Outgoing Ekiti State governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, on Sunday, said the in-coming government of Mr Ayo Fayose needed prayers.

The authorities of the University of Ilorin ,have said that 48 graduates of the institution will bag First Class during this year鈥檚 30th convocation ceremonies taking place between Monday, October 20, and Thursday, October 23.
  
Fayemi, who spoke at St. Patrick鈥檚 Catholic Cathedral, Ado-Ekit, on Sunday, at a Mass to mark the end of his tenure, said such prayers were needed for the new government to be able to achieve lasting peace for the state.

A statement signed by the institution鈥檚 Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, and made available to journalists in Ilorin, on Sunday ,indicated that the 48 First Class graduates of the institution are among the 5,421 graduates, who will be receiving their first degrees in various disciplines at this year鈥檚 convocation.
  
This is coming just as eminent Nigerians, including Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, Oyo State governor, Aboila Ajimobi, Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, national chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, as well as former Ekiti State governor, Chief Segun Oni among several others, stormed Ado-Ekiti in his honour.

Akogun explained that a total of 1,190 are graduating with the Second Class Upper degree; 2,814 graduates will be awarded the Second Class Lower degree, while a total of 1,068 will bag the Third Class degree and 84 will get the Pass grade.
  
He told the congregation that his government had been able to create culture of peace in the mind of the people of Ekiti, in its four years tenure and that the new government would require prayers to be able to sustain the current peace.

The Faculty of Management Sciences produced two First Class graduates this year, while the Faculties of Arts, Basic Medical Sciences and Education ,produced one First Class graduate each.
  
According to him, only God could compensate such appointees better than they ever can imagine since not many people appreciate their sacrifice and contributions to the growth of the state in last four years.

Emmanuel Dada Obafemi, said that a Special Church Service to commemorate the commencement of the 2013/2014 convocation ceremonies, would also hold on Sunday, October 19, at the Catholic Chaplaincy, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, University of Ilorin at 9.30a.m.

The Convocation Lecture, entitled 鈥淚nnovation: A Trans-disciplinary Approach鈥? will be delivered on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 by Prof. Dzulkifli Abdul Rasak, the President, International Association of Universities. The lecture takes place at the University Main Auditorium at 10.00a.m.

On Wednesday, October 22, 2014, the main convocation for the award of prizes, first degrees and diplomas for graduands from the Faculties of Arts, Education, Law, Management Science and Social Science will take place at the University Main Auditorium at 10.00a.m. This will be followed, at 5.00p.m, by commissioning of projects by the Visitor to the University, President Goodluck Jonathan.

On Thursday, October 23, 2014, it will be the turn of graduands from the Faculties of Agriculture, Engineering and Technology, Basic Medical Science, Clinical Science, Communication and Information Science, Life Science, Physical Science as well as Postgraduate School to receive their prizes, degrees and diplomas. This will be followed by the convocation luncheon and merit awards at the Multi-purpose Hall, University of Ilorin by 2.00p.m.
