27.153.160.112: NBA update- Hawks sale unlikely to help Seattle, but TV deal could boost effort

@@@
There's little hope an NBA owner's announcement he'll sell his share in the Atlanta Hawks will lead the team to Seattle.
Insiders say there is more reason for optimism about the league's return to Seattle thanks to a new report out Monday.
Hawks co-owner Bruce Levenson said Sunday he would sell his controlling interest in the team after revealing he wrote a racially insensitive email to fellow owners and the team's General Manager, saying the team's fan base was too black.
"My theory is that the black crowd scared away the whites and there are simply not enough affluent black fans to build a significant season ticket base," he wrote in the lengthy email. He complained the "kiss cam was too black," and the team needed more "white cheerleaders."
The news set social media ablaze in Seattle, with many wondering if investor Chris true religion sale Hansen could swoop in and make good on his effort to bring the NBA back to the Emerald City.
KING 5 reporter Chris Daniels, who has closely followed Hansen's attempts, told the league has little reason to allow the Hawks to leave Atlanta.
"The odds are slim that the NBA would be interested in moving out of the Atlanta market, especially when they're about to sign, it sounds like, a new television deal."
At the same time, that TV deal could be the key to bringing the NBA back sooner rather than later, said Daniels.
The Sports Business Journal the NBA and its Louboutin Shoes Outilet network partners expect to reach a deal on a new long-term TV and digital media contract with ESPN and Turner Broadcasting by the start of the season.
When the NBA rejected Hansen's bid to buy the Sacramento Kings in 2013 and move them to Seattle, focus shifted to acquiring a potential expansion team. But that was predicated on a new media deal that now seems to be coming to fruition.
"A lot of people connected with it (bringing the NBA back to Seattle) have been waiting for that deal to get finalized because it will lay out just how much money exists in that deal and what kind of share a Seattle expansion franchise would mean," Daniels says.
Last year, some owners, including the Maverick's Mark Cuban, said they didn't think the math penciled out for the league to add any more teams. Daniels said the landscape has changed dramatically with the record prices paid for Sacramento and Steve Ballmer's $2 billion purchase of the Clippers.
"We have seen the franchise valuations and the TV and digital rights valuations on local and national levels just skyrocket since then," Daniels said.
According to Daniels, Seattle remains an extremely appealing target for both the NBA and the National Hockey League. Daniels said events like last week's NFL season opener between the Seahawks and Packers further Christian Louboutin Outlet underscores the viability.
"That was a five-hour infomercial for Seattle," he said of the national broadcast on a Chamber of Commerce day seen by nearly 27 million people. "The NBA and NHL sees that and sees the interest and the support in the fan base for professional sports in this town."
Daniels said the NHL wants to be in Seattle even more than the NBA at this point, but doesn't want to commit to the city while an arena deal remains unresolved.
A memorandum of understanding between Hansen, Seattle and King County calls for completion of an environmental review and acquisition of an NBA team before construction can begin.
Daniels said the Seattle Department of Planning and Development told him Monday the environmental review is moving slower than originally anticipated, and likely won't be completed until at least January. He said there doesn't seem to be much political interest in altering the deal to accommodate the NHL first at this point.

Active-shooter drills have become ways that law enforcement, fire and school officials prepare for dealing with a gunman or mass shooting. But what can families and members of the general public do to be better prepare for the unthinkable? That s what officials plan to answer during two separate community forums slated for this week at Saint Martin s University in Lacey and South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia. The free events, titled Surviving an Active Shooter, are open to the public and organized by officials from Thurston County s local law enforcement agencies, fire departments, Medic One, three colleges and Homeland Security Region 3. We spend a lot of time in the emergency response Jimmy Choo Miami community preparing for these (types of situations), said Lacey Fire District 3 chief Steve Brooks. ...We feel like the next important step is to help our community better prepare. The forums will include remarks by law enforcement and fire officials, a kid friendly video, a question-and-answer session for participants and refreshments. In addition, Thursday s event will mark the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attack with a joint honor-guard presentation. We ll have a moment of silence and commemoration of our nation s tragedy, said Jesi Chapin, coordinator for Homeland Security Region 3.Chapin said active-shooter events are something families should talk about because having a plan in place and knowing when to run, hide or fight can save lives. Chapin and Brooks said Michael Kors Watch White the forums are needed because of incidents such as the Clackamas Town Center shooting outside Portland in December 2012, which killed three people; and the Aurora, Colorado, theater shooting in July 2012, which killed a dozen people and injured 58 others. We re really hoping to especially get families in there, to develop a plan on what to do, Chapin said. The forums are meant to increase public awareness on the issue, and precede a full-scale, active-shooter drill that will be held Jimmy Choo Wedding Shoes at South Puget Sound Community College in April, Chapin said. The first forum will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Saint Martin s Norman Worthington Center, 5300 Pacific Ave. SE, Lacey. The second will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at SPSCC s Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts, 2011 Mottman Road SW, Olympia. Reservations are not required; for more information, call Chapin at 360-867-2826.
It's easy to dismiss the idea of workplace culture as so much executive-espoused psychobabble. There's something innately silly about using the word "culture," so closely associated with high achievement in the arts, to describe a roomful of cubicles or the manner in which an office distributes its happy hour memos. Isn't this the kind of thing Dave Eggers , one more way in which a company leaches the time and spirit of its employees?

But look beyond your cynicism, and you'll see that Christian Louboutin Sale the idea of office culture refers to something very real (and probably not evil). After all, every workplace is a societal microcosm, laying bare our best and worst tendencies in miniature. The well-being of a company's employees can weigh heavily on its success, so it really does matter if, for instance, the manner in which they're distributing their happy hour memos is fostering an environment of openness and clear communication.

27.153.160.112: ALEXANDRIA, Va.- Marriage of newlyweds, ages 96 and 95, questioned

ALEXANDRIA, Va. In some ways, Rebecca Wright doesn't understand all the fuss over her 96-year-old mother's recent marriage. After all, she says, "Anybody who wants to get married must have a little dementia."The courts, though, and some of Wright's other relatives aren't amused. And the future for newlyweds Edith Hill, 96, and Eddie Harrison, 95, is very much uncertain. The two have been companions for more than a decade after a Hollywood-style meet-cute they struck up a conversation while standing in line for lottery tickets, with one of the tickets turning into a $2,500 winner. They married earlier this year, with a 95-year-old church elder presiding over the ceremony, no less."I guess I wanted company," Hill said in an interview, explaining why she married. "I wanted somebody I could help, and they could help me. ... We were both single. My husband was gone. His wife was gone. We became the best of friends."Robin Wright, Hill's granddaughter, said the relationship is more romantic than Hill's explanation allows."You catch them kissing all the time," she said. "They're actually in love. Really in love. ... I know he's part of the reason she gets up every morning."Legally, though, Jimmy Choo Wedding Shoes the wedding has been problematic. Hill has been declared legally incapacitated for several years. A judge said at a hearing last month that he believes Wright co-guardian over her mother along with Rebecca Wright's sister who opposed the marriage acted improperly by taking her mother to get married without the court's permission.Cary Cuccinelli, representing the sister who opposed the marriage, Patricia Barber, said at last month's hearing that the wedding occurred without other family members' knowledge, and that it complicated the matter of how to eventually distribute Hill's estate, which includes property on the edge of Old Town Alexandria, worth about $475,000, according to real estate assessments."Legally, Mr. Harrison now has a right to a portion of Ms. Hill's estate," she told the judge, saying it also complicates decisions over who will care for Hill, and where she will live. While the judge, James Clark, found the marriage to have been improper, he also worried that breaking up the couple could "create a circumstance in Ms. Hill's life that she doesn't deserve."Clark ended up removing Wright and Barber as Hill's guardians, and appointing a lawyer, Jessica Niesen, instead. The judge instructed Niesen "to investigate the marriage and take all actions appropriate and reasonable to protect the best interests of Edith Hill."Niesen, in a phone interview, said she is still gathering facts and has an upcoming appointment to meet Hill and Harrison. While there are numerous issues to be sorted out, including questions about inheritance and where the couple will live, she would just as soon let the marriage continue."I see no reason to break this couple up, if Cheap Tory Burch there is no harm," she said. One solution might be a postnuptial agreement preventing Harrison from inheriting Hill's estate.Niesen said that if she finds that the marriage is not in Hill's best interest, she has the authority to pursue a divorce or possibly an annulment on Hill's behalf.Wright said she remained concerned authorities would try to break up the marriage. She also opposes a postnuptial agreement, saying the marriage should be respected just as any other. The interracial aspect of their marriage is unique as well. She is black and he is white. In fact, the longtime Virginians would not have been allowed to marry if they had met in their 20s or 30s or 40s, given Virginia's law banning interracial marriages at the time.Wright says she has concluded after doing some research through Guinness Book of World Records that the two are likely the nation's oldest interracial newlyweds.Edith Hill, for her part, doesn't give the interracial aspect of her marriage too much thought, despite the fact that for half of her life it would have been illegal.Asked about the old laws barring interracial marriage, she said, "That's done away with, isn't it?"For now, the two live together in Annandale, with Rebecca and Robin Wright helping care for them. Rebecca Wright said the two do a good job taking care Tory Burch Reva Flats Sale of each other his hearing is not great, and her vision is not great. They dance, listen to music and take walks, which has improved their health. And Rebecca Wright said the companionship two people of the same age provide each other can't be underestimated."They can talk about things that nobody else knows about," she said.Eddie Harrison said he and Hill never fight, and they both understood what getting married would mean."The first time I married I didn't know what I was doing," he said. "I was 18. She was 26. Two weeks later I wanted a divorce."

27.153.160.112: Respiratory virus that’s sent hundreds to the hospital isn’t in Wisconsin, but doctors are ready

@@@
MILWAUKEE (WITI) A respiratory virus has sent hundreds of children to hospitals, and it s causing alarm across the Midwest and beyond. Ten states have contacted the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for help investigating clusters of the virus that鈥檚 being blamed for the illness.
Health officials say they鈥檙e still working to figure out what鈥檚 going on.
The bug that appears to be causing most of the concern has a typically arcane name 鈥?Enterovirus EV-D68 鈥?but many of its symptoms are very common.
Enteroviruses, which bring on symptoms like a very intense cold, aren鈥檛 unusual. They鈥檙e actually very common.
When you have a bad summer cold, often what you have is an enterovirus, said Mark Pallansch, a virologist and director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention鈥檚 Division of Viral Diseases.
There are more than 100 types of enteroviruses causing about 10 to 15 million infections in the United States each year, according to the CDC. They are carried in the intestinal tract and often spread to other parts of the body.
The season often hits its peak in September, as summer ends and fall begins.
So why all the concern now?聽What鈥檚 unusual at the moment is the high number of hospitalizations.
There aren t any cases in Wisconsin currently, Gucci Eyeglass but there s concern we could see cases here in the near future.
In Colorado, nearly 900 children were treated for the illness, but the good news is that it s not typically deadly.
It can be severe in the asthmatic and the allergy kids population, Dr. Angela Tonozzi, the Director of Infection Prevention at Aurora Healthcare said.
Dr. Tonozzi says while there are no cases in Wisconsin currently, doctors here are prepared.
This is viral respiratory season, so we prepare for Enterovirus as we do every late summer/early fall, Dr. Tonozzi said.
An Gucci Outlet Store analysis by the CDC showed at least 30 Kansas City children tested positive for EV-D68, Missouri health officials said.
It鈥檚 a type of enterovirus that鈥檚 uncommon, but not new.
It was first identified in the 1960s and there have been fewer than 100 reported cases since that time. But it鈥檚 possible that the relatively low number of reports might be because EV-D68 is hard to identify.
EV-D68 was seen last year in the United States and this year in various parts of the world. Over the years, clusters have been reported in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Arizona and various countries including the Philippines, Japan and the Netherlands.
The virus can start as just a cold. Signs include coughing, difficulty breathing and in some cases a rash. Sometimes they can be accompanied by fever or wheezing.
Respiratory problems appear to the hallmark of EV-D68, according to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
鈥淢ost enteroviruses cause either a little bit of a cold or a diarrheal illness 鈥?a few cause meningitis,鈥?said William Schaffner, head of the Department of Preventive Medicine at Vanderbilt University. 鈥淭his one is the, if you will, odd cousin. It causes prominent respiratory symptoms. Why it does that, we鈥檙e really not sure.鈥?
Pay attention to the symptoms that your child is having. If they`re having wheezing for the first time that`s a definite symptom you need to go and seek care for or if they`re having wheezing that just won`t go away. If you re having difficulty breathing, you might need some oxygen. You might need some fluids if you get dehydrated and just specialized care and monitoring, Dr. Tonozzi said.
Like other enteroviruses, the respiratory illness appears to spread through close contact with infected people. That makes children more susceptible.
There鈥檚 not a Gucci Men Belt great deal you can do, health officials say, beyond taking commonsense steps to reduce the risk.
Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds 鈥?particularly after going to the bathroom and changing diapers.
Clean and disinfect surfaces that are regularly touched by different people, such as toys and doorknobs.
Avoid shaking hands, kissing, hugging and sharing cups or eating utensils with people who are sick. And stay home if you feel unwell.
There鈥檚 no vaccine for EV-D68.

27.153.160.112: SF Bulls to fold or move as soon as next week

@@@
From Chronicle Staff Writer Susan Slusser
After losses of $2 million last season and projected similar losses this Christian Louboutin Shoes Sale season, the San Francisco Bulls minor-league hockey team could fold as soon as next week, coach Pat Curcio told The Chronicle on Monday morning.
Curcio has a pending agreement with a new ownership group that would save the Sharks-affiliated franchise but relocate the team to Oakland or Fresno. The deal hinges on league approval and a new venue, and league meetings are Wednesday in Philadelphia. Curcio cannot name the new potential owners because of a non-disclosure agreement.
With the Bulls folding or moving and the 49ers moving to Santa Clara, the Giants will be the only pro sports team in the greater city area; the Bulls play at the Cow Palace in Daly City, just on the border of San Francisco.
鈥淚f anyone can save us 鈥? I don鈥檛 know what to do,鈥?said Curcio, who put together an ownership group to bring pro hockey to San Francisco in 2012 only to see investors drop out as losses mounted. 鈥淚 want to do what鈥檚 best for the city, the league and the Sharks. But we may have to cease operations next week if we don鈥檛 finalize this deal. It鈥檚 devastating.鈥?
The ECHL team would stay in the Bay Area only if the Warriors agree to allow the Bulls to play at Oracle Arena,聽 according to Curcio. The Bulls would reschedule all of their games to avoid conflicts with Warriors games and concerts, but the Warriors have first right of refusal to share the arena and so far have shown no inclination to allow the Bulls to play at Oracle on open dates on the schedule. It鈥檚 no secret that the Warriors have been exploring a move to San Francisco.
One major problem for the Bulls has been the Cow Christian Louboutin Shoes UK Palace, according to Curcio. The Bulls pay all their expenses at the building, and the team made numerous upgrades, including putting in a new ice system and scoreboard; the arena and the team split concessions and parking and the Cow Palace gets a cut of the tickets. The state-owned operated Cow Palace was unwilling to explore new terms, however, even with the Bulls on the brink of defaulting, Curcio said.
鈥淲hy not help us out, get us back on our feet and then make revenue when it comes?鈥?he said.聽 鈥淲e lost $2 million last year, the Cow Palace made probably $500,000 鈥?we said, 鈥楲et鈥檚 renegotiate,鈥?but that鈥檚 not going to happen. That鈥檚 the final nail in the coffin.鈥?
Cow Palace CEO Ken Alstott said Monday that he does not have information about the Bulls鈥?finances and that his understanding was that the team was restructuring its ownership group. Only then would there be the potential of talks about a new contract.
鈥淲e鈥檝e helped them with ideas about cutting costs and they鈥檝e done that,鈥?Alstott said. 鈥淚 know the league has meetings this week and they鈥檒l be talking about some of this.鈥?
Would the facility consider a new deal with the Bulls under new ownership? 鈥淚f it made sense we would,鈥?Alstott said. 鈥淏ut it has to be profitable for us or we鈥檇 rent the space out for other events. That鈥檚 part of this industry, things come and go.鈥?
Curcio claims that the Bulls have brought the city $16 million in revenue and jobs created in their season and a half, but, he said,聽 鈥淭he costs of doing true religion jeans business in San Francisco are the highest in the league. 鈥ut then you look, and every night, there are 1,000 kids in the stands, watching us and dreaming of being hockey players. You can鈥檛 put a price on that.鈥?
Among the issues, Curcio said, is that players are paying $3,000 a month in rent, given San Francisco鈥檚 housing costs.
鈥淭hey鈥檙e trying to operate a minor-league team in a major-league city,鈥?Alstott said. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 got to be tough. They鈥檝e been doing their best.鈥?
Curcio said he hopes to stay on as coach should the pending agreement with new ownership go through.

27.153.160.112: NFL Sends Appropriate Message On ‘Brutal’ Ray Rice Attack, Domestic Violence Groups Say « CBS Denver

@@@
DENVER (CBS4) - Groups working to prevent domestic violence welcomed the NFL s actions against Ray Rice on Monday but said professional sports need to do more to halt violence against women.
I like that they re doing this, and I really hope this is what they will continue to do, said Jeneen Klippel, the spokeswoman for Gateway Battered Women s Services in Aurora. (This punishment) needs to happen every time without fail. I think this sends a strong message to players, to other men in the country and to boys.
Swiftly and severely, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and the Baltimore Ravens condemned Rice s attack on his fianc茅, Janay Palmer, after surveillance video showed the player strike her and knock her unconscious in a hotel elevator in February. TMZ aired the video.
It s just brutal, said Victoria McVicker, the CEO at Safehouse Denver, an advocacy group for battered women.
Rice s penalty an indefinite suspension by the league and an immediate firing by the Ravens was far more severe than his original two-game suspension. It s also more stringent Gucci Backpack than the league s subsequent promise of six-game suspensions for players and NFL employees guilty of first offenses, and lifetime bans for second offenses.
VIC LOMBARDI COMMENTARY:
That revamped policy arrived after critics said the two-game suspension, initially meted out this summer, was too meager for Rice s actions.
What a wimpy punishment that was for Ray Rice, McVicker said.
The NFL s actions on Monday were more appropriate, she said: For the NFL to come out and suspend him for the brutality is huge because it goes beyond even what the commissioner s original change in policy was with domestic violence.
Monday s move offered Goodell the chance to correct a situation he said he mishandled.
I didn t get it right, he said in a letter to NFL owners last month. Simply put, we have to do better. And we will.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell (Photo by Elsa/Getty Images)
While she s happy the league said it s moving in that direction, Klippel said it s unfortunate the nation needed to see Rice assaulting his fianc茅, whom he has since married, to spotlight domestic violence.
Moreover, she said, it s worse the NFL required more video聽evidence before realizing the聽severity of Rice s聽crime.
What s troubling is that this happens every day to hundreds of thousands of women in our country, it s just not as highlighted in the media. It s very troubling that it takes this kind of an outcry, she said. It takes actually having the proof of it even his admitting it isn t even enough it takes an outcry from the public. That s really what it was. People started complaining and saying, This is ridiculous. That s barely a slap on the wrist.
According to the CDC and the U.S. Department of Justice, domestic violence impacts more than 12 million people each year in the United States. Approximately four in five victims are female.
Rice admitted this summer to attacking Palmer after portions of the video showed him dragging her unconscious body through Gucci Eyewear the elevator s doors. Monday s more complete video shows Rice striking her.
Reaction from around the NFL was quick Monday.
Broncos defensive lineman Terrance Knighton tweeted, This video makes me sick to my stomach.
He earlier said on Twitter: As players we must speak up. Stand up for what s right. I don t give a damn who u are or how much money you make. No place for this.
Before the NFL announced its punishment, Knighton tweeted: That man should be thrown out the the nfl and thrown into jail, apparently in reference to Rice.
Broncos cornerback聽also commented on Twitter, saying, The NFL should have zero tolerance for domestic violence. There is never a reason for any man to be violent towards any woman.
The team s聽head coach John Fox said Monday his players are aware of the severity of attacking women.
鈥淢y personal thing is there s no place for it in our league or really in our society. We addressed it with our team. The league has obviously pushed out information in that area to the players as far as the penalties and repercussions of any charge in that area. It s something I think our guys understand. I m not worried. They ve done a good job to date and will hopefully do a good job moving forward.鈥?
He said this isn t the first time the team has focused on stopping domestic violence.
We ve talked about it before, he said. There s a whole list of do s and don ts in our league Gucci Watches Women so that s always been one. But it s kind of been highlighted here of late and the penalty has stiffened.
Ray Rice and Janay Palmer address the media in May. (Photo Credit: Rob Carr/Getty Images)
McVicker said she hopes other professional sports leagues will follow the NFL s example.
That s why this is so huge to have this on a national stage, she said. What we ve been asking for for so long is for the NFL, and the NBA, NHL, and MLB to follow suit in taking this very seriously because it sends a message to youth of both genders and to fans.
If it means the NFL needs to spread that message, that s fine by Klippel.
It s time we stand together, she said. And if it takes pro sports to do it, then we re OK with that. Let s get this message out there: Everyone deserves to be safe in their home, period.
SAPPINGTON 鈥⒙燘oth Lindbergh and Mehlville had trouble scoring points in their first two games, but neither could figure out a way from keeping their opponent out of the end zone.Something had to give Monday, and it was Lindbergh which found its footing, rolling past Christian Louboutin Sale the visiting Panthers 30-7.The game was postponed Friday because of severe weather. It resumed Monday with 7:58 to go in the first quarter and Mehlville in possession at its own 36-yard line with a second-and-5.Mehlville (0-3) picked up a few first downs, but the drive fizzled out. Neither team put much together in the first quarter and the game remained tied 0-0.In the second quarter, a couple of big plays opened it up for the Flyers (1-2). The first, a 52-yard pass from quarterback Sam Neumeier to Justin Marchand, put the ball at Mehlville's 5. Two plays later, senior Steven Washington scored from 2 yards out to give Lindbergh a lead it would not relinquish. The point-after attempt was blocked by the Panthers, but senior Logan Offner added a 45-yard field goal late in the first half for the Flyers to make it 9-0 at halftime. The third quarter was all Lindbergh."We were hitting our assignments and my reads were right," michael kors bags Neumeier聽said about his offense's turnaround in the second half. "We didn't really do anything all that different. We'll be ready to play," Farrell said.Lindbergh scored two touchdowns in the third quarter. The first at 11:33 was a 40-yard toss from Neumeier to Marchand. It was the second play of the second half. Neumeier scored on a 2-yard run with 3:20 to go in the frame, and Malik Johnson closed out the scoring with 32-yard run on the first play of the fourth quarter.Mehlville, which is in a rebuilding phase, averted the shutout when senior quarterback Matt Mik connected with senior Joe Ghormley on a 71-yard touchdown pass.聽Mehlville will also have a quick turnaround when it plays Friday at Seckman.

Retired Olympia businesswoman Hillary Joseph fits the description of a people-loving, extroverted world traveler. So it s no surprise that she voices unabashed enthusiasm for Friendship Force International.Friendship Force was launched in the Christian Louboutin Louis White House in 1977 by Presbyterian minister Wayne Smith with the full support of President Jimmy Carter as a nonprofit, cultural exchange group promoting peace through friendships. The Olympia chapter formed in 1984 and Hillary Joseph and her husband, Rocklin Perrott, joined the local chapter in 2007.Two or three times a year, a contingent of 20 or so visitors from Friendship Force chapters in the United States or foreign countries come to the Olympia area for weeklong home visits with Olympia chapter members, some 60 people. The guests pay their own travel expenses and an exchange fee charged by Friendship Force to cover the costs of mapping out the logistics of the visit. In addition, members of the Olympia chapter travel in groups to other chapter sites here and abroad. Olympia chapter members were among the first to visit a chapter in South Korea. That was in 1986.Joseph and Perrott have hosted families and individuals from Egypt, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Canada, the Netherlands, Azerbaijan and Texas. Some of their guests speak English. Some don t, including a fellow from Indonesia who sat down at the host family s piano and belted out a medley of Elvis Presley songs. The Olympia couple has yet to travel overseas to a Friendship Force family s home, but it probably won t be long before they do. They ve always been the kind of world travelers that immerse themselves in the local culture, staying at hostels or the home of someone they meet in the countries they visit. It s a great way to connect with human spirit in a way that isn t going to happen on a tour bus, Rocklin, 65, said. The global community that is Friendship Force included in 2011 more than 370 clubs with roughly 18,000 members in 54 countries. That year, about 4,500 people participated in exchanges as traveling ambassadors, and many more served as hosts. Joseph said citizen ambassadors visiting Olympia from all over the world typically shower their host families with gifts, and love to bring pictures of their places back home. A common mistake among her guests: They think the Washington state capital city is Seattle.Joseph and other Olympia hosts quickly set the record straight by showing them the state Capitol in Olympia. The Temple of Justice on the Capitol Campus is another popular destination for visitors who want to see democracy in action, he said.Other favorite sites to visit in the region include Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, the Olympic mountains, the Olympia Farmers Market, the South Sound waterfront, Nisqually Wildlife Refuge and area Jimmy Choo India Sandals historic homes and museums.Organizers attempt to match visitors with their hosts in ways that avoid obvious conflicts. For instance, they try not to pair smokers with non-smokers or people allergic to pets with pet owners. But a diversity of world views, religions and political persuasions is more common than not. I m Jewish and I ve had Muslims staying in my home, Joseph said. That s one reflection of the theme, the mission, the mantra of Friendship Force: Create a world of friends that expands into a world of peace. On Sept. 20, Friendship Force Olympia is sponsoring an evening with travel writer and Public Broadcasting Service travel show host Rick Steves at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts. The theme for the 7 p.m. talk is: Changing the Way You See the World. Joseph said the event s goal is to recruit new members to Friendship Force, not necessarily raise money. As with many nonprofit groups and private clubs, the membership is aging and in need of some younger members. Joseph knows that younger people are often too busy with their careers and families to find the time to travel overseas. But that s no reason for younger adults not to join Friendship Force, she offered. The beauty of Friendship Force is you can see the world without traveling by being a host, she said. For more information on the Olympia chapter Kate Spade Daisy Earrings and upcoming events, visit www.olympiafriendshipforce.org.

27.153.160.112: Penn State football coach Franklin, players react to NCAA sanctions being lifted

Though senior safety Ryan Keiser called the team's reaction pure excitement and just joy, he repeatedly said players were thankful and appreciative. Center Angelo Mangiro said the offensive line was watching film of Rutgers 10 minutes after the meeting. And Franklin made an important distinction regarding bowl games. It's amazing how many people texted me and emailed me last night and said, 'How awesome that you're bowl-eligible,' Franklin said. We're not bowl-eligible. We have an opportunity to go to a bowl game. We need to make sure that we can take care of our business this week, which is Rutgers. Still, Franklin acknowledged the decision's importance to the program. For the past two years, players said they competed primarily for the fans, the university and each other. But, because of the scholarship limits, Penn State was forced to play with caveats. The team limited Tory Burch Resin Clutch hitting in practice, sought more walk-ons and exhausted itself to build creative depth charts.According to the initial 2012 sanctions, this season was supposed to be the first of four in which Penn State would field 65 scholarship players. The NCAA restored some of those scholarships last year. Now, Penn State will return to full scholarship strength three seasons before initially scheduled. Now there's nothing being held back from them, in terms of opportunities, Franklin said. They have the ability to chase their dreams now. Both Hull and Franklin said that Penn State owed plenty to former coach Bill O'Brien, now with the Houston Texans. Matt Millen, a former Penn State player who is tight with O'Brien, said that the coach spent his two seasons at Penn State doing everything in his power to get the sanctions reduced. I actually texted Billy last night thanking him for all that he's done the last couple years, because I think he's had a huge role in what's happened here, Franklin said.Hull praised three of his head coaches (Franklin, O'Brien and 2011 interim coach Tom Bradley) for helping the team navigate the last three years. It wasn't easy for any of the guys to take over in the position we were in, Hull said. They all did their part, and we owe them Tory Burch Classic Mini Bag a lot. On Monday night, thousands of students and Penn State fans visited Beaver Stadium, where they sang the national anthem and cheered for Joe Paterno, and downtown State College, where they celebrated in the area known as Beaver canyon.Penn State and State College police reported no significant incidents. Franklin said that was OK, so long as no one got hurt and nothing was damaged.

27.153.160.112: Why does MH17 crash report avoid the word ‘missile’-

@@@
Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 Crash Site Satellite Image
NEW YORK (CNN) The report into Malaysia Airlines Flight Gucci Ii Perfume 17 says everything. And yet it says nothing about the cause of the plane s crash and the criminals. It tells us that MH17 was brought down by high energy objects which were of external causes and never once uses the word missile. How can this be?
The purpose of the preliminary report is not to apportion blame; that is left to prosecutors and courts who deal with those who caused this atrocity. This investigation is all about finding out what happened and making sure it never happens again.
Once you understand that, reading the report makes sense. There is a great deal about how the plane got to be flying where it was, how engine oil was added in Amsterdam airport before MH17 flew into Ukraine and some thundershowers. The report details how the plane was flying legally, over eastern Ukraine and in unrestricted air space. That point is made again and again, lest anyone wants to suggest otherwise.
The reports goes into the routine progression of the flight. How the pilots asked for a slight change of course to the left to avoid bad weather, then air traffic control re-directed them to avoid Gucci Black Friday other planes in the area. Indeed, the report makes clear that there were three other large commercial planes in the area, two 777s and an A330. MH17 was the victim of the awfulness of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Hauntingly, when you read the transcript of the air traffic control communications, there were no warnings, no maydays, nothing. The plane just disintegrated after being hit by those high energy objects. It is left to the air traffic controller in Russia, who comments minutes after the incident, that it seemed as if the radar signature started falling apart. Other air traffic controllers say it s disappeared.
I have read many air traffic accident reports. In this report they have to make clear that the so-called black box s Gucci 1622 unique digital signature was correct for this aircraft. In other words, this was the right flight data recorder for that aircraft. The report made clear it had been neither switched nor tampered with.
This report is stark because it shows just how normal everything was until the second when the external causes hit. There is no long discussion about performance of engines, as they start to go wrong, no analysis of pilots actions as complex avionics start to flash warnings. Just the sad, awful fact that at 13:20 the plane was blasted out of the sky.
And it never says the word missile.

27.153.160.112: BAA files counterclaim against Baylor University

@@@
BAA is seeking a judgment compelling Baylor to uphold its obligations under an official recognition agreement, which it says establishes the BAA as the university鈥檚 official alumni association.
The organization also wants a Gucci Bangle Watch ruling preventing Baylor from continuing to operate its Baylor Alumni Network, which the lawsuit alleges was created to undermine the BAA鈥檚 alumni outreach and communication activities.
In a press release, BAA President Keith Starr, who is no relation to Baylor President Ken Starr, said the group has spent about a month trying to work out a settlement with Baylor, but those talks have failed.
Julie Hillrichs, a spokeswoman for the BAA, said attorneys for Baylor鈥檚 board of regents gave the BAA until Thursday to approve a settlement offer. But the alumni association appealed to extend the agreement until Sept. 6 so it could adopt new bylaws, a process that requires approval by two-thirds of its members, then take a full membership vote on the agreement.
The regents denied the request. The BAA filed its answer and counterclaim Wednesday in McLennan County鈥檚 74th State District Court.
鈥淎t the end of the day, our efforts at peace failed, and the timetable insisted on by the regents was unworkable,鈥?Keith Starr said in the press release. 鈥淣ow, we must reluctantly, but resolutely, defend the claims made against us and prosecute our counterclaims.鈥?
The BAA said the terms of the settlement offer must remain confidential.
Baylor spokeswoman Lori Fogleman said in an email: 鈥淥ver the course of the last two years, Baylor鈥檚 administration and Board of Regents have proactively engaged the alumni Gucci Belts Online association in negotiations. Our most recent discussions were with yet another group of leaders appointed by the association for this purpose. Regrettably, our attempts at resolution have been unsuccessful.
鈥淪adly, the association appears to be unable to chart for itself or to otherwise approve a productive course forward in support of Baylor University and its students. The association鈥檚 actions today are disappointing to us all.鈥?
Baylor鈥檚 lawsuit alleges that the BAA no longer has rights to use its name and licensed marks after the university moved to terminate licensing agreements with the alumni group in the fall.
The school is seeking a judgment barring the group from continuing to hold itself out as the university鈥檚 official alumni association and injunctive Cheap Gucci Sale relief 鈥渢o limit BAA鈥檚 purposes by reformation to provide only financial aid to Baylor students.鈥?
The university severed the arrangements after a failed attempt to approve a transition agreement that would have dissolved the BAA, allowed Baylor to assume most of the group鈥檚 alumni outreach activities and created a Baylor Line Corp. to continue producing the BAA鈥檚 The Baylor Line alumni magazine.
In its counterclaim, the BAA alleges Baylor is in violation of its agreements with the alumni group.
鈥淥ver the years, the relationship between the BAA and the university cherished by its members has soured,鈥?the counterclaim says.
鈥淏aylor鈥檚 administration and Board of Regents, determined to silence the BAA鈥檚 independent voice and to seize control of alumni relations and fundraising, embarked on a course toward the destruction of the independent BAA and the usurpation of its functions by the university. Baylor鈥檚 filing of this suit was the culmination of the effort to destroy the BAA.鈥?

27.153.160.112: Victor Conte says MLB testers are lousy fishermen

@@@
When I heard about the big bust in Florida, of Tony Bosh and his Biogenesis operation, I rang up Victor Conte.
Conte was the BALCO scandal kingpin who wound up serving an eight-month sentence, and since coming out has worked with, and offered to work with, numerous anti-doping agencies, lending his insider expertise to the good guys.
Conte runs Scientific Nutrition for Advanced Conditioning (SNAC) in San Carlos and trains/sponsors many top athletes, including Frank Gore and Michael Crabtree, and several boxers.
Here are some of Conte鈥檚 comments from our conversation Tuesday morning:
鈥淭he federal (sentencing) guidelines have changed since BALCO. I got an eight-month sentence, split into four and four鈥揻our months in a minimum-security prison and four months in an ankle bracelet. . .In my case I was the so-called heavy. Greg Anderson got three-and-three. Being the leader pushed me up into the eight-month category. What I鈥檓 telling you, one, when you have a conspiracy, the leader, Tony Bosch, will get an extra two points, which will push him up into a higher category on the federal sentencing guidelines. And secondly, the Feds have stated publicly that they adjusted the sentencing guideless, post BALCO, where it鈥檚 five times greater punishment now, as a result of the BALCO case. . .
鈥淭here鈥檚聽 going to be some leniency, (Bosch Cheap Christian Louboutin is) going to roll, I think. . .There was absolutely no cooperation by me with the Feds. The reason was that I was the leader, people trusted me, people were following me, I鈥檓 not going to turn around and give information on others. Early on I made the decision that I鈥檓 going to accept full responsibility and consequences for my wrongdoing, and if that means going to prison, that鈥檚 what I do. . .For me, the right thing to do was to accept full consequences and do my time. . .I guarantee you they will offer (Bosch) some sort of deal to testify against other people, and the punishments are five times greater today than they were for me. . .Unless he decides he can cut some deal and cooperate, takes a completely different approach than I did, it would seem he鈥檚 looking at some minimum security prison time.
聽
鈥淚 believe these other nine people are going to roll on him. That鈥檚 how the Feds operate, whoever rolls first gets the best deal. . .It鈥檒l be interesting to see who Christian Louboutin Shoes rolls on who first.
鈥淎ll this to me seems likely to add up to prison time, and far more time than I served.
聽
On the list of names of baseball players who were Biogenesis clients that the Feds say they uncovered:
聽
鈥淩emember when they said (after the initial Biogenesis scandal) there were about 100 players involved? And they came up with 14 or 15 that got some sort of suspension. It will be interesting to see, are they going to dribble out these other 85 names? Are they going to give out a list of all of them at the same time? You remember when the 104 players who tested positive during the survey in 2003, they came out with a couple of the names, and we never heard who the rest of them were? So it will be interesting to see how many of these 85 names come out.鈥?
聽
On MLB drug testing:
聽
鈥淚鈥檝e been saying this for years now. If you鈥檙e going to catch the fish, you have to put your hook and line in the water when the fish are biting. In the case of MLB, that鈥檚 the off-season. And believe me, in track and field or any sport, when you use PEDs during the off-season. . .in conjunction with an intense weight-training program, the gains you get will last you throughout the entire competitive season. . .That is my problem, that it says in the MLB agreement that they can test up to 375 players (in the off-season), which is about 30 percent of the league.
鈥淗owever, what the statistics show is, over the last five years, they average about 50 players per off-season. So if you have the right to test and you鈥檙e serious about cleaning up the sport, and you know when the fish are biting is during the off-season, and you have every right per the collective bargaining agreement to put your hook and line in the water when they鈥檙e feeding and biting, and you can test up to 375 players, why do you only test 50? So I don鈥檛 believe there鈥檚 a genuine interest in catching people. That鈥檚 a giant loophole that needs to be fixed.鈥?
聽
Conte was saying in 2011 that the biggest loophole in the MLB testing was tht the testing made it easy for players to use synthetic testosterone and get away with it, since it was traceable only for several hours.
聽
鈥淚 said the biggest loophole is synthetic testosterone, and they鈥檙e using this four-to-one (testosterone-to-epitestosterone) ratio, and not the Carbon Isotope Ratio testing (CIR), because you can circumvent the allowable T-E ratio in gucci outlet a matter of a few hours, where the other will be detectable for two weeks. . .
鈥淚 said at the time that I believe that MLB, on an annual basis, tests less than five percent of the samples collected using this CIR methods. And I said it鈥檚 likely less than one percent. Well, later MLB come out and said they had increased the amount of CIR testing, to 10 percent of the samples.
鈥淏asically, unless you鈥檙e being targeted because of a previous positive drug test or some other reason, typically in baseball they test you once when you get to training camp, that鈥檚 an IQ test, and then once during the season. Knowing that, once you get the only random test (during the season). . .I believe that means green light, you can use all the drugs you like because you鈥檝e already been tested twice.
鈥淒o I think a lot of these players that did get in trouble, the 15 with Biogenisis, did that serve as a deterrent, are guys a little more careful? Is there some benefit from this? Yes. But do I believe that the use of PEDs in major league baseball is still rampant? I do.鈥?

27.153.160.112: Kevin Love to Chicago Makes Cleveland the favorites in the East

The have proposed a trade for that would send , , and Euro League star to Minnesota, according to Chris Sheridan.
ICYMI, here is story on offering Gibson, Mirotic, McDermott for : Multiple news outlets confirming:
鈥?Chris Sheridan (@sheridanhoops)

I think this trade would actually hurt the Bulls and gives the Cavs an edge in the Eastern Conference. Chicago has already increased their offensive potential Louboutin Cheap by adding collegiate star McDermott, but they also get a lift from Mirotic, the MVP of the Spanish League's King Cup for Real Madrid. Both are unproven in the NBA but the potential for immediate contribution is promising. The depth they have built this off season would be devastating if this trade went down.
Now Kevin Love is a spectacular offensive player and a double-double machine on any given night, but if we dig a little deeper we can see that the trade not only weakens the depth of the playoff contending Bulls but also weakens them at power forward. The main player in the proposed trade for Kevin Love is power forward Taj Gibson. His dedication to defense as well as his scoring off the bench is instrumental to their success.
If we just look at the box score it appears that Love would be an upgrade over Gibson with averages of 26.1 points and 12.5 rebounds. If we look deeper and compare their touches and Jimmy Choo Isabel Champagne points per touch it becomes clearer that Love's production is linked to his usage as the primary scoring option in Minnesota. Gibson is coming off the bench and is not the Bull's number one scoring option. Even though Gibson doesn't have nearly as many offensive touches as Love, they still have identical points per touch at .30 and almost identical points per touch in the half court (see Michael Kors Python Clutch chart below). This is impressive for Gibson considering that he didn't have one 3-pointer throughout the entire 2013-14 season while Love made 190 3-pointers at a 37% rate. Obviously, Gibson makes better use of the limited touches he had considering all his baskets made were 2-pointers.
If we look at Gibson's productivity in the 2013-14 postseason, his offensive production increased substantially. Taking into consideration all players with at least 200 touches, he had the most points per touch in the playoffs at .46 and ranked second with .72 points per touch in the half court. I think it is clear that Gibson is greatly undervalued as an offensive weapon considering his usage versus that of Love as Minnesota's primary scoring option.

27.153.160.112: Baylor to take legal action to bar BAA from using university鈥檚 name, trademarks

@@@
In a May 19 letter to Gucci Consignment the association鈥檚 board of directors, Baylor President and Chancellor Ken Starr wrote that the university is 鈥減reparing the appropriate course鈥?to bar the BAA from continuing to act as an official alumni organization for Baylor.
The action stems from a lengthy battle between Baylor and the BAA over the alumni group鈥檚 independent status. The relationship was further severed after the association did not approve a transition agreement last fall that would have dissolved the organization鈥檚 independent charter and allowed Baylor to assume all alumni outreach and communications.
鈥淥ver many months, we have clearly and repeatedly communicated the possibility of the exercise of the university鈥檚 legal rights in the absence of an appropriate plan of action from the association,鈥?Starr wrote in the letter. 鈥淏ecause we cannot shrink from doing our duty to serve all Baylor alumni; to guard against demonstrable confusion about the university鈥檚 alumni program; and to protect the integrity of Baylor鈥檚 good name, we have determined, with great sadness, that the time has come for us to move forward.鈥?
In a written response to Starr dated May 30, former alumni association President George Cowden III charged that Baylor repeatedly has impeded the BAA鈥檚 efforts to continue its operations, including demolishing the Hughes-Dillard Alumni Center, which had been the BAA鈥檚 on-campus headquarters since 1978; locking the association鈥檚 staff out of offices they were using at Baylor鈥檚 Clifton Robinson Administrative Tower in December; and previous legal notices announcing Baylor鈥檚 intent to sever licensing agreements with the association.
鈥淒espite these and a raft of other obstacles to our continued operation, our all-volunteer group of dedicated Baylor alumni continues to press forward with a steadfast hope for an inclusive, transparent exchange of ideas,鈥?Cowden wrote in the letter.
The letter from Starr was written days after the BAA printed , a name Baylor also purports to hold trademark rights over.
That issue was themed 鈥淭he Real Story鈥?and gives the BAA鈥檚 account of the origins of its contentious relationship with the university.
Baylor spokeswoman Lori Fogleman said the letter was not in response to the issue, but instead stemmed from ongoing frustration at the BAA鈥檚 slow progress toward redefining for themselves a role that鈥檚 consistent with its historic charitable purpose and with its own governing documents.
Fogleman said about 50 percent of members surveyed after the Sept. 7 vote on the transition agreement were in favor of reorganizing into a foundation that primarily raises scholarships for students, for example.
鈥淲e allowed time for the development of a plan that, unfortunately, nine months later, we鈥檝e received no such proposal from the association, nor does the association seem any closer to bringing forward such a proposal,鈥?Fogleman said. 鈥淭he university remains profoundly saddened and disappointed that the association鈥檚 been unable to agree to a constructive course of action going forward.鈥?
The university previously ordered the group to cease using its name by Dec. 8, a notice issued in response to the failure of the transition agreement.
The agreement was negotiated between members of Baylor鈥檚 board of regents and a small group of association leaders over 10 months, though the full details of the document were only revealed to the alumni group鈥檚 full board of directors and membership in May 2013, when it was announced publicly.
The agreement garnered 55 percent of the Gucci Polos votes cast by the 1,499 members who participated in the vote, which had to be conducted in person at Waco Hall on Sept. 7, in accordance with the group鈥檚 bylaws.
But the BAA鈥檚 bylaws required a two-thirds majority for any measure to pass.
Baylor subsequently notified the group that it was terminating licensing agreements with the BAA that allowed the group to act as the university鈥檚 official alumni association and to use 鈥淏aylor鈥?in its name and activities.
The BAA has argued that those agreements are granted to the association 鈥渋n perpetuity鈥?and that Baylor does not have the right to void them.
Newly elected BAA President Keith Starr, who is no relation to Ken Starr, said the organization still plans to continue operating as the Baylor Alumni Association, and that the group is hopeful Baylor will honor the original licensing agreements.
鈥淣obody that I know of from the alumni association is looking for a fight with Baylor,鈥?Keith Starr said. 鈥淲e love the university. Nobody would serve on the alumni association board or assume a position of leadership within the alumni association if they weren鈥檛 committed to the university.鈥?
The BAA elected new officers and board members this weekend at its membership meeting.
The group also is soliciting online input from members this summer on three options for the organization鈥檚 mission: solely raising money for Gucci Shoulder Bags scholarships to Baylor students, focusing only on alumni communications and outreach, or being equally dedicated to both functions.
The association鈥檚 board of directors will evaluate the feedback and bring a formal recommendation for the full membership to vote on later this fall.
Keith Starr said the BAA has remained open to continuing to work with the university on a compromise.
鈥淭he best result would be a truly negotiated resolution of the differences between the organizations,鈥?he said. 鈥淚 can鈥檛 control what the university does, all I can do is be sensitive to what the members of the alumni association want to do with our organization, in accordance with the agreements that we have with Baylor.鈥?

He pointed to an incident two years ago at a Bethlehem Township motel: A guest left 1,400 packets of heroin in his room. The investigation led police to another room, where more drugs were found, along with strippers who were doing more than dancing.A week after that arrest, police were called back to the motel when a man was shot in the hallway during a robbery attempt. Some of the same names involved in the drug bust popped up during the shooting investigation, and then again weeks later when neighboring Colonial Regional police investigated an attempted robbery, Blake said. Prostitution is definitely not an isolated crime, he said. With it comes drugs, with drugs comes money and with both of those comes violence. Sex-trafficking lawsLawmakers in several Christian Louboutin Sale states have asked backpage.com to end its adult services section as Craigslist did in 2010 when it faced similar criticism.New Jersey attempted to pass a state law last summer to block ads that depicted minors on the site, but a federal judge ruled it unconstitutional because websites are protected under the federal Communications Decency Act, meaning they are not liable for the material people say or post. A year earlier, citing the same reason, a federal judge struck down a Washington state law that would have required backpage.com to verify the ages of people in sex-related ads.McDougall said Pennsylvania lawmakers have not attempted anything similar. She says shutting down a domestic website such as backpage would lead to similar ads on offshore websites that do not cooperate with police or report exploitation. She said backpage employs 80 staffers who filter through ads to monitor for exploitation. They look for any illegal activity, she said, especially human trafficking. An automated filter, she added, looks for certain key words such as teen and schoolgirl. McDougall said backpage has cooperated with police during numerous investigations. Offshore websites would not do any of the monitoring that we do to prevent exploitation, she said. The aim of stopping the sex trafficking of minors, indeed the trafficking of any human being, is laudable. However, identifying and vilifying a single U.S. website <previously>Craigslist, now backpage.com] as the cause of the problem and the key to the solution are ill-founded and unproductive. A bill passed by the Legislature this month broadens the definition of sex trafficking to include more prostitution cases. Sponsored by state Sen. Stewart Greenleaf, R-Montgomery, it defines sex trafficking as any commercial sex act in which a person is induced to perform by force, fraud, or coercion.Under the amended law, some prostitution-related offenses will be upped to felonies, according to Steve Zawisky, legal counsel for the House Democratic Caucus. For example, a john who knowingly patronizes a victim of sexual servitude is now looking at a second-degree felony, not a misdemeanor. The amendment also addresses the practice of withholding wages Christian Louboutin Larissa or drugs to force someone into prostitution.Zawisky, a former Dauphin County prosecutor, said his research found only one attempt in the state to prosecute under the old human trafficking statute, which covered forced labor or services but not involuntary servitude and had no clear definition of sex trafficking. Most trafficking offenses were handled by the federal government, he said.Zawisky believes the more detailed definition of sex trafficking will lead to more successful convictions. I do think it will increase county prosecutions, he said. This is a wake-up call. Helping the womenChanges in the law reflect a change in the way police and others have come to see prostitution. Often, they say, the women they arrest are actually victims.Helene Harris is a case in point. She ran away from home at age 15 and into the arms of a smooth-talking man who promised her the world. She ended up on an Allentown street corner, working the stroll. In three decades, Harris said, she endured countless beatings, dozens of prostitution arrests and an addiction to heroin and crack cocaine. She said one beating resulted in reconstructive surgery to her rectum. I didn't know any better, said Harris, now Tory Burch Socks 53 and sober for the past nine years. I really didn't enjoy what I did, but when you have pimps in your life, you have to do as they say or you suffer the consequences. Harris said she was picked up by Allentown vice officers at least 55 times and charged mostly with loitering with intent to prostitute, a citation she said would cost her $50 at the time.During an arrest in early 1990, she was sentenced to a year in prison and warned of a tougher sentence if she landed in court again. Instead of fixing her life, Harris moved to Easton and got more involved with crack cocaine. That led to several drug arrests, including some for selling so she could support her habit. She lost custody of her four children. When her parents died while she was in state prison, she knew the time had come for her to change.Harris was released from prison in December 2010 with only the state-issued prison garb to her name. She stayed with a relative in Easton and attended church groups and other counseling sessions to prevent a drug relapse.

27.153.160.112: Seattle City Councilman Bruce Harrell wants you to pay for abortions

@@@
Taken from Monday's edition of
Seattle City Councilman Bruce Harrell wants you all to pay for women's abortions.
He true religion sale , along with a couple co-authors, that they are asking Obama and Congress to overturn all federal bans on public coverage of abortion.
They write...
"Over 41 years ago, the US Supreme Court ruled in Roe v. Wade that every woman has a constitutionally protected right to make her own personal medical decisions about when and if to become a mother. For almost as long 锟?nearly 38 years 锟?the Hyde Amendment has undermined Roe v. Wade by barring public funds from covering abortion care, effectively cutting off access for most women enrolled in public government insurance. Many of those most affected are low-income women, women of color, and immigrant women, who already face significant challenges to accessing safe, respectful, timely health care. This isn't just a matter of reproductive freedom 锟?it's an issue of racial and economic justice."
This is apparently another social justice cause. Everything is about social justice, racial justice, economic justice. Not paying for a voluntary medical procedure when the vast majority of people who want the procedure are only getting it as a result of behavior they consensually engaged in, well, that's another racial and economic justice cause.
Now, I want to frame this conversation in a way it's almost never framed in, certainly not from people in the same ideological camp as Harrell.
Let's talk about it from the perspective of someone who doesn't support funds going to abortions. A lot of people don't want to pay for abortions, myself included, because we think life starts at conception. Now, people have varying degrees of passion on this. Here's my take: I'm not 100 percent positive life starts at conception. I've got no idea. I do believe in God, and I believe in science, and science can't answer this question, only God can, and God isn't giving us an answer. So until I have that answer, I have to err on the side of life, just to be safe.
I Christian Louboutin Replica understand where the other side comes from, where they either don't think life begins at conception or don't care. I understand that position and I respectfully disagree. And since this is my money we're talking about, I hope you'll recognize my position.
The Stranger article continues:
"If we pass this resolution, Seattle will become the first jurisdiction in the Northwest 锟?and the sixth nationally 锟?to declare its support for overturning the Hyde Amendment and restoring access to reproductive health care for every woman, regardless of her income or what kind of insurance she has."
But wait. No one's reproductive health care is limited under the Hyde Amendment. Abortions aren't banned. You just have to pay for them yourselves or go through a service that is subsidized via donations. You can still get your abortion. You just have to pay for it, just like if I want an elective procedure of some kind, I can get it, I just have to pay for it.
Harrell's piece continues:
"As women's reproductive rights are deliberately and strategically eroded in other states, passing the resolution shows that the Hyde Amendment and attacks on women's health do not reflect Seattle's values."
Can we stop referring to this having to do with reproductive rights? This is not an attack on women's health. You're not unhealthy if you can't get an abortion done. And the problem here, which is why I wanted to frame it with a clear understanding of why people are in favor of the Hyde Amendment, is because Harrell and other activists treat this like you just hate women if you don't pay for services they want.
You often hear the slogan "my body, my choice!" Ok fine, your body your choice, but it's not your choice when you're using my money. It ceases to be your choice. Christian Louboutin Shoes Sale If you want me to pay for it, I get a say in it.
What they really mean is "MY BODY, MY CHOICE, YOU PAY FOR IT!" It doesn't work that way. If you want an abortion and you're morally okay with it, go for it. I won't stop you. I won't try to close down a clinic and I won't prevent you from getting one, but I'm not paying for it because I find it in the morally ambiguous zone to say the least. We shouldn't have to violate our religious beliefs because you can't pay for something that is an elective medical procedure.
The estimate combines students taking credit classes and others, such as state workers, participating in training.City officials hope that influx of people will inject some life into the Woodland District and True Religion Mens Jeans specifically, Woodland Square Loop. Woodland Square Loop surrounds Huntamer Park, and many nearby office buildings have significant vacancies, the result of the recession and downsizing. Several of those buildings have a new owner: MJR Development of Kirkland. The city of Lacey also recently announced a plan to sublease from the college about 1,000 square feet in Building 2 to create a military service Michael Kors Watch Bands center. The city has a memorandum of understanding with veterans centers in Tacoma and Federal Way to provide services in Lacey, with an emphasis on behavioral health. The center is expected to open in October.Meanwhile, SPSCC s existing Lacey campus is on Hawks Prairie between Marvin Road and Galaxy Drive. The college has leased the space since 1995, but in 2005 it purchased property off Marvin Road and set out to build a new campus. Since then, economic changes have taken the college in a new direction. The Marvin Road property, for which the college paid $6.2 million, is for sale, Purce Braseth said.
MOAPA, Nev. The Southwest was mopping up Tuesday after pouring rains and flash flooding washed out part of a major rail line between Las Vegas and Salt Lake City; swelled a river so high that a Utah national park downstream was briefly shuttered; and closed a 50-mile stretch of heavily traveled Interstate 15 when soggy pavement crumbled. The cleanup began after seasonal monsoon moisture combined with the remnants of Tropical Storm Norbert to dump heavy rain throughout the Southwest and set a single-day rainfall record in Phoenix. The sun was out Tuesday in the small, southern Nevada town of Moapa In Nevada, where officials had feared that rushing water would overwhelm the banks of the swollen Muddy and Virgin rivers."We saw it right at the cusp and it didn't go over," said Erin Neff, spokeswoman for the Clark County Regional Flood Control District. "It's a near-miss."At least 30 homes in nearby Overton were flooded, and Clark County firefighters counted 18 rescues in the area, many involving submerged cars."I've been in this area since 1978.

@@@
STATS RECAPS

TOP SPOTS
NEW YORK (AP) - Curtis Granderson had a lot to live up to when he signed a $60 million, four-year contract with the Mets in the offseason.
For much of this year, though, it s been a struggle for the three-time All-Star after moving across town.
He came through on Monday night, hitting a tying triple off former-Met LaTroy Hawkins and scored two pitches later on Wilmer Flores sacrifice fly to give New York a 3-2 win that stopped the Colorado Rockies four-game winning streak.
Things may be looking up for Granderson, who has seven RBIs over his last four games hitting .400 during that stretch. Manager Terry Collins believes that the pressure of changing leagues and trying to fulfill a big contract may have gotten to him for a good portion of the season.
It is a little different game, different pitchers and a lot of Gucci Products other things he is not used to, Collins said. He is swinging the bat good right now and that is good for us.
After Lucas Duda s RBI double in the first, Jordan Lyles, Tommy Kahnle, Brooks Brown and Christian Friedrich pitched shutout ball through the eighth.
Travis d Arnaud doubled leading off the ninth against Hawkins (3-3), who blew a save for the third time in 25 chances.
Granderson s triple past right fielder Charlie Blackmon scored pinch-runner Eric Young Jr. Granderson then scored easily ahead of Drew Stubbs off-line throw on Flores fly to center.
Carlos Torres (7-5) pitched a perfect ninth for the Mets, who wore camouflage jerseys as they started a 10-game homestand.
Michael Cuddyer tied the score in the second with his seventh home run. Activated before the game, Cuddyer had been on the disabled list since Aug. 24 because of a strained left hamstring, his third DL stint this season.
I was able to get a good pitch to hit and fortunately I didn t miss it, said Cuddyer.
Nolan Arenado homered off Vic Black s changeup on an 0-2 pitch leading off the eighth for a 2-1 lead.
I just threw a bad breaking ball to a guy that is a good hitter, said Black.
Mets starter Jonathon Niese allowed one run and eight hits in 6 2-3 innings, struck out seven and walked one. His curveball was hit or miss at times, but the 6-foot-3 left-hander made pitches when he needed to.
There was some that were good and some that were not so good, said Niese. Fortunately the good ones I was able to get outs on, and the bad ones they did Buy Gucci Online not crush like they probably should have.
Lyles gave up one run and three hits in six innings.
Mets center fielder Juan Lagares ran into left-center and extended to make an outstanding backhand catch to rob Arenado of an extra-base hit with a runner on in the first.
Kahnle, a 25-year-old rookie from Latham, New York, pitched a perfect seventh for Colorado.
TRAINER S ROOM
Rockies: C Wilin Rosario, activated Sunday after a stint on the DL caused by left wrist inflammation, pinch hit in the seventh and remained in the game at catcher. He was 0 for 2. I m going to ease him in this series, Rockies manager Walt Weiss said before the game. I look at his situation a little bit different as a catcher. Blackmon and 1B Justin Morneau, who leads the NL with a .316 batting average, were not in the starting lineup. They ve been going at it pretty good, Weiss said. It seemed like a good time to give them a day.
Mets: 2B Daniel Murphy (strained right calf) is expected to be activated from the 15-day DL on Tuesday, according to Mets general manager Sandy Alderson.
UP NEXT
Rockies: Rookie RHP Christian Bergman (2-2) starts Tuesday and will be looking to win for the third time in four outings Cheap Gucci Sale since returning from a broken left hand on Aug. 24.
Mets: RHP Jacob deGrom (7-6) faces Colorado for the first time. He has not allowed an earned run in 14 innings.
EXTRA, EXTRA
The Mets had six hits in the game, all for extra bases, marking the first time in franchise history that they had five or more hits and no singles.
KEEPING SCORE
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, tonight s matchup was Howie Karpin s 900th regular season game as official scorer dating back to September 13, 1998, at Yankee Stadium. A long-time fixture in New York-area press boxes, Karpin has also been the official scorer for three World Series games as well as the 2013 All-Star Game held at Citi Field.

27.153.160.112: Washington's indoor pot grows could be big power suck

@@@
A says all the indoor marijuana growing operations springing up in Washington state could put a significant demand on the region's power supplies. And planners are keeping a close eye on the situation.
The Northwest Power and Conservation Council is currently updating its 20-year forecast of regional electricity demand as part of the Northwest Power Plan - which it issues every five years.
Pot growing caught the attention of planners after seeing what happened in Colorado, where the explosion of growers and large scale industrial operations fueled massive energy consumption, says Tom Eckman, director of the michael kors sale council's Power Planning Division.
Eckman says it takes the same amount of electricity to grow just four pot plants indoors as it does to power 29 refrigerators.
"You're installing 1,000 watt lights over about every two plants and running those 16-18 hours a day to grow the product over a 10, 12, 14 week cycle. It's a pretty significant consumption of electricity."
The council studied a number of growers across the state earlier this summer after they were granted licenses by the Washington State Louboutin Shoes Outilet Liquor Control Board. It determined demand for electricity could grow between 60 and 160 average megawatts over the next few years.
"That's significant," Eckman says. "That's about half of the size of a new combustion turbine gas generating plant."
To put it in perspective, the council compared marijuana production to aluminum. And Eckman says the findings were surprising.
"It takes about 5,000 kilowatt hours to produce a kilogram of cannabis. When we were looking in history it took about 15-20 kilowatt hours to produce a kilogram of aluminum in this region."
The demand could be far greater if other states in the region legalize marijuana as well.
While the planning process is used to determine demand and the best way to deliver more power, the council also studied ways the industry can reduce energy use by improving efficiencies.
Growers could lower electricity used by about 30 percent by increasing their use of LED lighting and high efficiency heating and ventilation systems, Eckman says.
He also says the council found energy-efficient LED systems increased the yield of two strains of pot by 6 percent, which could be a big incentive for growers.
It's all just part of what will become an increasing focus true religion outlet for the council in coming years as more growers go into business. But in the end, he says while it brings some societal issues with it, the council isn't treating marijuana any differently than a data center or other industry.
"It's different than a lot of the other things we look at that increase electrical consumption. The Facebook data center is pretty visible in the neighborhood. And this particular agricultural growth product tends to be a little more invisible in the neighborhoods," he says. "But still, it's just another use."

30. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars looked like a playoff team for the first two quarters of Week 1, but after halftime, the Philadelphia Eagles scored 34 unanswered points to walk away with the win. There were many players who stepped up in the game (e.g., wide receiver Allen Hurns), true religion jeans but Jacksonville still has weaknesses throughout the lineup.

29. Buffalo Bills
After a stunning win over the Chicago Bears, the Buffalo Bills will go head-to-head with the division-rival Miami Dolphins in Week 2. Miami looked susceptible against the run, and that should be good news for Fred Jackson and . This is another upset Buffalo could conceivably pull off.

28. Cleveland Browns
For all of the talk about Johnny Manziel, the Cleveland Browns didn t utilize the rookie and focused the offense around starter Brian Hoyer. With the support of his teammates and the coaching staff, Hoyer almost led Cleveland to a win Christian Louboutin Outlet over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Let s see how the team handles New Orleans in Week 2, though.

27. Houston Texans
New head coach Bill O Brien should be thanking whoever made the schedule for the Houston Texans. The team needed time to gel as a unit and learn the nuances of O Brien s schemes, and a Week 1 matchup against the Washington Redskins and a Week 2 game against the Oakland Raiders is the extended preseason the Texans needed. Houston could easily go 2-0 to start the year.

26. Dallas Cowboys
After yet another 8-8 finish last season, owner Jerry Jones has grown tired of the mediocrity. Instead of starting Christian Louboutin Outlet Online the year with a win in Week 1, the Dallas Cowboys were destroyed by the San Francisco 49ers. In an interview with for , the Empress of Soul opened up about having new album jitters and also discussed the current state of the industry.
Knight, who rose to prominence in the early 1970 s as the front-woman for the Motown sensation Gladys Knight and the Pips, opened up about some of the young artists that are attempting to break into the music business today.
I don t envy them, coming through the industry at this time because it s a totally different industry. It is money-driven. It is power-driven. They would do anything to get famous, Knight said. We came through with a moral value, an integrity value, and a great love for what we were doing. So it helped us to do the things that we needed to do to be better. We didn t have to be on the cover of every magazine, we didn t have to be doing something dramatic just to get some attention. We let our talents speak for that.
The 70-year-old songstress undoubtedly opened doors for some of the current reigning divas, including聽, Jennifer Hudson, and Alicia Keys. They re doing the best that they can you have to look at the fame and fortune that they have as long as they mix in the great talent portion of it, then that s the road they they have to take in the industry these days, Knight said.
But how far will you go with that? That s what saddens my heart. We were taught to dress respectfully for our audiences did you hear me say dress? Not take it off, put it on.

@@@
The No. 8 Bears travel to Buffalo for Friday鈥檚 nationally televised game at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
Petty didn鈥檛 suit up against Northwestern State after suffering two cracked vertebrae in his lower back in Baylor鈥檚 season-opening 45-0 win over SMU on Aug. 31.
鈥淲e鈥檒l know more in two days, but I think he鈥檒l be back,鈥?said Briles in his Monday press conference. 鈥淏ryce is doing really good. He said it was sore, but not painful, and that鈥檚 a big difference. If he鈥檚 able to go, he鈥檒l go.鈥?
With Petty on the sidelines, sophomore quarterback Seth Russell earned Big 12 co-offensive player of the week in the first start of his college career. Russell shared the award with Kansas State quarterback Jake Waters.
Russell hit 16 of 25 passes for 438 yards and five touchdowns in the first half as the Bears roared to a 49-3 halftime lead. Though redshirt freshman Chris Johnson took over at quarterback in the second half in the lopsided win, Russell鈥檚 passing yards were the third most in school history.
鈥淗e was exceptional in the way he handled himself and the decisions he made,鈥?Briles said. 鈥淚 told him I was proud of him. He鈥檚 been around here three years and I know he can throw, I know he can run, and he鈥檚 exceptionally athletically gifted.鈥?
Russell鈥檚 main target was freshman KD Cannon who made six catches for 223 yards and three touchdowns in the first half. Jay Cheap Gucci Sale Lee and Davion Hall also caught long touchdown passes from Russell against the Demons.
Briles expects receiver Corey Coleman to play for the first time this season against Buffalo after dealing with hamstring issues. Tight end Tre鈥橵on Armstead should also be ready after suffering a sprained medial collateral ligament against SMU. Freshman tight end Jordan Feuerbacher stepped in and made two catches for 15 yards against Northwestern State.
Briles said All-America receiver Antwan Goodley鈥檚 quadricep injury is improving, but is still questionable for the upcoming game. Running back Devin Chafin is expected to miss his second straight game with a high ankle sprain, but should be Gucci 1627 ready for the Sept. 27 Big 12 opener at Iowa State.
After winning their first two games at McLane Stadium by a combined 115-6 score, Briles is anxious to see how the Bears perform on the road for the first time in their final nonconference game.
The Bulls are off to a 1-1 start following a 38-28 home win over Duquesne and .
鈥淵ou鈥檝e got to win on the road and understand that people want to beat us,鈥?Briles said. 鈥淭hey want to get us on their home floor and slap us around. Either you man up and bond together and fight for each other or stay at home and don鈥檛 get on the plane. We鈥檙e going to get challenged a little bit, and to me that鈥檚 exciting and inspiring.鈥?
Baylor鈥檚 defense has been superb as it leads the Big 12 by allowing 134.5 yards and three points per game. The Bears鈥?12 sacks are the most in the league and opponents are averaging 0.8 yards per rush.
But Buffalo should be the biggest challenge for the Bears鈥?defense so far this season. Led by quarterback Joe Licata, the Bulls are averaging 513 yards and 38.5 points per game. Licata has completed 69.8 percent of his passes for 699 yards and eight touchdowns.
In at Floyd Casey Stadium, Licata hit 10 of 16 passes for 214 yards and a touchdown. But he鈥檒l likely see much more pressure from Baylor鈥檚 defensive line than any he鈥檚 faced this season.
鈥淭hey鈥檙e kind of a step up from what we鈥檝e seen the last couple of weeks,鈥?Briles said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a good situation to gauge where we鈥檙e at. We鈥檙e playing at a high intensity level. When you get guys with talent who are big, powerful and strong and with an aggressive nature, you have a chance to be very disruptive from a defensive standpoint. That鈥檚 the way these guys are playing.鈥?
Averaging 647 yards and 57.5 points per game, the Bears lead the Big 12 in major team offensive categories. Though the Bears Gucci Belts Sale are averaging 263 yards rushing per game, Briles would like to see the ground game become more consistent.
Johnny Jefferson and walk-on Silas Nacita came off the bench to rush for more than 100 yards apiece against Northwestern State.
鈥淲e still feel like we鈥檝e got a long way to go,鈥?Briles said. 鈥淲e鈥檙e leading the Big 12 in rushing right now, but we haven鈥檛 run the football to the level where we need to be and we鈥檙e going to be. But the great thing about O-linemen is they love to be challenged.鈥?

27.153.160.112: Portland councilors not ready to recommend new rules for anti

@@@
A Portland City Council committee decided Tuesday to put off making a recommendation to the council on regulating anti-abortion protests outside Planned Parenthood s clinic on Congress Street. The Public Safety, Health and Human Services Committee wants another month to consider the options in the wake of the city s decision in July to repeal its 39-foot buffer zone around the clinic.
Meanwhile, a city attorney recommended Tuesday night that Planned Parenthood seek a court injunction, or that Portland legislators sponsor changes to state law as ways to shield patients from anti-abortion protesters outside the clinic.
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in June that 35-foot buffer zones around clinics in Massachusetts violated the free-speech rights of anti-abortion demonstrators. The councilors voted on July 7 to remove the buffer zone, while vowing to seek alternative ways to keep protesters away from Planned Parenthood patients.
That discussion was taken up at meeting Tuesday, when the committee ultimately decided it needed more time to study laws in other states and consult with the Maine Attorney General s Office before revisiting the issue at its Christian Louboutin Shoes UK meeting in October.
The City Council voted unanimously in November to adopt the buffer zone in response to weekly protests outside the Planned Parenthood clinic, where anywhere from five to 15 anti-abortion activists, including children, hold signs and hand out pamphlets urging women to choose alternatives to abortion.
Trish McAllister, an attorney for the city, said Tuesday she spoke with Planned Parenthood about banning protesters from coming within six to eight feet of the building, essentially pushing them to the street-side of the michael kors sale sidewalk and preventing protesters from forming a tunnel that patients must walk through to get to the entrance.
However, she said that also would constitute a fixed buffer zone, which has been deemed unconstitutional.
In fact, she said, any regulation the city tried to impose probably will affect speech in some respect, and therefore not stand up to a legal challenge.
McAllister said Planned Parenthood would probably have better luck seeking an injunction from the court itself 鈥?something that has held up at clinics elsewhere.
She also said the city s Legislative Committee could seek amendments to state laws, like Massachusetts legislators did after the Supreme Court decision.
A new law in that state enables police officers to order the immediate dispersal of a gathering that substantially impedes access to or departure from an entrance or a driveway to a reproductive health care facility. It also imposes fines on people who intimidate or attempt to intimidate anyone trying to enter or leave a reproductive health care facility.
Councilor Ed Suslovic would like the Legislative Committee, of which he is a member, to discuss additions to state law and wants the city s delegation to sponsor them.
He and Councilor Cheryl Leeman both said they didn t want to waste staff time and taxpayer money on regulations that won t hold up in court.
City attorneys said Tuesday they don t yet know how much the city has spent defending the buffer zone, partially because the lawsuit filed by protesters is ongoing.
Although the city filed a motion to dismiss the suit after the buffer zone was repealed, the attorney for the protesters said they re still seeking a ruling that s specific to Portland s ordinance. McAllister said the protesters also want the city to cover their attorney s fees.
Councilor Jill Duson suggested that the committee take more time to consider its options, rather than accept the city staff s recommendation not to pursue additional regulations.
I am not yet at the point where I m just ready to Christian Louboutin Shoes Sale throw up my hands and say, We can t do anything, she said.

27.153.160.112: Trial date for West explosion lawsuits pushed back

@@@
Judge Jim Meyer of Waco鈥檚 170th State District Court, who is overseeing pretrial scheduling matters, Gucci Factory signed a recent order pushing back his previous case-management orders and moving the first trial from July 2015 to September 2015.
The new order is at least the second time Meyer, who has divided the plaintiffs into three trial groups, has agreed to postpone trial dates.
About 200 plaintiffs, including families of those killed and injured, the city of West, West Rest Haven nursing home and West Terrace Apartments, have filed lawsuits in the wake of the April 17, 2013, West Fertilizer Co. explosion.
In a joint motion filed last week asking the judge to amend his case-management orders, the parties said the extension of deadlines primarily is to provide additional time for the designation of expert witnesses.
The order also pushes back deadlines by 49 days for the parties to continue taking depositions and other trial preparation deadlines.
Besides suing Adair Chemical Co., the local owners of the plant, plaintiffs have named Gucci Handbags Outlet as defendants El Dorado Chemical Co., CF Industries, Thermaclime Inc. and International Chemical Co. The defendants either manufactured or sold fertilizer to West Fertilizer Co.
Adair Grain has filed a counterclaim against the four fertilizer producers and sellers, making Adair Grain both a plaintiff and a defendant.
El Dorado and CF Industries contend the city was negligent because it failed to properly train the first responders and had insufficient protocols in place to battle the blaze at West Fertilizer that triggered the explosion.
A motion from CF Industries also seeks to designate as a responsible party an unknown 鈥淛ohn Doe,鈥?who the motion Gucci Belts Sale said may have started the fire, and the makers of a golf cart, which was inside West Fertilizer and may have caused the fire through a potential electrical short, the State Fire Marshal鈥檚 Office has said.
A motion from El Dorado also alleges that the city should be named as a responsible third party because it failed to protect its citizens by allowing through its zoning authority schools and a nursing home to operate in a close proximity to the plant.

Related PostsLegendary soul singer Gladys Knight is back with her newly release Gospel album, Where My Heart Belongs, Michael Kors Factory Outlet a collection of songs that showcases faith, soul, and unmatched vocal ability.
The seven-time Grammy Award winner has a career spanning several decades, and has no plans of slowing down.
Knight says these ladies are doing the best that they can, but she needs female entertainers as a whole to stand Michael Kors Handbags up and do better.
I m just disappointed with all of that. But there s a way to present your gift if your a singer, make sure you do that.
I want my women to stand up.

@@@
Competitive gaming, or eSports, is bigger than ever. Valve recently partnered with ESPN to air coverage of back in July with $10 million in prizes up for grabs. Even Wallet Gucci still, however, eSports aren t thought of as a real sport according to ESPN president John Skipper.
During a recent , the executive likened eSports to chess and checkers by that, he means it s a competition, not a sport. Skipper followed up by saying he is mostly interested in doing real sports.

To put the comments into context, they came as a result of someone asking him to comment on . One might expect such comments in retaliation from, say, that was also vying for the acquisition. But for ESPN to say that is a Gucci Beanie Hat bit bizarre.
Following the successful broadcast of the Dota 2 tournament in mid-July which surpassed expectations across the board, rumors circulated that ESPN was looking to expand its eSports coverage. The source for said rumor indicated the network was in advanced talks with Major League Gaming to possibly cover MLG s Call of Duty competitions.
Personal opinions aside, there s no doubt a ton of money to be made from eSports. Sure, gaming tournaments likely wouldn t bring in the kind of ratings one would expect from college football, the NFL, the NBA and other major sporting events but given ESPN s vast number Gucci Slides of channels, I m sure they could find a few empty slots to fill out their lineup.

27.153.160.112: Goodell says NFL didn't see video before this week - Sports

@@@
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) 鈥?As questions arose about how the NFL investigated domestic violence allegations against Ray Rice, Commissioner Roger Goodell said Tuesday the league asked for, but was not given, video showing the ex-Ravens running back punching his then-fiancee on an elevator.Goodell told CBS that "no one in the NFL, to my knowledge" had seen a new video of what happened on the elevator until it was posted online."We assumed that there was a video. We asked for video. But we were never granted that opportunity," Goodell said. Two videos, one released by TMZ Sports and another shown later to The Associated Press by a law enforcement official, show Rice punching Janay Palmer 鈥?who true religion uk is now his wife 鈥?at an Atlantic City casino in February. They are graphic, and show more detail than an initial video released by TMZ in July that showed him dragging her from an elevator. After the latest TMZ video made its way around the Internet, the Ravens cut Rice and the league barred him indefinitely. But the video renewed criticism about the NFL's decision to initially suspend Rice for just two games, and raised questions about how strenuously the case was investigated.Goodell has previously said he "didn't get it right" with Rice and the league set up new penalties for domestic violence: a six-game suspension for a first offense, at least a year for a second."I would tell you that what we saw in the first videotape was troubling to us, in and of itself," Goodell said. "But what Christian Louboutin Shoes UK we saw yesterday was extremely clear, is extremely graphic, and it was sickening. And that's why we took the action we took yesterday."In the videos that surfaced Monday, Rice and Palmer are seen hitting each other before he knocks her off her feet and into a railing. The higher-quality video shown to the AP shows Rice made no attempt to cover up what happened. After Palmer collapses, he drags her out of the elevator and is met by some hotel staff. Someone is heard saying, "She's drunk, right?" And then, "No cops." Rice didn't respond. The video was shown to the AP on condition of anonymity because the official wasn't authorized to release it.Palmer defended her husband on her Instagram account Tuesday, saying that barring Rice from playing football is "horrific" and that making the couple "relive a moment in our lives that we regret every day is a horrible thing."Ravens coach John Harbaugh said he met with owner Steve Bisciotti, team president Dick Cass and general manager Ozzie Newsome after they saw the TMZ video, and they made the decision to let Rice go.The action represented a complete reversal for the team, which had initially supported Rice. Rice had been charged with felony aggravated assault in the case, but in May he was accepted into a pretrial intervention program that allowed him to avoid jail time and could lead to the charge being purged from his record. A prominent New Jersey lawmaker called Tuesday for that decision to be reviewed. In a letter to fans, Bisciotti said the team should have done more to get the video as the investigation continued, and it was a "mistake" not to. He said the team tried to get the video from both the casino and law enforcement, but the casino wouldn't share it and that authorities refused. It is common for law enforcement to decline to release evidence when an investigation is ongoing."We should have seen it earlier. We should have pursued our own investigation more vigorously," the letter said. "We didn't and we were wrong."Rice, 27, has not spoken publicly since the team cut him, and Louboutin Shoes Outilet his lawyer, Michael Diamondstein, declined to comment when contacted by the AP.Rice stood to make $4 million this year. In addition to his salary, he'll also lose income from canceled endorsement deals. Nike announced it has severed its business ties with him, and video game publisher Electronic Arts said it would scrub Rice's image from their latest Madden '15 release. In his last public statement this summer, he expressed regret: "I let so many people down because of 30 seconds of my life that I know I can't take back."___AP Sports Writer David Ginsburg in Baltimore contributed to this report.___Online:AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL
