175.44.55.99: We ask police, can I be naked in Seattle-

@@@
We recently spotted a person riding up the street topless and saw a video of naked bike riders at Westlake, which got us thinking - is that even legal in Seattle?
There are no nudity laws in the city, according to Seattle police.
"We have and indecent exposure is behavior that will cause a reasonable person fear, alarm, or concern that they can then articulate to police," said Sergeant Sean Whitcomb.
"A woman riding through a neighborhood Celine Bags Outlet topless is probably not going to cause that much alarm," he said.
It's completely different if a person is naked from the waist down at a playground full of children.
"You're doing that to cause a reaction. Not only would it terrify the kids, it's what we would call a blatant violation of law," Celine Outlet Store Whitcomb said.
The Fremont Solstice Parade is acceptable because there's an expectation of nudity. If you remove the parade and a naked man is simply riding to work, Whitcomb said you're still probably not going to see enforcement.
"It's just nudity and that person is moving from point A to point B...so there's not very much time to be alarmed."
The totality of the circumstances, according to Whitcomb, is what officers must consider. They put all of the facts together to create a general impression.
For example, a nude person riding past a school every day isn't necessarily a problem, even if a teacher complains. But if that person is circling the block several times, Celine UK intentionally slowing down, timing the ride for recess, or adjusting oneself to provide a better view, an officer might respond.
"The elements of indecent exposure mean nudity plus," said Whitcomb. "Nudity alone is typically not going to do much."
While this explanation might have you considering a liberating jog tomorrow, Whitcomb warns the curious to just be aware of the context because people will definitely think something of it.
"There are people who are offended by nudity," he said. "But what we'll say is, 'What exactly about that nudity caused you concern?'"
If you are someone who is offended, the good news is fall and winter are just around the corner.

The most recent incident occurred early Tuesday morning at Carrington and involved trucks carrying tunnel-boring equipment on the journey from the Port of Newcastle and Bella Vista in north-west Sydney.
The load was inspected by police and RMS officers and found to be in breach of its permit, over width and length, and the rear push truck had a substantial weight breach.
Traffic and highway patrol commander Assistant Commissioner John Hartley suggested the contractor would have been aware of the breaches.
Roads and Maritime Services director of safety and compliance Peter Wells said: This is not good enough and the actions of this operator and other parties in the supply chain relating to these loads will be investigated under chain of responsibility provisions.
Under chain of responsibility provisions the directors of a corporation can be prosecuted for safety breaches, as well as the customers of a trucking company.
and another the week before that.
In a statement, a spokesman for the north-west rail link project said that the builders of the Ceinture en cuir chiffres tunnels for the project Thiess John Holland Dragados were looking for an alternative transport provider for the last truckload of equipment for the tunnel boring machine.
About 45 truckloads have been required to take the machine to Bella Vista from Newcastle. The last load remains at Newcastle.
The company shipping the tunnel boring machines to Australia engaged a transport company to manage deliveries between Newcastle and Sydney, the spokesman said.
Transport for NSW expects the truck and its load will be re-assessed at the port, the spokesman said of the last load.
Ms Berejiklian said: I am very disappointed to hear about the latest incident and I understand a new transport provider is being sourced.
Given the scale and magnitude of this project, clearly there are challenges we need to manage.

@@@
Sixty-nine years ago today, the United States dropped an atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima. Three days later, on Aug. 9, 1945, the U.S. dropped a plutonium bomb on the city of Nagasaki. An estimated quarter of a million people died as a result, but only about half on the first day. The rest suffered inhumanely for days and months afterward from severe burns and radiation sickness before dying. Almost all of Hiroshima s health care providers were killed. We hesitate to even imagine the horror experienced by people on those days.Scientists still debate whether the exposure to radiation caused birth defects in the children of survivors, but the elevated cancer deaths among the bomb survivors is well documented. The hibakusha, the Japanese term for bomb survivors, have endured the additional pain of discrimination within their own country by people who don t understand the effects of radiation sickness. Some people still think it is contagious. On the anniversary of the world s only nuclear attack, the Louis Vuitton Siracusa mayor of Hiroshima makes a speech urging the world to abandon the false security of the global nuclear arms race. It s a plea everyone in the world should take seriously. When conflicts break out around the world, as they have today in Ukraine and the Middle East, there is always the danger that one side or the other might deploy a nuclear weapon.During the peak of the Cold War era, both Russia and the U.S. operated on the nuclear deterrence theory. It was an understandable, but mistaken, belief that no nation would attack another nation that had an arsenal of nuclear weapons. The unfortunate nuclear arms race began because of that line of thinking. Even though several good-faith attempts have been made toward disarmament since, there are more than 17,000 nuclear weapons scattered all over the world today.Put into the wrong hands North Korea, for example, or any number of fringe terrorist organizations we can only imagine the devastation those weapons could cause.Knowing those weapons Louis Vuitton Sistina are out there and that many nations have stockpiled plutonium from spent nuclear fuel, which can be converted into nuclear Louis Vuitton Speedy bombs, should make every inhabitant of this planet uneasy. It s alarming when North Korea conducts nuclear tests, or when we learn that China is building up its nuclear war chest and Iran is developing nuclear capability.Japan faces the danger of instability in Northeast Asia, where unpredictable triggers could set off China or North Korea. In last year s Hiroshima Peace Declaration, the city s mayor asked world leaders, Do you honestly believe you can continue to maintain national security by rattling your sabers? Or, as President Obama said in speech in Berlin, We may no longer live in fear of global annihilation, but so long as nuclear weapons exist, we are not truly safe. And yet, despite Japan s leadership and the promising statements of presidents and other world leaders, nuclear disarmament has never been achieved. On the contrary, from a global perspective, the dangers have actually increased.

A private conversation on the dictaphone between Tomazin and former premier Ted Baillieu was emailed to Liberal members in late June.
For drug deal turned shooting, Easton teen gets 4 to 8 yearsJared Alvin Jr. takes plea bargain in Easton stickup that ended in a shooting.August 05, 2014|By Riley Yates, Of The Morning CallIt started as a $100 drug sale, turned into a robbery, and wound up as a shooting. In the end, it'll cost 19-year-old Easton drug dealer Jared B. Alvin Jr. four to eight years of his life. That's the state prison term that Alvin received Monday under a plea bargain to a stickup last year in the West Ward that left Jerry Elwell Jr. with a bullet lodged in his neck.Late Dec. 21, a bleeding Elwell flagged down an Easton police officer, reporting he had been shot during a robbery as he drove his sedan, according to court records.Elwell told investigators that Alvin had phoned him that night asking if he wanted to buy marijuana. Elwell agreed and picked up Alvin and another man at Acheter louis vuitton South 13th and Washington streets for the sale, police said.Inside the car, the other man pulled a handgun and pointed it at Elwell's head, Northampton County Assistant District Attorney Kelly Lewis Fallenstein said. The robbers demanded the money, and "at that point, the gun went off," Fallenstein said.Alvin wasn't arrested for more than a month after the shooting. But on Jan. 31, he was taken into custody by authorities after a chase at Spruce and Raspberry streets, police said. A search revealed he was carrying 16 bags of crack cocaine, 28 bags of heroin and $767 in cash, police said.Under the plea bargain, Alvin admitted to conspiracy to commit robbery in the shooting, and possession with intent to deliver heroin for the drugs. President Judge Stephen Baratta called the deal "rather generous," though he accepted its terms.Under the agreement, a one- to two-year sentence for the heroin charge was allowed to run alongside the robbery, meaning no additional jail time. Alvin was under supervision for a previous drug conviction at the time of the crimes, and that case was closed without further penalty.Fallenstein said Alvin has agreed to cooperate with authorities against Voyage Louis Vuitton the man they have identified as the shooter, Dyquinn Little, who has not been charged. Alvin's plea deal was acceptable to Elwell, Fallenstein also said.Elwell was lucky to have not been more seriously injured, Fallenstein said. Though the bullet remains in his neck, Elwell was able to be released from the hospital just six hours after being admitted, she said."Really, he was a Portefeuille Louis Vuitton very fortunate individual," Fallenstein said.In court, Alvin said he did not know that Little had a gun or planned to use it during the robbery. Alvin said he wanted to apologize to his victim.Defense attorney Philip Lauer called Alvin a "very bright" and "very adventurous" young man who headed in the wrong direction. In the courtroom in support of the teen were his mother, his father and his grandmother.Baratta countered that there was "nothing adventurous" about Alvin's actions."This is just criminal thinking. It's bad. There's nothing that would be considered cute or positive about any of this," Baratta said.Twitter @riley_yates610-253-5751Featured ArticlesMore:Related Articles
January 4, 1995
August 8, 2012
December 1, 2009
October 10, 1990
October 24, 2007Find More Stories About|||Please note the green-lined linked article text has been applied commercially without any involvement from our newsroom editors, reporters or any other editorial staff.

Quinton Dial could play a big role in the 49ers defense this year (USA Today)Two weeks of training camp and two possible season-ending injuries for the 49ers. The first week, Kendall Hunter tore the ACL ligament in his knee. The next week, nose tackle Glenn Dorsey tore Celine Doctor Frame Bags his biceps tendon, one day after his 29th birthday.
Add to that leg injuries to wide receivers Brandon Lloyd and Michael Crabtree that should keep them out for a week or two and you wonder if this is the year injuries jeopardize the 49ers effort to return to a fourth straight NFC title game.
In the Harbaugh era, injuries have been remarkably minimal, particularly on defense. But already the season-threatening injuries to Dorsey and Hunter will challenge the team s highly-touted depth. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio sounded less than optimistic about the possible return of nose tackle Ian Williams, who has already endured multiple surgeries in the last 10 months to his shattered lower leg.
It could leave the 49ers with the under-sized Tony Jarod-Eddie Celine Luggage and the beastly but inexperienced Quinton Dial as the crucial men in the center of the 49ers defense. The team is also unsure when they will get defensive end Justin Smith back. He has been activated, but only fully participates in the team s morning walk-through practice.
Fellow starter Ray McDonald has also been waylaid by a leg injury that is not expected to linger.
At running back, general manager Trent Baalke has favored a two- or even-three-running-back attack. But that plan might be again on hold with the injury to Hunter, LaMichael James dislocated elbow and the slow rehabilitation of Marcus Lattimore.
The team could very well start the season with Frank Gore as the starter and practice squad player Jewel Hampton and rookie Carlos Hyde as backups. That means the 49ers might be reduced to a

one-pronged attack Gore.
No team has played more games the last three seasons than the 49ers. And, coach Jim Harbaugh is known for running one of the more arduous training camps in the league. You wonder if it all might be catching up to this team.

##############
Without prodding, without the slightest hesitation, Joe Philbin rattles off the dates as if he will never forget them.
鈥淒ecember 22nd and December 29th have been sticking in my craw for a Sac LOUIS VUITTON long time,鈥?he said.
Those were the dates of the season-ending losses to the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets, two games that changed the complexion of the 2013 season. The Dolphins were 8-6 and had a real shot of making the playoffs. But it all came apart in those two losses. A season of real hope quickly turned to average, an 8-8 record leaving its second-year head coach frustrated, disappointed and searching for answers.
鈥?that happened in those games,鈥?Philbin said. 鈥淚t wasn鈥檛 the way any of us wanted the season to end.鈥?
Joe Philbin sits in his office on this late Sunday afternoon, briefly looking back at what could have been, but far more intent on gazing straight ahead toward his third season leading this franchise. Philbin will tell you that this is the most talent he鈥檚 had on the roster since he arrived, that the upgrade in depth is evident at every practice.
鈥淭hings can change in a hurry in this league, but I feel good about this roster,鈥?he said. 鈥淚 believe in these players. We made some incremental improvements last season. It wasn鈥檛 as much as I wanted or as sudden as I wanted, but I am convinced we are heading in the right direction.鈥?
And Joe Philbin feels he, as the head coach, is heading in the right direction as well. He readily admits that he鈥檚 a better coach today than he was three training camps ago. He understands his players better. He communicates with them better. He has a better feel for the demands and challenges of his job.
鈥淚 loved this job when I took it,鈥?he says, 鈥溾€?
What he doesn鈥檛 love is losing. He doesn鈥檛 love remembering dates on a Sac LOUIS VUITTON solders schedule that bring back sour memories. He doesn鈥檛 love a 15-17 record in his two seasons here. That the Dolphins were in position to make the playoffs after 14 games last season showed promise. But those two losses only underlined how much work remained.
鈥淭o get as close as we did shows a lot about our guys,鈥?Philbin said. 鈥淏ut when you look closer you鈥檝e got to ask: Why didn鈥檛 we? What are some of the things we didn鈥檛 do? More than anything else, it showed me we still have a lot of room for development.鈥?
I truly like and respect this man. He is committed to this organization, committed to the people around him who he praises from his top assistants to the guy who cuts the grass on the practice field at night. He is so even keel, so calculating, so unbelievably organized. And, yes, so passionate,
鈥淚t has been a privilege to serve as head coach of the Dolphins,鈥?he tells me.
鈥淚 try to connect with our fans as much as possible. You can feel their passion. I listen when they say to me: 鈥楥oach, we are going to do it this year. Coach, we have a lot of confidence in you. Coach, we鈥檙e going all the way.鈥?
鈥淵ou love to hear people who are as passionate as that. I share their passion and enthusiasm for this season. I want them to rest assured I am as passionate as they are and I鈥檓 going to work tirelessly to help that dream come true.鈥?
The events of last season, both on and off the field, led . He realized he needed to communicate better and to have a more thorough feel of the mindset of his players. So he scheduled one-on-one meetings with most of his players and he listened intently. But that鈥檚 not all: He鈥檚 personally even handling bed check every night in training camp to stay close to his players. Yep, that鈥檚 Coach Philbin making sure the lights are out.
鈥淚 asked the guys a lot of questions,鈥?Philbin said of the one-on-one meetings. 鈥淲hat is your favorite thing about being a Dolphin? What is one thing you would change about the program and it didn鈥檛 matter the cost? It was interesting to get a perspective from the guys. The more information you have the better decisions you can make.鈥?
But communication is one thing; performance is another. just as he expects his players to be better players. He has outlined to them his expectations, his goals.
鈥淵ou always want to improve in your coaching,鈥?he said. 鈥淚 tell my players I want them to be a better football team in November and December than they were in the opening week. As a coach, you want to get better. I feel good about where I鈥檝e come since year one.鈥?
But Philbin will be the first to tell you it鈥檚 all about winning. He knows that鈥檚 how he鈥檒l be judged. He embraces that. He talks of the great Dolphins teams of the 70鈥檚 and how he would love nothing more than to help write a new chapter.
This is an important training camp, an important time. and so many pieces to craft together in forming the fabric of this football team.
Joe Philbin is clearly ready for the challenge.
(On Tuesday, AC in the AM takes a close look at two of the team鈥檚 most versatile players.)

@@@
ELTOPIA Alan Schreiber s truck bounces along a rutted road past row upon row of crops.Blueberries, asparagus, apples, cantaloupe, Brussels sprouts, Concord grapes, Merlot grapes, peaches, pears, cherries, onions, pumpkins, potatoes, tomatoes, sugar beets, alfalfa. Over 300 varieties of produce, much of it part of experiments on disease, pests and growing techniques. Every row here is something different, the Franklin County farmer said. There s Fava beans, Chinese cabbage, early green cabbage, green cabbage, red cabbage, savoy cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, another kind of kale, bok choy, some Napa cabbage, peppers, melons, tomatoes, tomatillos, eggplant. It goes on and on and on. But the crop that Schreiber figures will be more lucrative than any of them was completely unfamiliar to him a foreign world. Until a grower came to him wanting to know how to control mites on marijuana plants. That s when Schreiber realized he d better learn about the cannabis plant. He turned out to have a source of knowledge on his own staff. The 52-year-old Schreiber met 25-year-old Tom Balotte about a year ago and hired him as a mechanic. Balotte had worked on a Virginia Tech research farm before moving with his girlfriend to Washington state. He put his mechanical mind to work fixing and Louis Vuitton Evora designing equipment, like a shield he built to expand the space that could be used for research by keeping pesticide being sprayed on some plants away from others. The Romania-born, Texas-raised son of a botanist and a mechanical engineer, Balotte s tattoos tell part of his story. The design on his arm relates to shooting airsoft guns, the one on his fist to a favorite metal band, and the ink on his back and his other arm to the worlds of video games The Elder Scrolls and World of Warcraft. A three-monitor display at home immerses him in his games.Schreiber is a straitlaced Eastern Washington farmer. He grew up on a farm and earned doctoral degrees in entomology and pesticide toxicology, then worked for the Environmental Protection Agency and as a Washington State University professor before going into commercial research. He voted against Initiative 502 that legalized recreational marijuana. If they re something of an odd couple, it turned out they were well suited for collaboration on the new project Schreiber had in mind. I ve got the pest management experience, Schreiber said, and he s got the kind of applied, real-world, make-things-grow skills. The full realization came months after Balotte was hired, during a conversation over beers at a 30th-floor Portland restaurant at the end of a long day at an agricultural conference. It turned out Balotte s past tinkering included growing marijuana in a closet. They started to realize Balotte s experience could be a perfect match for Schreiber s hopes of doing cutting-edge research Louis Vuitton Galliera and development on the plant and its pests. He was made for a project like this, Schreiber said.Balotte isn t a pot smoker, although he travels in the right circles. I wish I could, but I was just too sensitive to it, Balotte said. My friends, it looks like they re having the most fun in the world, and I m sitting there with my beer in my hand just sitting there with envy, because it looks awesome. Now Schreiber has applied for Louis Vuitton Lockit a license. His is one of more than 2,400 applications still waiting after the state Liquor Control Board has approved fewer than 140 growers.Meantime, Balotte has designed a prototype of a hydroponic growing contraption. If you want to try some advanced growing techniques you have to involve some engineering, some design, and that s really what I like, Balotte said. The prototype involves PVC tubes dotted with holes like giant flutes, each hole a spot for a plant to stick out of while its roots are bathed in nutrients. The thing is gathering dust in a greenhouse while they wait for a license. If approved, they expect they can pioneer new ways of not only growing the plant, but keeping it from being destroyed by pests and contaminants.Schreiber expects a huge demand for information among the licensed growers. The first time that somebody has $100,000 worth of this that they lose because they get an aphid infestation, a mite infestation, powder mildew or Botrytis (a fungus), he said, ... people will want to know how to control these pests.

175.44.55.99: ECB Expected To Remain On Hold With Monetary Policy; Draghi Likely To Remain Dovish

@@@
() 鈥?The European Central Bank is expected to leave monetary policy unchanged this week, but President Mario Draghi likely will reiterate to markets that policy-makers remain ready to undertake more monetary accommodation if necessary, analysts said.
The ECB is scheduled to meet on Thursday.
Eurozone inflation fell in July to 0.4% year-on-year, the lowest level since October 2009, and is well below the ECB鈥檚 target rate of 2%. ECB officials have suggested in the past that a rate below 1% poses a risk of deflation.
Still, ECB policy-makers are expected to stay on hold as they continue to monitor the impact of monetary accommodation measures announced in June. Back then, the ECB cut interest rates and said it would conduct targeted longer-term refinancing operations aimed at improving bank lending.
鈥淚 am expecting absolutely nothing,鈥?said Christopher Vecchio, currency analyst at DailyFX. 鈥淭his is a weird in-between meeting where the ECB is still conducting it stress tests (on banks) and collecting data from those results. There has simply not been enough time passed since the June measures to say whether or not the accelerated pace of easing has had the wanted Bagages Louis Vuitton or desired effects.鈥?
Mark McCormick, forex strategist with Cr dit Agricole, described the ECB meeting as a 鈥渢ransitional鈥?one.
鈥淭hey introduced new policy measures a few months ago,鈥?he said. 鈥淭he targeted LTRO won鈥檛 start until September. So now, they鈥檙e trying to see the response to the new policy actions they put in place. They鈥檙e really in wait-and-see mode.鈥?
He sees potential downside for the euro if Draghi should suggest there are still more downside risks to inflation. 鈥淚 think they鈥檒l remain pretty assertive about their accommodative stance,鈥?McCormick said. This could provide some headwinds for the euro, especially with the Federal Reserve continuing to taper its bond-buying program known as Portefeuille Louis Vuitton quantitative easing, McCormick added.
Vecchio and analysts at Barclays also look for Draghi to continue sounding a dovish tone.
鈥淲hile we and the market do not expect any change in policy, ECB President Mario Draghi is likely to reaffirm the central bank鈥檚 commitment to using extraordinary policy measures to ease monetary conditions, including the prospect of ABS (asset-backed securities) purchases, and address very low euro area inflation,鈥?Barclays said in a research note. 鈥淲e look for further information regarding the implementation of those measures in the press conference, particularly after data last week showed inflation had declined to 0.4% y/y in July and is likely to reach a cyclical low of 0.3% y/y in August and September.鈥?
Related Stories:
If Draghi does not come off as still dovish, Vecchio added, the could rally as positioning is 鈥減retty one-sided.鈥?The net-short position in euro futures contracts for the large non-commercial accounts 鈥?according to weekly data from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission鈥攊s at the highest level since Court Portefeuilles August 2012, he said.

175.44.55.99: Animal shelter, rural transit funding top agenda at city

@@@
鈥淚t鈥檚 a pretty significant amount of money, but every study the Humane Society has done or that we have done says we really need twice this,鈥?Stem said.
Mayor Malcolm Duncan Jr. said the shelter has had great success since the city took over management of the facility a little more than a year and a half ago from the Humane Society of Central Texas, which now runs the adoption service.
County Judge Scott Felton said after the meeting that it was clear the shelter was in need of funding help and that this was the first time it has come before commissioners.
But there are limitations to the shelter, including the 50- to 60-year-old kennel. Duncan said the city is seeking funding through partnerships and community donations.
There are 15 cities in McLennan County that have contracts with the shelter, Stem said.
Duncan said now is the right time for a campaign because support for the shelter since the city took control has reached an all-time high. He also stressed that the issue of stray animals is countywide.
鈥淚t鈥檚 not just a Waco problem,鈥?he said.
The city already has committed to contributing $500,000 toward the shelter renovation.
A new clinic would include the new adoption center and a pet play area with a covered pavilion. It also would have a veterinary clinic for spay and neuter surgeries and microchipping, a remodeled cat room, a dedicated puppy house, improved parking and a redesigned animal intake area with drive-thru capabilities.
The city has a link on its website for residents to donate to the new shelter fund.
Also at the meeting, the two entities discussed the idea of increasing the amount of shared services.
Clint Peters, the city of Waco鈥檚 director of planning, said the city will work to put together a task force of people from the county, city and Waco Independent School District to see if there are possibilities for shared space.
Peters said they are looking into hiring a professional architect to look at the structures belonging to the three entities to see if there鈥檚 any room for consolidation or the ability to sell unneeded property to get it back on the tax rolls.
鈥淚 think this is a neat opportunity for us to do something different,鈥?Peters said.
Rural transportation
Felton at the meeting again reiterated that he thinks there is a need for a rural transportation district.
Duncan said he has heard that increased transportation availability in the county would help give people access to needed educational resources.
Felton said the cost to deliver those services through the Heart of Texas Council of Governments, which is responsible for rural on-demand transit, has been fairly expensive.
The proposed countywide district would redirect state money from the HOTCOG to an interlocal agreement with the Waco Transit System, which operates urban routes.
鈥淚 felt like it was my duty to look at the interest of McLennan County first, and the Heart of Texas Council of Governments after that,鈥?Felton said.
Felton said at Tuesday鈥檚 commissioners court meeting, the court will discuss, and possibly vote on, the declaration of intent to create a district. If approved, a committee will be formed of the mayors of the county鈥檚 incorporated cities to discuss a plan.
Waco Transit General Manager John Hendrickson said the interlocal agreement would provide economic stimulus, as it would give residents a way to access jobs, education and medical facilities, and employers would have access to a larger pool of employees.

@@@
ATLANTA Missionary Nancy Writebol, one of two known Americans stricken with Ebola, wasn't looking to abandon her overseas work. But Jeremy Writebol believes his 59-year-old mother can yield a greater good from her impending return to the United States amid West Africa's worst-ever outbreak of the often-deadly virus. The attention focused on her case "might help develop a cure and resources to help those who are suffering," the younger Writebol said. "I am sure hopeful for that."A Liberian government official has confirmed that Louis Vuitton Siracusa a medical evacuation team is scheduled to fly Nancy Writebol back to the United States early Tuesday. She will receive treatment at Atlanta's Emory University Hospital alongside one of her mission partners, Dr. Kent Brantly, who was admitted Saturday. The American cases make headlines as dozens of African heads of state converge on Washington for the Monday opening of the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit, a three-day gathering hosted by President Barack Obama. Among the stated purposes: discussing how to help African nations overcome systemic challenges, including disease.Brantly and Writebol contracted Ebola after working on the same medical mission team treating victims of the virus around Monrovia, Liberia. More than 1,300 people have been stricken, killing at least 729 of them in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.Ebola has no vaccine or antidote. Contracted through close contact with bodily fluid and blood as opposed to an airborne virus like influenza or the common cold Ebola causes hemorrhagic fever that kills at least 60 percent of the people it infects in Africa, where substandard health care makes it easier to spread the virus and harder to treat it. Yet medical experts say recovery prospects are much greater at modern hospitals that follow strict controls for infection control.Emory, where Brantly already is quarantined, boasts one of the nation's most sophisticated infectious disease units. Patients are sealed off from anyone Louis Vuitton Sistina not in protective gear. Lab tests are conducted inside the unit, ensuring that viruses don't leave the quarantined area. Family members see and communicate with patients through barriers.Brantly's wife released a statement Sunday saying she had gotten to see her husband, a physician with the international relief group Samaritan's Purse."Our family is rejoicing over Kent's safe arrival, and we are confident that he is receiving the very best care," Amber Brantly said.Writebol and her husband, David, had been in Liberia since August 2013, sent there by the Christian organization SIM USA and sponsored by their home congregation at Calvary Church in Charlotte, North Carolina."They take the Great Commission literally," said their pastor, the Rev. John Munro, referring to the instruction from Jesus Christ to "make disciples of all nations."At the hospital where Brantly treated patients, Nancy Writebol worked as a hygienist whose role included decontaminating those entering or leaving the Ebola treatment area. Munro said David Writebol fulfilled administrative and technical duties.A few weeks before she was diagnosed, Jeremy Writebol said, a doctor visited the Monrovia hospital where she worked and praised the decontamination procedures as the best he'd seen. Jeremy Writebol said she was "really pleased by knowing that" and never thought she would be infected, despite her proximity to the virus.David and Nancy Writebol have engaged in foreign missions for 15 years, spending five years in Ecuador and nine years in Zambia, where Munro said they worked in a home for widows and orphans.Munro recalled speaking with the couple when the Ebola outbreak began."We weren't telling them to come back; we were just willing to help them come back," he said. "They said, 'The work isn't finished, and it must continue.'"After talking with his father Sunday, the younger Writebol said it's clear his mother "is still suffering," but said the family remains optimistic.Officials at the U.S. Centers for Disease Controls and Prevention, also in Atlanta, say they've gotten some blowback for bringing Ebola cases to an American hospital. But Dr. Tom Frieden, CDC director, emphasized again Sunday that there is no threat to the public in the United Louis Vuitton Speedy States."We know how to control it: hospital infection control and stopping it at the source in Africa," Frieden said Sunday on ABC's "This Week."Frieden's agency is ramping up its effort to stem Ebola's spread. He promised "50 staff on the ground" in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone "in the next 30 days."Some airlines that serve those nations have suspended flights, while international groups, including the Peace Corps, have evacuated some or all representatives in the region. But the Writebols, their pastor predicted, won't be away from the stricken land for any longer than they have to be."They knew that Liberia was a tough assignment," he said, comparing their vocation to the Bible's stories of leper colonies."Followers of Christ went into those colonies, knowing they would die," Munro said. "I certainly wouldn't judge them if they didn't go back, but I don't think this will deter them."---Hegeman reported from Wichita, Kansas.

175.44.55.99: Chaka Fattah’s Son Indicted On Fraud and Tax Charges

@@@
Photo |
Chaka Fattah Jr., son of United States Congressman Chaka Fattah and stepson of prominent NBC10 anchor Renee Chenault-Fattah, turned himself in to federal authorities on Tuesday morning. He has been charged with, in part, making false statements to banks to obtain loans, filing false income tax returns, failing to pay federal taxes, and stealing from the Philadelphia School District, according to an unsealed indictment in the case.
Here s what the U.S. Attorney alleges in its indictment:

鈥?Fattah Jr. falsely Louis Vuitton Tivoli obtained business lines of credit from banks and used that money to pay gambling debts, buy jewelry, make car payments, and pay for utilities, clothing, and electronics, among other things. One loan in particular 鈥斅燼 $50,000 loan from United Bank 鈥斅爓as allegedly used to pay more than $33,000 in gambling debts at casinos. The indictment also claims that Fattah wrote a $17,500 check from a business account to cover gambling debts at Sugarhouse.
鈥?He tried to settle debts with banks for less than what was owed, claiming that his company in question, 259 Strategies, was out of business, when in fact he was earning between $6,250 and $37,500 per month through that company, according to the government.
鈥?He stole funds provided by the federal government to the School District of Philadelphia and then concealed that theft.
鈥?He filed false income tax returns for 2005, Louis Vuitton Totally 2006, 2008 and 2009.
Fattah Jr. had been under investigation for more than two years.
In February 2012, the FBI removed subpoenaed documents from his home at the Ritz-Carlton on Broad Street. Their investigation reportedly involved whether Fattah Jr. landed big-ticket contracts thanks to his father's position. The feds have been taking a close look at the younger Fattah's finances.
Back in July 2013, a source close to the investigation told Philadelphia magazine that . One year later, it looks like his time is up.
On Tuesday morning in front of the Federal Courthouse, Fattah Jr. told that he has Louis Vuitton W done nothing wrong. In March, Fattah Jr. filed a claiming that the agency has ruined his ability to make a living in Philadelphia.
According to the U.S. Attorney, Fattah Jr. could face a "substantial term of imprisonment" as well as fines of more than $13 million.
