by lackluster public appearances, polling concerns and dwindling outside financial support."She hasn't made a strong impression," said Bob LaBrant, a Republican and former chief lobbyist for the GOP-heavy Michigan Chamber of Commerce, which endorsed Land. The situation in Michigan seems to underscore the difference in skill sets between those required for campaigning, and those needed for governing."She'd make a better senator than she does a campaigner," Jackson County GOP committee member Leland Prebble said after a small Republican reception for Land last week. "Peters is a better campaigner."U.S. Rep. Gary Peters is no <a href=http://www.museosangennaro.com/Public/wdluk.php>Louboutin Shoes UK</a> runaway favorite. But the three-term Democratic congressman from suburban Detroit has led Land in nearly every reliable public opinion poll since April.Well-known within the party having risen through its ranks, Land has not often put herself in front of large audiences of undecided voters, as the state's moderate Republican governor Rick Snyder has in his quest for a second term.On a bus tour through southern and western Michigan last week, she met with small groups of supporters and businesses, before addressing the Republican faithful in her home region of Kent County in GOP-heavy western Michigan. In May, Land walked away from a gaggle of reporters when pressed on her position on the auto industry bailout, after giving a lackluster speech to influential business and political leaders on Mackinac Island, and ultimately did not answer. Two weeks ago, she spoke from prepared notes and used a teleprompter <a href=http://www.avanttravel.com/michaelkorssonline.php> michael kors handbags</a> to give her speech to the Michigan Republican Convention. In contrast, Snyder strode on stage with a microphone in hand instead of notes.Examination of television advertisement spending in the race shows that Land drew $14 million in outside group spending to assist her through June, but that it has dropped off sharply since. That's forced Land to spend more of her own personal wealth to fill the void until the fall campaign. And now, with just two months until Election Day, outside groups that endorsed her are putting far less behind her effort. Some are moving their campaign investments to other races.Senate Republicans need to gain six seats to assume the majority. They feel the goal remains within their grasp, given five Democratic retiring veterans, including Levin. But a number of moves by outside groups suggest Michigan has fallen as a GOP priority, unlike Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Louisiana and North Carolina. And despite American Crossroads reserving $800,000 in advertising for a week in September, Peters and allied groups are on pace to vastly outspend Land in the race's final weeks.Americans for Prosperity, the flagship group of billionaire conservative brothers Charles and David Koch, stopped advertising for Land this summer, after spending $5.1 million in ads supporting her through June, but describing the race as "an uphill climb."Likewise, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which endorsed Land, ran $400,000 in ads, but has not since June. The most recent red flag for Land came last month when Freedom Partners, a group associated with the Kochs, canceled an $878,000 ad purchase that was to run in Michigan throughout August."There is a high interest in return on investment," James Davis of Freedom Partners said. "We make decisions based on the most effective use for each dollar at that time."Since then, Americans for Prosperity, for instance, has reinforced its advertising presence in Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado and <a href=http://www.alportico.net/prodotti/christianlouboutin-sale.jkmsw.php>Christian Louboutin Heels</a> Louisiana Senate races.Land, who has already contributed more than $3 million of her own, declined to say if she'll be forced to spend more of her own money to keep up."You need to invest what you're capable of," Land said in an Associated Press interview in Marshall. "We're going to work hard and do that."Hesitant to say so publicly, some Michigan and national GOP officials say Land was not their first choice. They tried recruiting U.S. Reps. Mike Rogers or Dave Camp, after Land put her name forward last year.Land told supporters during a campaign trip to small businesses, farms, campaign offices and small groups of supporters that the race would be close, and that she would gut it out with their help."A lot can stop Michigan from being in play, but we've made it in play," Land told about 60 campaign supporters and volunteers in Ann Arbor last Tuesday.Land zipped from curb to curb down the parade route in Romeo shaking hands, smiling and waving in the Labor Day sun during the picturesque southeast Michigan's annual Peach Festival parade. But she can also come across as businesslike at times in a pursuit that requires a certain amount of interpersonal comfort with strangers."I think she could use a little more eloquence," Dan Valascho, a Republican Land supporter from Grosse Ile said. "But that's hard to teach."

110.89.61.152: FERGUSON, Mo.- Ferguson reforms met with rancor at city meeting

@@@
FERGUSON, Mo. Efforts by city leaders in the St. Louis suburb where an unarmed black 18-year-old was fatally shot by a white police officer to repair the local government's fractured relationship with its residents got off to a rocky start Tuesday at the first public meeting of elected officials since Michael Brown's death. The shooting last month exposed an undercurrent of racial unrest in Ferguson and other nearby suburbs in mostly black communities of north St. Louis County and prompted days of sometimes violent protests. The Ferguson City Council announced a set of proposals this week that include reducing the revenue from court fines used for general city operations and reforming court procedures. Critics say reliance on court revenue and traffic fines to fund city services more heavily penalizes low-income defendants who can't afford private attorneys and who are often jailed for not promptly paying those fines. The city also plans to establish a citizens' review board to help guide the police department.Within minutes of the start <a href=http://www.museosangennaro.com/Public/wdluk.php>Christian Louboutin Shoes Sale</a> of Tuesday night's meeting where the proposals were being discussed several demonstrators stood up and shouted as the council tried to cover some routine business. Later, others stood up and chanted, "Shut it down!" while raising their hands in the air. Protesters have used the gesture because several witnesses say Brown had raised his hands as officer Darren Wilson shot him.The first speaker to take the microphone during the public comment period said he was there for the mayor's job. It was a theme echoed throughout, as speaker after speaker expressed doubt about the city's planned reforms and anger at the government officials seated on the podium."You've lost your authority to govern this community," said St. Louis activist John Chasnoff. "You're going to have to step aside peacefully if this community is going to heal."The meeting exactly one month after Brown's death was the council's first public session since he was killed. It was held in a local church to accommodate a crowd of several hundred who had to walk through metal detectors at entrances guarded by a heavy police presence. The U.S. Justice Department announced last week that it was launching a broad investigation into <a href=http://capstone.edu.sg/images/gucciusaonlineoutlet.php>gucci outlet</a> the Ferguson Police Department, looking for patterns of discrimination. That inquiry is separate from the one into Brown's death, which a local grand jury is also investigating.Ferguson, a city of 21,000, is about 70 percent black. Its 53-member police department has just three black officers. The mayor and five of the six City Council members are white.A 2013 report by the Missouri attorney general's office found that Ferguson police stopped and arrested black drivers nearly twice as often as white motorists, but were less likely to find contraband among the black drivers. In the last fiscal year, court fines and fees accounted for $2.6 million, or nearly one-fifth <a href=http://www.museosangennaro.com/Public/wdluk.php>Louboutin Shoes UK</a> of the city budget. That's nearly twice as much as the city collected two years earlier.Councilman Mark Byrne said before the meeting that the goal of the proposed changes "is to improve trust within the community and increase transparency."Police have said the shooting of Brown came followed a scuffle after Wilson told Brown and a friend to move out of the street and onto a sidewalk. Autopsies concluded Brown was shot at least six times.Earlier Tuesday, Brown's parents joined about 20 supporters and activists at a press conference outside police headquarters to reiterate calls for Wilson's immediate arrest. Also Tuesday, a St. Louis County family court judge denied the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's request for any juvenile records Brown might have had. It's not known if Brown had such a record, and a juvenile court system lawyer said at a hearing last week that Brown never was convicted of a serious felony such as murder or burglary.---Associated Press writer Nigel Duara contributed to this report.

110.89.61.152: Rebels sold Steven Sotloff’s location to ISIS for thousands, family rep says

@@@
Steven Sotloff
(CNN) The family of slain American hostage Steven Sotloff believes ISIS paid as much as $50,000 to rebels who alerted the militant group that the journalist had entered Syria, a spokesman told CNN.
The family had learned from sources on the ground that a member of a moderate rebel group reached out to ISIS, Barak Barfitold told CNN s Anderson Cooper 360 on Monday.
Somebody at the border crossing made a phone call to ISIS, and they set up a fake checkpoint with many people, Barfi said. Steve and his people that he went in with could not escape.
Barfi said the tipster was one of the so-called moderate rebels that people want our administration to support.
So how much was the tip worth?
Sotloff s whereabouts were sold for something between $25- and $50,000, Barfi said.
False accusations
Sotloff, a 31-year-old freelance journalist, disappeared during a reporting trip to Syria in August 2013. Barfi said last saw his friend off the morning he disappeared.
Minutes before he was kidnapped, he called me from inside Syria to tell me that he was in, Barfi said.
Sotloff was supposedly turned over because his name was on a list of people responsible for a hospital bombing, his friend said.
This was false. Activists spread his name around, Barfi told Cooper.
In fact, Steve <a href=http://architectscanterbury.co.uk/page.php?sale=True-Religion-Dress>True Religion Dress</a> loved the Arab and Islamic world, and he wanted to bring their suffering to the world stage, Barfi said. He believed that everybody was created equal, and the people in the Arab and Islamic world weren t terrorists, they were just people like you and me.
Was the beheading preventable?
The gruesome video of an ISIS militant decapitating Sotloff spurred international outrage at ISIS, the Islamist terror group that refers to itself as the Islamic State. The group is trying to establish strict Islamist rule over swaths of Syria and Iraq and has captured cities in <a href=http://www.cicviseu.net/page.php?sale=Jimmy-Choo-Pocketbooks>Jimmy Choo Pocketbooks</a> both countries.
But that video wasn t the first time Sotloff was featured in an ISIS message.
Sotloff appeared in the earlier decapitation video of James Foley, another American journalist who was beheaded by an ISIS militant. In that video, a militant said Sotloff s life depended on what President Barack Obama did next.
Once Steve appeared in that video, the Sotloff family made one simple request of the administration and they were rebuffed on that, Barfi told CNN. He declined to elaborate on the request, citing the safety of those who are still being held hostage.
He said the relationship between the Sotloff family and the White House was very strained.
We do not believe they gave us the cooperation (the family needed), he said.
National Security Council spokeswoman Caitlin Hayden said the administration is still committed to the cases of Sotloff and Foley.
We understand the very real pain the Sotloff family is feeling at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they grieve Steven s loss, Hayden said.
We condemn the murders of Steven and Jim Foley and we remain committed to bringing the perpetrators of these crimes to justice.
But Barfi also lamented the release of information about an unsuccessful U.S. commando raid this summer that attempted to free Foley, Sotloff and others.
We know that the intelligence community and the White House are enmeshed in a larger game of bureaucratic infighting, and Jim and Steve are pawns in that game. And that s not fair, Barfi said.
If there continues to be leaks, the Sotloff family will have to speak out to set the record straight.
Up to $10 million reward
A group of bipartisan senators introduced a bill Monday that would authorize up to $10 million for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in the Foley <a href=http://architectscanterbury.co.uk/page.php?sale=True-Religion-Nordstrom>Cheap True Religion Jeans Uk</a> and Sotloff abductions and beheadings.
James Foley and Steven Sotloff nobly risked their lives in the pursuit of truth, and the United States will not stand idly by after two of its own were brutally murdered at the hands of fundamentally evil and freedom-hating extremists, Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Florida, said in a statement.
Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-New Hampshire, echoed that sentiment.
James and Steven contributed greatly to the world through their reporting, and we must vigorously pursue those responsible for their murders.

@@@
Attorneys for the BAA, the university and Chicago-based alum Kurt Dorr gathered at an undisclosed location in hopes of reaching an agreement about the fate of the building, which Baylor planned to demolish this month as part of construction plans for the new on-campus football stadium.
Waco Attorney John Mabry, one of five <a href=http://architectscanterbury.co.uk/page.php?sale=Christian-Louboutin-Altadama>Christian Louboutin Altadama</a> lawyers for Dorr, declined to comment on the mediation, citing an order U.S. District Judge Walter Smith Jr. issued Friday barring the parties from discussing any of the negotiations.
鈥淢ediation was conducted today as ordered by the court, and the next step is to report back to Judge (Walter) Smith,鈥?Mabry said.
The Hughes-Dillard building long has served as the headquarters for the alumni association. The BAA membership is set to vote Sept. 7 on a proposed transition agreement that would turn over alumni outreach functions to Baylor except publishing of the Baylor Line magazine.
Dorr, who described <a href=http://www.cicviseu.net/page.php?sale=Tory-Burch-Fashion>Tory Burch Fashion</a> himself in court documents as a lifetime member of the BAA, successfully obtained a temporary restraining order to delay the demolition and is pushing to postpone it until the Sept. 7 vote.
His attorneys have argued that both the agreement and the planned demolition violate contracts the association and Baylor entered into in the mid-1990s granting the organization perpetual use of the building and giving it the right to serve as Baylor鈥檚 official alumni association.
Baylor <a href=http://www.cicviseu.net/page.php?sale=Tory-Burch-Sandles>Tory Burch Flip Flops</a> has said the Hughes-Dillard site is needed as part of a grassy plaza leading to a pedestrian bridge across the Brazos River connecting the campus to the football stadium on the opposite riverbank.
Mabry said he did not know whether the meeting with Smith would be a formal public hearing.

110.89.61.152: Sports Out West Alec Martinez and the Stanley Cup

Can anyone doubt that Los Angeles Kings defenseman Alec Martinez earned his Day with the Cup? After all, he scored the game winning goal both in the Conference Finals and the actual Stanley Cup Finals both in overtime, by the way.
Let s start by reliving those two goals.
Alec Martinez s Game Winners
For (yet another) <a href=http://www.radiorcs.com/page.php?sale=Jimmy-Choo-Clue-Shoes>Jimmy Choo Clue Shoes</a> Game 7, the LA Kings faced the defending Stanley Cup champs, the Chicago Blackhawks. Not only was it the Kings third Game 7 of the playoffs, the game went into overtime.
The score was 4-4. Even though Los Angeles are puck-possession, well, kings, these were the reigning champs. Play went back and forth. Then, a quarter of the way through overtime, play entered the Blackhawks zone. The puck came to Martinez, and he lobbed it toward Chicago goalie Corey Crawford.
It went in. It bounced off defenseman Nick Leddy and careened past Crawford. Crawford slumped. The crowd in Chicago s United Center growled in disappointment. No matter, third-line defenseman Alec Martinez had .
Surely it was a fluke, right? This was no superstar Drew Doughty. This was Alec Martinez, a player with some of the lowest minutes on the team.
It was no fluke. The Kings didn t take it to seven games with the New York Rangers at a certain point even the Energizer Bunny Kings get weary. They solved the Rangers in five.
And Alec Martinez , future Hall of Famer Henrik Lundqvist.
To Lundqvist s credit, he was a superb goalie that night. He made 48 saves 32 of them from the third period on. No, you can t lay the blame at Lundqvist s feet.
You can lay it at Martinez s feet, though. The game didn t just go into overtime, it went into double overtime.
Late in the second overtime, Kings goalie Jonathan Quick made a key save. Play moved up the ice, a 3-on-2, and Martinez was part of the action. Kings forward Tyler Toffoli he of the Whoo-hoo to his father on live TV shot the puck. Lundqvist made the save, but the rebound came <a href=http://www.avanttravel.com/page.php?sale=Tory-Burch-Amanda-Satchel>Tory Burch Amanda Satchel</a> right to Martinez s stick.聽 Lundqvist was on the far side of the net, leaving wide open space for Martinez.
And he buried it in. The crowd at the LA Staples Center went delirious. Martinez went delirious he lost a few seconds:
I blacked out. I tossed my gear, the guys jumped in, and I couldn鈥檛 breathe for a while. It鈥檚 a surreal moment.
Surreal or not, thanks to Alec Martinez s overtime goal, the Kings had won the Stanley Cup.
Alec Martinez s Day With the Cup
Alec Martinez is the last amongst players and coaches to receive his Day with the Cup. No reason why everyone else got to go before him maybe they saved the best for last. Indeed, the Cup will visit vice president and Kings legend Luc Robitaille absolute last.
In any case, Martinez received the Stanley Cup around 10:30 am on Monday, August 25, at his home in Allen, Texas. According to and the player s own tweets, he and a group of family and friends had lunch at a nearby driving range NHL players do love their golf in the off-season. Later he held a Stanley Cup party at his newly-purchased home, then everyone went out for dinner at an area restaurant. At some point in all the festivities Martinez filled the Cup with Fruit Loops. And that was Martinez s chill Day with the Cup.
&nbsp;
One question going into the 2014-15 season is how big a role Martinez will take <a href=http://www.alportico.net/page.php?sale=True-Religion-Warehouse>True Religion Jeans Sale</a> on with the Kings. Even before his playoff heroics, he had started becoming a valuable asset on the LA blueline. Come training camp time, Alec Martinez could very well prove worthy of top-4 playing time. And that will give the LA Kings a formidable defensive corps indeed.
Regardless, will always be remembered as the quiet defenseman who proved to be the clutchiest of all clutch players.
Jaynes, Reitmeier, Boyd Therrell, a Waco firm, was approved for a retainer cost of $3,000 and is authorized to spend no more than $10,000.
City staff said the firm won鈥檛 know the official cost of the work needed until it gets a look at the information available in the city.
Several council members expressed their frustration with the cost.
Williams said if the former employee, who was not identified, is convicted of <a href=http://architectscanterbury.co.uk/page.php?sale=True-Religion-Jeans-Suit>True Religion Jeans Suit</a> a crime, the city will be reimbursed by the defendant.
If the city did not comply with the Rangers鈥?mandate to hire someone to investigate the information, the charges would be dropped.
A letter to the city from the firm states that the firm鈥檚 periodic bills must include a summary description of the work performed, and the firm will keep records of its professional time and expenses, which will be provided upon request.
Williams said the city found discrepancies in the water revenue account about two months ago and asked the Rangers to investigate.
Williams said it is not clear how much money could be missing.
Also at the meeting, Mart High School Principal Betsy Burnett said her students started the community gardens at Chambless Field, and the children love planting and harvesting the <a href=http://www.cicviseu.net/page.php?sale=Jimmy-Choo-Nova>Jimmy Choo Nova</a> vegetables in the area.
Because of the enthusiasm for the project, Burnett said, the school has started a civic service award. Students can earn a new cord to wear at graduation by putting in 25 hours of community service a year.
鈥淲e want to encourage these students to work with community projects,鈥?she said. 鈥淲e鈥檙e a small community and we all have to work together to make good things happen here.鈥?
Burnett said she and her family recently watched the movie 鈥淔rozen鈥?at the field and enjoyed the experience.
The city recently received a $30,000 donation to help build a new corrugated <a href=http://architectscanterbury.co.uk/page.php?sale=Kate-Spade-Necklace>Kate Spade Necklace</a> steel movie screen 鈥?standing at 20 feet tall and 42 feet across 鈥?at the field to show summer movies.
Mart resident Sarah Sheffield also spoke at the meeting and said the effort at the field has been a combined effort of the city and the school district.
Sheffield said if there was more community involvement and combined work on projects, the city could accomplish a lot.

Moving forward, the Giants, who will work on correcting the various breakdowns in their game as they get ready for their home opener against the Cardinals on Sunday, believe they have to have a greater sense of resilience, especially <a href=http://www.alportico.net/page.php?sale=Gucci-Sunglasses-Men>Gucci Sunglasses Men</a> when things don't go their way. To be totally honest with you, yeah. I'd be lying if I didn't say that was a concern, safety Antrel Rolle said during his weekly radio segment with WFAN Radio when asked if he thought some guys might be fearing a repeat of last year's rough beginning. Last year left such a bitter taste in our mouth, you want to get off to an early start so you can erase that memory. The way we looked (Monday) night, we didn't look good. So how do they fix it? We need more fight, Rolle said. I feel like the team needs more fight, we need more attitude. I feel like we're lying on our heels a little bit way too much. I think we're relying on our talent way too much as opposed to going out there and being dominant, being feisty, having that dog. That's something that you need as a team. Right now, I just don't see (it). We're a little bit too lax out there. Linebacker Jon Beason, who like Rolle is a defensive co-captain, agreed. I think we need to have more fun, he said. I think it's only fun when you're making plays. Throughout the game when you're out there and things aren't going well, what you're trying to trying to get across to the guys is 'Hey, someone step up and make a play, man. Let's have fun.' Once we make a play, you're going to get on a roll and start flying around, you're going to do it together. When you make mistakes, it's demoralizing. The game earned ESPN a 9.2 overnight rating, down 21 percent from the Eagles-Redskins game in the same window last season, according to the Sports Business Daily. With the first game out of the way, Beason believes the Giants will quickly find out what they're made of. You can only measure yourself off your last performance. That part of it is yet to be determined, Beason said. We're going to go in (Wednesday) and be honest, and look at ourselves individually, and ask, 'OK, where can 5-2 get better? Where were my mistakes? Where was my lack of consistency and execution?' Own up to it and let's fix it because Sunday is going to be here and no one's going to feel sorry for us. REPORT CARD VS. LIONSPASSING OFFENSE: F -- Offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo's belief that the passing game's preseason woes were in the rearview mirror was nothing more than a pipedream as Eli Manning's struggles continued. But don't put all of the blame on the quarterback his receivers didn't separate with any consistency, he was victimized by some dropped passes and miscommunications, and his offensive line once again failed to protect him.RUSHING OFFENSE: D-minus -- After looking so promising in the preseason, the Giants' running game was stonewalled by the Lions' defensive front. New York averaged 2.4 yards per carry, with the duo of Rashad Jennings and Andre Williams failing to pass 50 yards a <a href=http://www.avanttravel.com/page.php?sale=Tory-Burch-Mclane>Tory Burch Mclane</a> piece of production.PASS DEFENSE: F -- While it was probably unrealistic to expect the Giants to shut down wide receiver Calvin Johnson, the constant breakdowns in coverage seemed to come at an alarming pace. Johnson, who finished with seven receptions for 164 yards and two touchdowns, had 131 of his receiving yards by the half. The Lions went mercilessly after safety Stevie Brown. Linebacker Jacquian Williams was inconsistent in coverage as well.RUSH DEFENSE: A -- The lone bright spot for the Giants was the run defense, which held Joique Bell and Reggie Bush to 65 yards on 24 carries, and one touchdown. Detroit finished with an average of 2.5 yards-per-carry, as the Giants stuffed four run plays for zero or negative yards.SPECIAL TEAMS: C-plus -- The inability to protect on the punt coverage finally caught up with the Giants as Steve Weatherford was nailed for a blocked punt, his plant leg pinned underneath him and his ankle twisted awkwardly. He ended up suffering a high ankle sprain, his status moving forward unknown. Otherwise, the Giants got decent production on punt returns from Preston Parker, who returned two punts for 30 yards.COACHING: F -- Offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo told reporters before the game that he saw progress made by the offense during the week of practice, but the reality is that the offense looked just as inconsistent and uncomfortable as it did last year under former offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride. Defensive coordinator Perry Fewell's defense didn't look any more settled either. While the run defense was effective, there was very little pass rush, there were breakdowns in the defensive secondary, and the Lions simply <a href=http://www.alportico.net/page.php?sale=True-Religion-Swimming-Trunks>True Religion Swimming Trunks</a> had their way with the Giants' defense all night. President Barack Obama <a href=http://www.alportico.net/prodotti/christianlouboutin-sale.jkmsw.php>Christian Louboutin Heels</a> on Wednesday promised to take the fight to the terrorist organization that beheaded two American journalists and degrade and destroy it. Yet Obama has not approved U.S. airstrikes against Islamic State forces in Syria and remains opposed to the redeployment of U.S. combat troops in Iraq (although he has ordered airstrikes in that country and has increased the number of troops guarding U.S. facilities there). Is there a mismatch between the president s words and deeds? Not if you read the fine print of what he has been saying about Islamic State. For example, in a news conference last week Obama said the organization poses an immediate threat to the people of Iraq and to people throughout the region. But he went on to outline a broader, comprehensive strategy that included regional partnerships and efforts to press Iraq to form an inclusive government that would reach out to disaffected Sunnis who have embraced Islamic State. And while he acknowledged that the Pentagon was preparing a range of options presumably including airstrikes in Syria Obama indicated that he was still weighing which, if any, to embrace.Given the gravity of direct U.S. involvement in Syria s many-sided civil war, such careful deliberation is responsible. Unfortunately, Obama expressed himself inartfully, saying, We don t have a strategy yet. He was actually referring to specific tactical decisions that lie in the future, but <a href=http://capstone.edu.sg/images/guccioutlet.onlinesalecc.php>Gucci Outlet</a> it sounded as if he hadn t given any thought to the threat posed by Islamic State. The soundbite was a gift to his critics. But if the line about lacking a strategy created one misimpression, Obama s comments Wednesday in response to the beheading of freelance reporter Steven Sotloff could foster another: that the U.S. is about to wage total war on the organization. The beheadings of Sotloff and fellow journalist James Foley were barbaric acts that have rightly made wanted men of the perpetrators. But there is a difference between avenging their deaths or using air power to rescue trapped refugees, as the U.S. did last month and undertaking a military <a href=http://www.alportico.net/prodotti/christianlouboutin-sale.jkmsw.php>Christian Louboutin Pumps</a> operation to degrade and destroy a group that might be neutralized without such a commitment.Obama outlined a broader, comprehensive strategy' on Syria that included regional partnershipsIs there a mismatch between the president s words and deeds on Syria? Not really.
The Red Sox scored single runs in the first four innings off J.A. Happ (9-9) after the Blue Jays jumped ahead 1-0 on Dioner Navarro s RBI double.
Dustin Pedroia s run-scoring grounder tied it in the first and Boston moved ahead on Will Middlebrooks RBI single in the second. Yoenis Cespedes had an RBI double in the third and Christian Vazquez added an RBI double in the fourth.
Buchholz left with <a href=http://www.symbiose.ca/images/christianlouboutin.gwij.php>Christian Louboutin Sale</a> a 4-1 lead in the seventh before Craig Breslow gave up Rasmus homer that hooked around the right-field foul pole.
In his last start, Buchholz shut out Tampa Bay with a three-hitter Sunday. On Aug. 25 in Toronto, he held Toronto scoreless over eight innings before leaving with the bases loaded in the ninth. The bullpen allowed all three runners to score before Boston pulled out a 4-3 victory in <a href=http://www.symbiose.ca/images/christianlouboutin.gwij.php>Christian Louboutin Outlet</a> extra innings.
Buchholz gave up two hits in the first two innings, then retired 11 straight batters before Jose Bautista s leadoff double in the sixth. After walking the next batter, Buchholz helped himself by grabbing Adam Lind s grounder to the mound and firing to second, starting a 1-6-3 double play. Navarro then lined out to center.
Blue Jays: Kevin Pillar started in left field a day after Melky Cabrera was lost for the season with a fractured right pinkie finger. Red Sox: Infielder/outfielder and leadoff hitter Brock Holt, who left Friday s win early with dizziness, was out of the lineup, but Manager John Farrell said he was available to play. Farrell said he decided to get an extra right-handed batter in the lineup against left-handed starter Happ. First baseman Mike Napoli left because of an illness after the second inning.

@@@
The new Apple Watch聽jumped into the wearable tech pool today with a splash, joining Fitbit, Jawbone Up, Lumo Lift, , and others seeking to improve users鈥?lives with a variety of apps that make it <a href=http://capstone.edu.sg/images/gucciusaonlineoutlet.php> cheap gucci</a> easier to shop, keep track of one鈥檚 health and even do something as banal as mind the time.
Aside from lovers of gadgets, we鈥檙e wondering who will wear this sporty, chunky-faced tech tool? And 鈥?not a criticism, just a question 鈥?why call it 鈥淎pple Watch鈥?and not iWatch or something more clever?
Reports from this morning鈥檚 news conference in Cupertino say that the watch will tell time, will work with health apps (for medical or workout purposes), will control gadgets at home (like the thermostat) and will be able to be used for buying things without pulling out a credit card.聽It will come in three styles, Apple Sport (with rubberized band), Apple Watch and Apple Watch Edition (a luxury model with high-end finishes.) Consumers come in different <a href=http://capstone.edu.sg/images/gucciusaonlineoutlet.php> cheap gucci</a> demographics, you see.
Users will need to pair it with an iPhone 5 or later model for it to work. No word on whether it is water-resistant, but we can see fans wanting to keep it on at all hours (especially if you鈥檙e using it to track medical issues.)
Since young people already use their phones for watches these days, it鈥檚 hard to know <a href=http://capstone.edu.sg/clreplicashoes.php>Christian Louboutin Shoes Sale</a> whether they鈥檒l buy the Apple Watch (starting at $349 next spring). Will it be as prestigious as having the latest iPhone? More prestigious than a Patek Philippe watch, which only tells the time?
Moreover, will women like its big, bold face, which could look masculine on some wrists? Looking at some of the bright solid wristband colors shown, it strikes us that the Apple Watch聽looks a bit like a mod, 1960s bangle bracelet, which, considering the current 1960s trends on the runways of New York, may not be a bad thing. (Is that former Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts鈥?hand in the design?)
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) The Minnesota State Fair is all about tradition. Every year, you probably have Sweet Martha s Cookies, the cheese curds and swing by the Miracle of Birth Center.
The Miracle of Birth Center is one of the most popular attractions at the State Fair. Along with the baby animals, you can check out a new element to the center this year.
Florian Ledermann, a veterinarian at the center this year, said as <a href=http://www.avanttravel.com/page.php?sale=Christian-Louboutin-Bags>Christian Louboutin Bags</a> of Monday morning they ve had 86 baby animals born and they expect about 200 total by the end of the State Fair. That number accounts for piglets, lambs and calves.
Ledermann <a href=http://www.avanttravel.com/page.php?sale=Tory-Burch-Dena-Messenger-Bag>Tory Burch Dena Messenger Bag</a> said the warm and humid conditions that often come with the State Fair can affect the number of births that happen at the center as well as the time they happen. He said those conditions tend to slow down labor, but they have fans and water coolers to keep the animals as cool as they can.
It s as much about being educated on the animals, too, as it is about seeing <a href=http://www.avanttravel.com/page.php?sale=Christian-Louboutin-Melbourne>Christian Louboutin Melbourne</a> the animals in their earliest stages.
We want people to stay in touch with their farm, where the foods come from so they understand how these animals are taken care of, Ledermann said. We re quite proud of our farmers here in Minnesota. They ve done a really good job with them and their health.
A new twist this year is landscaping done by FFA members previously at the agriculture building has been moved to outside the Miracle of Birth Center.
Po lewej stronie holu jest salon maj膮cy dziewi臋膰 metr贸w d艂ugo艣ci. Zamontowano tu podgrzewan膮 kamienn膮 pod艂og臋 i kominek z masywnym d臋bowym blatem - opisuj膮 dziennikarze "New York Timesa".
Na pierwszym pi臋trze s膮 cztery dodatkowe sypialnie. Zgodnie z wydanym zezwoleniem budynek mo偶e by膰 przekszta艂cony w dom go艣cinny. Cena ofertowa nieruchomo艣ci to 1,28 mln dol.
Nieruchomo艣膰 znajduje si臋 w wiosce Pitton. Sklepy spo偶ywcze i inne punkty us艂ugowe znajduj膮 si臋 w Swansea, ok. 40 minut drogi st膮d, a malownicze miasteczko Mumbles, ulubione przez celebryt贸w, np.

@@@
(CNN) A female soldier with a gun who caused a lockdown on Monday at Fort Lee in Virginia shot and wounded herself, the Army installation <a href=http://architectscanterbury.co.uk/page.php?sale=Buy-Louboutin>Buy Louboutin</a> said in a statement after the all-clear was given.
Early reports indicate the soldier turned the weapon on herself and fired one shot, injuring herself, the statement said. The soldier was transported to Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center. Her condition is not known at this time.
It said special agents from the Army Criminal Investigation Command were investigating.
Earlier, the Army post s website reported an active shooter incident at Building 5020 of the Combined Arms Support Command headquarters and the installation was locked down.
Less than an <a href=http://architectscanterbury.co.uk/page.php?sale=True-Religion-Wrentham-Outlet>True Religion Wrentham Outlet</a> hour later, the lockdown was partially lifted, limited to one building and a main gate, before being entirely lifted.
Fort Lee is near Petersburg, Virginia, about 30 miles south of Richmond and 135 miles south of Washington.
Retired Maj. Gen. James Spider Marks, a CNN military analyst, described the post as a very active one, with soldiers routinely coming and going to get various types of training.
In an active shooter situation, he said, everyone locks down in place to avoid becoming a target while letting authorities <a href=http://architectscanterbury.co.uk/page.php?sale=True-Religion-Denim-Skirt>True Religion Denim Skirt</a> and military police respond.

, represents the kind of sturdy, reliable presence at backup quarterback that head coach Mike McCarthy trusts to handle big situations. wasn't that guy last year, but a full offseason in the system and a stellar preseason campaign may have changed his coach's tune. If the Packers let one go during the cut down to 53, another team would be expected Jimmy Choo For Men to sign him, forcing the team to sign a young quarterback to stash the practice squad.
Prior to Rettig's release, there was reason to believe he would be that quarterback. However, a nondescript training camp and preseason appears to have rendered him a non-option for the Packers. While technically he could still be added to the practice squad following next week's final wave of releases, it's rare for players let go on the first cut down to return to Michael Kors Factory Outlet those teams.
The far more likely prospect is Green Bay keeping Flynn and Tolzien on their final roster. By releasing Rettig now and effectively eliminating his chances of making the practice squad, the Packers appear to have put their chips behind their two other reserve signal callers. The alternative to keeping Flynn and Tolzien would be to bring another quarterback completely unfamiliar with the Packers' offense and attempt train them during the season Hunter And Jimmy Choo under heavy rep limitations.

The Packers seem better off just holding onto Flynn and Tolzien. Each is deserving of a spot, and retaining both allows the Packers to avoid any of the backup quarterback pitfalls that led to last season's winless November.
