MILWAUKEE (WITI) Marquette University s Department of Public Safety is warning students to be alert after two robberies in downtown Milwaukee near campus.

The Ravens had an impressive opening drive against the San Francisco 49ers in the first preseason game, but the starters played only one series and the 49ers were without six starters.The Ravens piled up a lot of yards last week against the Dallas Cowboys, but most came against the second team.And then came Saturday night.The Ravens had 179 yards of total offense in the first half, but 74 came on one drive at the end of the half. Twice the Ravens were stopped on fourth-and-short situations.The first, which occurred on the team's first possession, came when running back Bernard Pierce was stopped on fourth-and-1 at the Washington 49. At least on that play the Ravens were simply outnumbered. Those things happen.The second failure came at the Washington 11 on fourth-and-1. Rookie running back Lorenzo Taliaferro ran off right guard but was stopped for no gain by defensive end Jarvis Jenkins.The Ravens got movement at the point of attack by right guard Marshal Yanda and right tackle Rick Wagner, but left guard Kelechi Osemele got beat by Jenkins. It would be easy to single out Osemele because he had a tough night, but tackles Wagner and Eugene Monroe struggled as well.The Ravens run a West Coast offense predicated on short passes, but the Redskins were still constantly hitting or harassing Flacco. But we saw the beating he took last year.Two weeks ago, the Ravens seemed to have made progress on the offensive line. On Saturday, August 23rd, there was a robbery near 14th and Kilbourn. In this incident,聽officials say聽a black male in his late teens or early 20s approached a Marquette student with a weapon and demanded property. The victim suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital.

The most recent robbery took place just before 11:30 p.m. near 21st and Wisconsin Ave. on Sunday, August 24th. Officials say a suspect approached the student, displayed a weapon and demanded property. The victim gave up property and the suspect fled the scene in an <a href=http://architectscanterbury.co.uk/page.php?sale=Kate-Spade-Diaper-Bags-On-Sale>Kate Spade Diaper Bags On Sale</a> unknown direction. The victim was not hurt. The suspect in this second incident was described as a male, white, 25 to 30 years old, about 5 10 tall, 160 pounds with a short haircut and beard. He was wearing a black shirt and red athletic shorts.

Marquette officials are making sure that students and staff are aware of the incidents by sending out alerts via email or text shortly after the incidents. Students say it s helping them stay alert and aware as classes begin.

Walk in pairs or groups, being aware of your surroundings at all times.

Use the LIMO and safety patrol services provided by DPS. Call 414-288-6363 for SSP escorts.

During evening hours watch for the new LIMO with strobe lights patrolling the perimeters of campus; the driver may ask if you want a ride or want to request a walking escort.
+
Make sure someone knows when you leave and when to expect you back.
+
Do not become distracted by talking on your cell phone or listening to music through headphones at a high volume.
+
Travel on well-lit, busy streets and avoid walking through alleys and parking lots.
+
Be aware of places along your path of travel that could conceal a criminal (shrubbery, building recesses, etc.). Avoid or keep a distance from these areas whenever possible.
+
Take note of suspicious vehicles, especially those that appear to be circling the block or driving <a href=http://architectscanterbury.co.uk/page.php?sale=Kate-Spade-Large-Colin>Kate Spade Outlet</a> unusually slow. If you observe a suspicious vehicle, relay its description and location to DPS using one of the more than 300 blue light phones on and near campus.

If you plan to drink, do so in moderation to avoid putting yourself in a position of increased risk.
