Baylor issued the 90-day deadline over the use of its name and licensing marks following a Sept. 7 vote over a proposed transition agreement that would have transferred BAA鈥檚 alumni outreach services to Baylor but allowed the organization to continue publishing The Baylor Line.
Though the majority of the 1,500 members present for the vote at Waco Hall were in favor of the agreement, it did not meet the two-thirds threshold needed for the measure to pass.
Cowden said Saturday that BAA鈥檚 attorney sent the university鈥檚 legal counsel a notice that the organization would not meet the deadline. An extension was not sought, he said.
The next step will be for BAA鈥檚 board of directors to hammer out options for future operations, Cowden said.
Some ideas being discussed include continuing to operate as it has historically, changing its name but still being an alumni group, or changing its mission altogether to become a foundation that could possibly raise money for scholarships.
鈥淚 think we would like to do outreach if we were allowed to do it, but as a practical matter, that鈥檚 no longer our function,鈥?Cowden said. 鈥淭he university and (its Baylor Alumni Network) have taken that over, and have made it very clear that they鈥檙e performing <a href=http://www.aec-ist.com/css/Gucci-Outlet-Online-Sunglasses-Fragrance-Python-Bag.html>Gucci Python Bag</a> that service.鈥?

Olson said Baylor鈥檚 Board of Regents has made it clear that they want to get rid of the alumni association, its magazine, and to be completely in control of the information distributed to alumni and supporters.

The university created the Baylor Alumni Network and the free Baylor Magazine in 2002 as an alternative to BAA and The Baylor Line, and later ended funding support to BAA and banned the organization from accessing databases of new graduates鈥?contact information.
鈥淚 think this has all been one-sided from the university, showing how powerful they are and that the alumni don鈥檛 make any difference,鈥?member Jim Hardwick said. 鈥淭hey don鈥檛 care what the alumni do, just send money, send money.鈥?
Raymond Hughes-Dillard, grandson of the two families who provided the lead donations to build the alumni center, said he is hopeful that BAA can continue to forge a new path ahead, though he fears it will have to be resolved in a courtroom.
鈥淚 think litigation is probably in the future,鈥?Hughes-Dillard said. 鈥淚 think the way things have gone between the two entities, nobody is going to give in without the courts ordering them to resolve it.鈥?
Cowden said no lawsuits are pending or have been filed by either BAA or Baylor.

It's the Parkland of the poor.Over the past five years, the district has seen a dramatic rise in the number of students living in poverty. A total of 1,605 students about one in five qualified this school year for free or reduced-price lunches, the benchmark for <a href=http://www.avanttravel.com/page.php?sale=Louboutin-Shop-London>Louboutin Shop London</a> determining the level of low-income students in schools. That number could fill more than half the district's eight elementary schools.Parkland, now home to three church-run food banks, isn't alone. The Cardinals are coming off a 10-6 2013 season, but failed to reach the NFC Playoffs. In many ways, though, these two teams share a great number of similarities.

While it s not a secret that the Cardinals had the number one rush defense last season, only conceding 84.4 yards per game, the loss of will prove costly. Especially against the dynamic rushing attack San Diego possesses.

Despite what believers of Todd Akin鈥檚 brand of science may think, rape can and does lead to pregnancy. The numbers differ but the data suggests that between 3,200 and 50,000 pregnancies result from rape each year.Abortion, while never an easy choice, sometimes may be the only answer for a traumatized, fearful victim. INDIANA (WITI/CNN) She was missing for two months聽聽held captive, living in a cage in a mobile home in Indiana. An unlikely hero is speaking out, after his brave actions helped to lead the woman to freedom.

Joelle Lockwood was reported missing on July 9th.
FOX6 s sister station, FOX59 in Indianapolis reports Lockwood left a friend s apartment that night. She had reportedly been drinking, and was described as heavily intoxicated.
FOX59 reports while walking on the street, a friend saw Lockwood and offered her a ride. They apparently used narcotics at a residence, and then Lockwood s friend dropped her off at another location to see some other friends.
She left that house, and wasn t heard from again until Saturday, September 6th when police received a call from her parents, saying she was alive.
FOX59 reports two people have been arrested in the case. They face preliminary charges of rape, kidnapping, criminal confinement and conspiracy to commit rape. They are 37-year-old Ricky Roy House Jr. and 44-year-old Kendra Tooley.

Lockwood says House and Tooley offered her a ride on July 9th. She went with them to their mobile home, spending some time there before deciding to leave.

Over the course of the next 59 days, FOX59 reports she was bound to a bed and only allowed to go out on three occasions. She was forced to wear a red dog collar with a rope or leash attached <a href=http://www.aec-ist.com/css/Cheap-Gucci-Outlet-Authentic-Sneakers-Bags-Discount-Shop.html>Shop Gucci</a> to it. She was repeatedly sexually abused, court documents revealed. She was beaten on multiple occasions and wasn鈥檛 allowed to contact anyone. The girl in the cage was Joelle Lockwood.
Higgs says the cage was about two-and-a-half feet tall, stuffed in a room, hidden from plain view.
No food, no water, nowhere to use the bathroom, Higgs said.
Higgs says when he first saw Lockwood, she was only wearing a T-shirt and a dog collar with a rope tied to it apparently being treated as a slave.
This just isn t adding up. When she cooked all of our meals she said can I have something to eat? They said if there s something left, you can have something to eat,' Higgs said.
Higgs returned to the trailer the following night September 5th. That s when he says Lockwood made her plea for freedom.
She says please don t leave here without me. I said what s the matter? She says I ve been here for over 60 days and they put me in that cage,' Higgs said.
It was then that Higgs says he realized Lockwood s fate was in his hands.
I didn t really know what I could do because I m nowhere near the man I used to be, but I m not leaving this house without her. I don t care what I have to do. She s coming home, Higgs said.
Higgs says he initially tried to buy Lockwood s freedom, but he couldn t make a deal. He realized force was the only way <a href=http://www.aec-ist.com/css/Gucci-Sale-Online-Ladies-Watch-Discounted-Handbags-Wallets.html>Discounted Gucci Handbags</a> and it was at that point that he found out the allegedly sinister reason for Lockwood s capture.

I hate to say this to the public or even her even hearing it, but I think they were just going to have a baby and we would never see her again, Higgs said.

Higgs says House lowered his gun and a fight ensued. Higgs says he was able to head-butt House, and fend him off. But Lockwood wasn t faring as well.
Joelle was sitting in the floor crying, naked, with Kendra beating on her. Just beat her down to the ground, took her clothes off of her, Higgs said.
Higgs says while House retreated to another room in the trailer, he saw his opportunity to escape with Lockwood. Higgs says he convinced Tooley that if she let Lockwood leave, he wouldn t go to the police.
I actually think they believed I wasn t going to do anything about it, Higgs said.
Higgs says he left with Lockwood taking her to his house. The first thing Lockwood asked for was a shower. After she was cleaned up, she was reunited with her family outside Higgs home.
I m 61 years old and I don t even cry at funerals, but I busted out crying like a baby, Higgs said.

Baylor is seeking a judgment barring the group from continuing to hold itself out as the university鈥檚 official alumni association and injunctive relief 鈥渢o limit BAA鈥檚 purposes by reformation to provide only financial aid to Baylor students.鈥?
The lawsuit comes less than three weeks after a letter Baylor President Ken Starr sent to the BAA鈥檚 board of directors advising the alumni association of impending legal action.
It is the latest wrangling in the contentious relationship between the two entities, which reached a head in September after the BAA did not approve a transition agreement that would have dissolved its independent charter and turned all of its alumni outreach activities over to Baylor.
Baylor previously gave the alumni association until Dec. 8 to cease using the trademarks after the failure of the agreement, following through on its original May 31, 2013, notice of intent to terminate the licensing agreements.
鈥淭hey鈥檝e failed to act in response to the university鈥檚 continued request to provide any real or concrete plan of action to Baylor,鈥?Baylor spokeswoman Lori Fogleman said. 鈥淭he university is moving to protect the interest of Baylor, its students and alumni by seeking appropriate legal relief rather than simply waiting further for some indication of actual progress from the association.鈥?
BAA President Keith Starr said he learned of the lawsuit through a phone message from the Tribune-Herald.
He declined to comment on the specifics of the suit until he had a chance to read the full document and consult with the BAA鈥檚 executive committee.
鈥淥bviously, we are very, very disappointed,鈥?said Starr, who is not related to the Baylor president. The BAA has previously argued that the licensing agreements are in effect 鈥渋n perpetuity鈥?and that Baylor does not have the right to sever them. But Baylor is seeking a judgment stating that the agreements were properly terminated because they are 鈥?1) indefinite in duration and (2) terminable at will by BAA . . . and therefore terminable at will by either party.鈥?
Baylor argues in the lawsuit that the BAA has abandoned the charitable purposes outlined in its bylaws, including providing scholarships for students and coordinating alumni activities.
The suit notes that all but one of the BAA鈥檚 staff resigned after the failure of the transition agreement, 10 of whom have taken jobs with the university.
鈥淏AA has no capacity to 鈥榗oordinate all alumni activity (of Baylor)鈥?nor to 鈥榮erve as the general alumni organization of Baylor University,鈥?nor is it likely to acquire such capacity,鈥?the lawsuit <a href=http://www.aec-ist.com/css/Gucci-Handbags-Outlet-Com-Sale-Backpack-Men-C.html>Gucci Handbags Outlet</a> states.

A team of representatives from the BAA and members of Baylor鈥檚 board of regents hashed out the transition agreement over 10 months, but the final details were only revealed to the BAA鈥檚 full membership when the document was unveiled publicly in May 2013.
鈥淒iscussions over this potential donation then became subsumed in the negotiations over the proposed transition agreement, which would have required much of the BAA鈥檚 funds to be transferred to Baylor,鈥?Cowden wrote. 鈥淪ince the transition agreement was not approved by the BAA鈥檚 membership, the terms of the BAA鈥檚 potential donation were never finalized.鈥?

When Manager Billy McMillon finished his end-of-the-season address to his Portland Sea Dogs, the hugs began. McMillon, pitching coach Bob Kipper and hitting coach Rich Gedman made their rounds, congratulating players and saying farewells.
Then the players approached each other. More hugs.
Catcher Michael Brenly, always one to lighten the mood, joked that the sentimentality was getting out of hand.
What started almost seven months ago in the heat of Florida spring training, ended on a comfortable September afternoon in Portland, with an 8-5 loss in the Eastern League playoffs.

LePage s campaign frequently highlights Maine s declining unemployment rate, which has dropped more than 25 percent since he took over in January 2011. At 5.5 percent, it s at its lowest point in nearly six years and below the national average.
LePage contends that his efforts to cut taxes and red tape have helped Maine s economy make great strides and that his administration s welfare-to-work programs are <a href=http://www.museosangennaro.com/Public/anel.php> Christian Louboutin Shoes Sale</a> helping people find jobs.
Maine is better off today than it was four years ago and our actions can back it up, he said in his weekly radio address.

When Manager Billy McMillon finished his end-of-the-season address to his Portland Sea Dogs, the hugs began. McMillon, pitching coach Bob Kipper and hitting coach Rich Gedman made their rounds, congratulating players and saying farewells.
Then the players approached each other. More hugs.
Catcher Michael Brenly, always one to lighten the mood, joked that the sentimentality was getting out of hand.
What started almost seven months ago in the heat of Florida spring training, ended on a comfortable September afternoon in Portland, with an 8-5 loss in the Eastern League playoffs.

The two new iPhones, likely to be dubbed iPhone 6 are rumored to have screens that measure 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches, up from just four inches on the iPhone 5S. The larger iPhones could have scratch-resistant sapphire crystal screens along with bigger batteries to power the larger displays.
The iPhones are expected to feature Apple s new iOS 8 software, a relatively minor update from iOS 7. Among the bigger iOS 8 additions is new HealthKit application that monitors users heart rates, sleep, weight and blood pressure among other health-related information. IOS 8 will also feature HomeKit, a new platform for people to control all the items in their homes with the iPad or iPhone.
The company may also unveil an iWatch smartwatch, its first wearable device. Allentown faces tight deadline to sync stoplights with arena trafficSignals are being installed near new arena that can adjust to vehicle flow.July 30, 2014|By Emily Opilo, Of The Morning CallIt's a 12-month job that traffic engineers said would be done in four.That's what they told the authority overseeing the construction of Allentown's new arena as they discussed plans for a massive upgrade of 35 traffic lights on the way to, around and from the 8,500-seat venue.The upgrades are critical to prevent snarled traffic for the 2,600 additional vehicles expected to descend on Allentown's urban core for events at the PPL Center and other downtown attractions.But in the last two weeks, a month and a half before the arena is set to open, work on those traffic lights has just gotten underway, and permit applications for the project still remain in the hands of the state Department of Transportation, the agency that must authorize upgrades to traffic lights.Despite the delay, Allentown officials say they still expect to have the new lights running in time for the first big events scheduled for the arena."We can start the work," said Craig Messinger, acting director of public works. Those cameras will allow signal timing to change during busy nights at the arena or revert to programmed timings for more typical traffic, he said.The new signals also will provide feedback to Allentown's Public Works Department so that workers in a traffic management center can make manual changes to signal timing based on conditions."Certainly the biggest concern or the biggest effort is for the 20-30 minute crunch of vehicles leaving after hockey games or concerts," Wichner said. "But now we can control morning peak, lunch rush, afternoon peak and weekends. It's a more sustainable effort."A permit is required for each intersection where lights will be replaced. The Cowboys dominated the the time of possession in the first quarter. Like everyone else in Cowboys Universe I am saddened by what we saw on Sunday. Unlike many I am also taking away some positives. The team is a work in progress but I saw enough to believe that they can be more successful than many expect. Seven Philadelphia parents and the Parents United for Public Education group are suing over the conditions of Philadelphia s public schools. The petitioners are represented by the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia.
In the suit, to be filed against acting Pennsylvania education secretary Carolyn Dumaresq, the parents say the state has failed in its constitutional mandate to receive and investigate allegations of curriculum deficiencies. Parents United says it delivered 825 complaints about school conditions to Dumaresq that were not followed up on.

Per the lawsuit, the allegations included 鈥渙vercrowded classrooms, <a href=http://www.avanttravel.com/page.php?sale=Michael-Kors-Mens-Watches>Michael Kors Mens Watches</a> the lack of classes such as art, music, foreign language and physical education, cancelled programs for the mentally gifted, the absence of facilities such as libraries or school materials such as textbooks that resulted in loss of instruction for students, shortages of staff 鈥β燼nd unsafe or unsanitary conditions that interfered with students鈥?ability to respond to the curriculum.鈥?

The purpose of the preliminary report is not to apportion blame; that is left to prosecutors and courts who deal with those who caused this atrocity. This investigation is all about finding out what happened and making sure it never happens again.
Once you understand that, reading the report makes sense. There is a great deal about how the plane got to be flying where it was, how engine oil was added in Amsterdam airport before MH17 flew into Ukraine and some thundershowers. The report details how the plane was flying legally, over eastern Ukraine and in unrestricted air space. That point is made again and again, lest anyone wants to suggest otherwise.
The reports goes into the routine progression of the flight. How the pilots asked for a slight change of course to the left to avoid bad weather, then air traffic control re-directed them to avoid <a href=http://www.aec-ist.com/css/Gucci-Sale-Online-Baseball-Cap-Men-Wallet-Factory.html>Gucci Factory</a> other planes in the area. Indeed, the report makes clear that there were three other large commercial planes in the area, two 777s and an A330. I have read many air traffic accident reports.
