San Francisco is getting serious about the 2024 Olympics bid.

That was the message I got the other day at a sit-down in the mayor鈥檚 office, where all the city department heads who would be involved with bringing the big Games here were in attendance.

No sooner did I arrive than Mayor Ed Lee leaned over and said, 鈥淚 have to be out of here in 10 minutes, which means you are the mayor emeritus.鈥?

鈥淲hat does that mean?鈥?I asked.

鈥淚t means you can鈥檛 do your normal thing and leave after 10 minutes,鈥?he said.

So I stayed, and it became apparent over the next hour and 45 minutes that Giants President Larry Baer, who was pretty much leading the meeting, is the driving force behind

What I learned is that the U.S. Olympic Committee wants the competition to be held near the city. In other words, no equestrian events in Davis.

The committee also wants the Central Subway, the Transbay Terminal and BART to San Jose to be done sooner rather than later.

As for where the Olympic Stadium would be? The idea is for Brisbane to make land across from Candlestick Park available for a 鈥減op-up鈥?stadium, built at minimal expense, that can go away the day after the Games are over.

There were a lot of empty seats at last Sunday鈥檚 49ers game. And don鈥檛 you believe the story that everyone fled to the shade 鈥?I鈥檝e never seen anyone leave their seat at a pro game in the first quarter.

I know the 49ers say the stadium is selling out, but I also know that tickets are readily available on the Internet at below cost. And I鈥檓 getting way more invites to games than I did when the team was at Candlestick.

Legacy Manufacturing is very proud to be one of the first companies to expand in the Marion Enterprise Center, said Mark Weems, president of Legacy, in a news release. Our new 133,000-square-foot facility will more than double our capacity and allow us to continue our growth.
It鈥檚 Fleet Week, a time when upward of a million people come on foot, by bike, by car, train or boat to enjoy the city and the most spectacular air show there is: the Blue Angels.

The company said it has purchased enough land to allow for future expansion of up to a 320,000-square-foot facility.
It just wasn鈥檛 the same last year without them.

Our long-term objective is to re-shore as many of our products as possible, which will bring good manufacturing jobs back to the area, Weems said.
I have a confession to make: I have a Walter Mitty fantasy about flying with the Angels.

The following day, Oct. 22, ElPlast America Inc. will break ground on the construction of its new North American headquarters. The $6 million, 30,000-square-foot facility will bring 30 jobs to Marion.
But like everything except the value of motherhood and apple pie, the Angels come with their share of controversy.

But there鈥檚 a problem 鈥?the film runs out of steam over its nearly two hours and 30 minutes. For the life of me, I cannot understand Hollywood鈥檚 obsession with movies that go on for two hours.
