So last spring, Huff changed the way Penn State's running backs carry the ball, pointing to an study that said ballcarriers who hold the ball vertically fumble less. The transition took time and remains ongoing. But Penn State's backs enter training camp today ready to cleanse the fumbles from their memories.
When I came in, I got emails, letters and calls saying, 'These guys can't hold onto the ball?' " Huff said. "I told them, 'I don't know who those guys are.' That's over.
"Anybody can tell players to hold onto the ball. Heck, all 107,000 people in the stadium do it every Saturday. How you hold onto the ball is the question."
At Penn State, backs now call the ball, "the program." Huff brought that approach from Western , where he coached last year. Head coach P.J. Fleck wanted his backs to take ball security so seriously that "it kills you to put the program on the ground."
To prevent that, Huff asked his running backs to carry the football with the tip pointed toward their chins. Huff quoted a recent NFL study of fumbles, which noted that backs who hold the ball vertically fumble less.
Essentially, Huff said, it's difficult to dislodge a football that's being carried tight and vertically against the body. Former back learned that later in his career, curbing his fumbling tendencies by making the change.
During spring drills, Huff showed clips of backs who fumbled while not holding the ball vertically. On the field, he shouted "Chin" at them daily as a reminder of where to point the football.
Zwinak, who's four yards shy of 2,000 for his career, called the transition "weird" initially, since his muscle memory was so trained <a href=http://www.louisvuitton-pascher.com>Louis Vuitton Tivoli</a> to hold the ball a different way. But he felt more confident with the change as spring drills ended.

Belton has high expectations for his senior year, saying he wants to be considered among the best backs in the country. To do so, he has worked to run more physically and upgrade his pass-protections skills. Handling the ball, Belton said, was another part of his evolution.
"There are just some things you can't get around," he said. "It's something we had to deal with, and it was definitely awkward at first, but we got into the groove of things. Things continue to get worse for the Boston Red Sox, as they lose for a second consecutive game to the New York Yankees, this time 8-7 in Fenway Park with Brett Gardner hitting a game-winning home run in the sixth inning, capping off a furious Yankees rally and comeback before some strong closing innings from Esmil Rogers, Dellin Betances and David Robertson.
If there was any hope for the Red Sox to reach the playoffs, this series with the Yankees in Fenway ended all of that. Losing a three run lead with three innings to go, with some awful pitching, which isn t new to this season of a World Series champion falling apart.

Catching up with the Blue Jays and Orioles seems difficult, but they re only 1.5 games behind Toronto and five behind Baltimore. They re tied with the Royals for the chase after the Wild Card spot, sitting 1.5 games behind both the Blue Jays and the Angels, hoping that once everything settles from all their changes, they can build the kind of streak that puts them in the postseason, as if nothing has changed.

The Anglican Bishop of Canberra and Goulburn has released a public apology for "any abuse and mistreatment" that may have been experienced by individuals as "a result of their engagement with our church".
The text of the apology, to be read out by Bishop Stuart Robinson at a "Lamentation Sunday" service this weekend, was made public on Tuesday afternoon and is targeted at childhood victims of sexual abuse.
Lamentation Sunday fulfils a pledge made by the bishop during his charge to the Diocesan Synod in Goulburn last September when he led the synod in a confession for past failures by the diocese to respond appropriately to child sex abuse.

Almost half of the 191 alleged cases were linked to just 27 people and, in some cases, the abuse extended over three years.
The study also found there were "long delays" in the reporting of abuse, the average amount of time being 23 years.
"Just over half of the cases were treated as substantiated by the church and a third as inconclusive with erroneous allegations by child complainants being rare," it said.
Speaking at last September's synod, Bishop Robinson warned members the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Assault "will shake <all> the churches to their foundations".

She said reports made by the Thai surrogate mother that the couple had requested an abortion when they found out Gammy had Down syndrome, and that they had subsequently abandoned the baby boy, were completely false.
The birth of the twins had been planned to take place at a major international hospital in Thailand.
But Ms Pattharamon had gone to another smaller hospital, which made the surrogacy agreement void, according to the couple. This meant the Farnells had no legal rights to the babies, even though they were the biological parents.
The babies were born two months premature due to complications. She said the couple was not told that Gammy had Down syndrome, but they were told he had a congenital heart condition.
''Gammy was very sick when he was born and the biological parents were told he would not survive and he had a day, at best, to live and to say goodbye,'' the friend said.
Ms Pattharamon then said she wanted to keep Gammy and give him a proper Thai funeral.
The couple became embroiled in a legal battle to bring home the female twin. The 21-year-old surrogate mother finally agreed to hand the baby girl over, but the couple were terrified she could change her mind.

I know that, for a mum with cancer, I have it relatively easy. Hodgkin's is curable. There's a decent chance I will have six months of chemo and then I'm done. I'm not being given months to live. Surgery and radiation are unlikely. I have a supportive husband, good insurance, a job at a wonderful company, and friends <a href=http://www.saclouisvuittonhomme.com>Sac Louis Vuitton SC Bag</a> and family who are happy to help with my daughter or the dog. Many people have it much worse.

Since the discovery of the mass in my chest, what I've been most struck with is how much joy she has. Her joy at my arrival home from work, at reading a book (for the 500th time), at eating a new food, lift up my mood and make the days not just bearable but enjoyable.
And so here I am. Writing can be therapeutic, and selfishly I'm hoping to find answers from parents who've been here. I will use this as an excuse to call experts to get tips on how to deal with this, what to tell kids at different ages, how to learn to ask for help when you need it. I'd like to explore the joy and stress. I'd like to know when, or if, I get to be selfish. I'd like to know what to expect when they start pumping these drugs into me.

Every year since 2001, the Southwest Regional Tournament has been held in Waco.
The winner advances to the Little League World Series.
The week-long event brings an increase in visitors to the city.
"In reality, we're bringing in an event that is bringing about a quarter million in revenue to the city," says Regional Director Sergio Guzman.
The teams and their supporters, who come from as far as New Mexico and Colorado, are responsible for increased business at local restaurants and hotels.
"It brings in a lot of other people from other states, and I think you get to see what Waco has," resident Aaron Fiorentino said.
"This is an incredible facility right in our own back yard and I just think it's awesome that this Southwest Regional is held here in Waco, Texas."
Guzman says the community as a whole is what Little League was founded on; calling them a "grass roots program."
Games are played at the George W. Bush Little League Center at 3700 University Parks Drive through Wednesday. Admission is free.

A leading surrogacy lawyer, Stephen Page, called for criminal checks in Australia before intended parents engage a surrogate overseas.
Australian parents who have a child born to a surrogate in a foreign country are subject to a check by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection to determine the child's eligibility for citizenship, but not whether the parents have a criminal history.
In contrast, Australian parents adopting a child from overseas or domestically must undergo strict background checks. Australian couples undergoing IVF also undergo criminal checks in Victoria.

On Tuesday a friend of Mr and Mrs Farnell issued a statement to Fairfax Media's Bunbury Mail to give the couple's side of the story for the first time.
David Farnell is a well-known Bunbury electrician. He has three grown-up children and is believed to have married his second wife, Wendy Li, in China in 2004.
''This has been absolutely devastating for them, they are on the edge,'' the family friend said.
''Legally they have been told not to say anything but they wouldn't be able to anyway.''
She said reports made by the Thai surrogate mother that the couple had requested an abortion when they found out Gammy had Down syndrome, and that they had subsequently abandoned the baby boy, were completely false.
The birth of the twins had been planned to take place at a major international hospital in Thailand.
But Ms Pattharamon had gone to another smaller hospital, which made the surrogacy agreement void, according to the couple. This meant the Farnells had no legal rights to the babies, even though they were the biological parents.
The babies were born two months premature due to complications. She said the couple was not told that Gammy had Down syndrome, but they were told he had a congenital heart condition.
''Gammy was very sick when he was born and the biological parents were told he would not survive and he had a day, at best, to live and to say goodbye,'' the friend said.
Ms Pattharamon then said she wanted to keep Gammy and give him a proper Thai funeral.
The couple became embroiled in a legal battle to bring home the female twin. The 21-year-old surrogate mother finally agreed to hand the baby girl over, but the couple were terrified she could change her mind.
''All this happened when Thailand was in a military lockdown and <a href=http://www.saclouisvuittonhomme.com>Sac Louis Vuitton Galliera</a> very difficult to get around,'' the friend said.
''The biological parents were heartbroken that they couldn't take their boy with them and never wanted to give him up, but to stay would risk them losing their daughter also.

Mr and Mrs Farnell spent two months in Thailand and extended their visas but due to the unrest said they had no option but to leave without Gammy.
A fundraising campaign has raised almost $220,000 for Gammy's medical costs and long-term care.
The fallout from the case threatens an estimated 200 Australians who seek surrogacy arrangements in Thailand every year.

Ignorant barely begins to describe this statement. Mike Fair clearly doesn鈥檛 have the faintest grasp of biology or genetics. He鈥檚 the last person that anyone should want to weigh in on science standards. His behavior goes far beyond mere ignorance, though: not only is he wrong, but he wants to use the power of the state to impose his religious views, under the guise of science, on every student in South Carolina鈥檚 schools. No wonder South Carolina is perennially ranked near the bottom of the country in public education.
I have a confession to make. I grew up in South Carolina and went through the public schools there, from kindergarten right through high school. I met lots of guys like : popular, plays on the football team, student body president. These guys are usually bullies (we鈥檝e all seen the movie), and that鈥檚 just what Fair is demonstrating now: he wants to bully every teacher, and every child, into listening <a href=http://www.saclouisvuittonhomme.com/trunks-et-sacs-damier-ceinture-28>Trunks et sacs Damier ceinture</a> to his ignorant views of science. Fair and his colleagues in the Republican-dominated S.C. House of Representatives argue that no, they aren鈥檛 forcing teachers to teach creationism 鈥?they just want to teach the controversy. Equally appalling is the position of the S.C. Superintendent of Education, , :

Let me see if I understand: Mike Fair doesn鈥檛 want religion and civil laws to be 鈥渋nextricably connected鈥?鈥?but he does want to require that public, state-funded schools teach his religious view of the creation myth. I guess what he meant to say is that it鈥檚 okay to mix religious fundamentalism and civil law, as long as it鈥檚 Mike Fair鈥檚 brand of Christian fundamentalism.
South Carolina doesn鈥檛 even need its own set of science standards, nor does Texas, Louisiana, or Kansas. The laws of science don鈥檛 change when you cross state lines or national borders. Allowing politicians to set science standards is a recipe for disaster, and is one reason why the U.S. continues to lag the rest of the world in science education鈥攁s South Carolina has once again demonstrated.

It urges leaders to protect the rights of girls including enforcing or enhancing legal protections, raising awareness with communities about the harm of child marriage and developing national strategies to combat it. To be effective, this campaign needs to have measurable targets, and real political weight behind it.
There couldn t be a better time for African leaders to demonstrate their real commitment to ending child marriage than at a global summit aimed at the next generation. African leaders and their governments need to outline concrete steps to unlock the potential of adolescent girls including through policies to end child marriage and help pregnant and married girls to continue their schooling.
African leaders and donor countries like the United States need a shared vision for this effort. The New Jersey State Supreme Court ruled yesterday that rap lyrics introduced at a defendant s murder trial were prejudicial and should not have been allowed聽into evidence. The N.J. Supreme Court upheld an appellate court s ruling that reversed the conviction.
The case stems from the November 8, 2005, shooting of Lamont Peterson. Peterson was hit seven times in the back, torso and head, and told police on the way to the hospital that Vonte Skinner shot him. While searching Skinner s car, police found several notebooks of rap lyrics 鈥?many of which included violent themes. The <a href=http://www.louisvuitton-pascher.com/19-porte-monnaie>Porte-Monnaie</a> lyrics were read at Skinner s first trial, which ended in a mistrial when the jury couldn t reach a verdict.
The defense objected to the introduction of the lyrics before Skinner s retrial, but a court again ruled them admissible. Skinner s rap handle was apparently Real Threat; he has a Threat tattoo. At the second trial, a detective testifying for the State read extensively from defendant鈥檚 lyrics to the jury, the Supreme Court wrote in its opinion. The trial transcript of that uninterrupted reading stretches thirteen pages. The material was replete with expletives and included graphic depictions of violence, bloodshed, death, maiming, and dismemberment.

But the court says those lyrics weren't affiliated with the alleged crimes.
Those verses, along with several more pages not reproduced here, plainly depict various crimes and other bad acts, but those crimes and acts were unconnected to the specific facts of the attempted-murder charge against defendant. The State did not attempt to clarify or explain the lyrics in any way, despite their heavy use of slang and otherwise esoteric language. <>..]

The difficulty in identifying probative value in fictional or other forms of artistic self-expressive endeavors is that one cannot presume that, simply because an author has chosen to write about certain topics, he or she has acted in accordance with those views. In the past three months, we are seeing about a 12 percent increase per month in our emergency room visits, Sheila Currans, CEO of Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana, told Weber in a broadcast. 
 
鈥淢any of the patients that come have multiple chronic conditions that have been undeserved, Currans said in the broadcast. Diabetic. Obesity. Vascular disease. And so they come with chronic conditions and they don鈥檛 really have a primary-care physician. And so the ability to get them into a primary-care setting, into specialty-care settings, becomes more difficult without that primary-care person to refer and to kind of coordinate and manage that care. 
 
Currans added, 鈥淧rimary-care physicians have got to lead this transformation in health care, because 鈥?they can take care of the whole patient. We have to reform the payment system so that the primary-care physician can spend 30 minutes with you and/or can spend 15 minutes with you, but can hand you off to a professional within their office that can help educate, continue to educate, re-mediate.鈥?br>
 
Norton Hospital in Louisville has also seen a 12 percent spike in the number of patients, many for non-emergency reasons, Laura Ungar reported in The Courier-Journal. Weber reports that the 12 percent increase in emergency room visits is pretty consistent with the state average. 
 

 
 
This is not a new problem, according to Jill Midkiff, spokeswoman for the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. 
 
鈥淜entuckians suffer poorer health than many other Americans, and have traditionally utilized emergency rooms at a higher rate. This is not a new phenomenon, Midkiff said in an email. She said Kentucky is working on the problem, focusing on so-called super-utilizers who use ERs at least 10 times in a year. 
 
Last summer, Kentucky was one of seven states chosen to participate in the National Governors Association Policy Academy on emergency-room utilization, with particular focus on managing super-utilizers, Midkiff said. 
 
People who have never had insurance often don t know how to use their benefits, which also adds to the number of people using the emergency room instead of seeking a primary care physician, Midkiff said. There is a steep learning curve to navigating the healthcare system and all providers and the insurance companies must help educate the newly insured, she said. 
 
Part of that effort is being handled by the companies that manage the care of Medicaid patients under contracts with the state that reward them when expenses are less than expected. 
 
The Kentucky Health Benefits Exchange, branded as Kynect, is developing some very basic Insurance 101 materials to help educate the newly insured about how to find a primary care physician, when to seek health care services, when to visit the ER, how to use pharmacy benefits, as well as providing a glossary of commonly used insurance terms, Midkiff said. We think this fills a real need and will help consumers more appropriately and efficiently use their health care coverage. 
 
Midkiff said emergency rooms have long been considered the de facto primary care center, with some hospitals even advertising the average wait times on websites and remote-controlled billboards. This provides a confusing message to those who are newly covered, she said. Many hospitals across the country have revised their health-care delivery model to include both emergency services and immediate care to adapt to the increased and changing demand for services. 
 
Many hospitals around the country have done that, and are profiting. Hospital chains and insurers are making more money, more patients using ERs are paying for their care, and the country as a whole is enjoying slower growth in its health-care spending, Alex Wayne and Shannon Pettypiece of Bloomberg News report, on the basis of public filings by hospital chains.

 "We made <Little>Rascals] so quickly," Blake recalls. "Where we really became friends was after the movie had wrapped and then we did the press tours together, that was really fun. We got to travel, got to do all this cool stuff. And since we were kids, we would do things like go to a press event at FAO Schwartz. That was like the greatest thing in the world!" A lot of the cast had moved to L.A. to work and to continue auditioning after the movie," he continues. "But then we sort of lost touch as school went on and everybody went their separate ways. About four years ago we got back in touch thanks to Facebook, we all sort of found each other." McIver made headlines last year when his part-time job as a go-go dancer in West Hollywood was uncovered -- something he was doing to finance his new album. "It was really weird because I had done it in complete anonymity for about six months. I was just putting cash away to produce this record, that was my only goal," he says of his dancing gig. "I needed quick money, I don't have the money, I can make money silently and make music. It was all for the best, it was so weird. I thought no one would care!" Blake released his album "The Time Manipulator" earlier this year -- !
