PASCAGOULA -- A warrant for failure to appear in court has been issued for a Gautier woman set to go to trial Monday on a murder charge. Circuit Judge Dale Harkey issued the warrant after Krystal Dawn Kersey failed to appear in court the same day jury selection was slated to begin in her case. Kersey, 25, is accused in the June 8, 2013, killing of her then husband of two months, Justin Gary Stork, 24, of Pascagoula. Kersey, who is free on a $100,000 bond, is accused of running down Stark with her car between two buildings near River Bend Apartments in Gautier. Stork's body was found in a grassy area near the apartment complex. On Friday, Kersey was arrested in South Texas near the Texas-Mexico border. She currently is being held in Rio Grande City in Starr County awaiting extradition back to Mississippi. She was arrested in South Texas following a traffic stop Friday. She had her 3-year-old and 18-month-old children with her. The children now are in the temporary custody of Texas officials. Kersey's mother has custody of the children. Harkey on Monday set an Oct. 30 status conference on the case.

Kersey's attorney, Calvin Taylor, said Kersey's new husband indicated she was on her way back to Mississippi at the time of her arrest, though she was picked up heading toward the Texas-Mexico border. Taylor called it a "misunderstanding," saying that she had been on vacation in Mexico.
