Langham led an Audubon study that examined more than 500 bird species and determined that more than 300 in Canada and the United States face large climate shifts that could reduce their habitat by half or more by 2080. The changing environment will force birds to adapt to new habitats with different temperature and precipitation rates if they are to survive.

(Photo via Lifetime)Related PostsLifetime channel premiered its latest show, Girlfriend Intervention last night, and it lived up to all the side-eyes people were already giving it. The show takes a white woman who feels downtrodden about her look and her life and connects her to four fairy black girlfriends.
The first comprehensive species study of its kind, it will be used to help federal wildlife officials develop improved strategies to conserve bird species, whose abundance and migratory patterns depend on specialized habitats, such as forests, grasslands and coastal areas.

The four are Nikki Chu (interior designer), Tracy Balan (hairstylist and makeup artist), Tiffiny Young (stylist) and Tanisha Thomas (soul coach).
By 2080, the bald eagle, the national symbol of the United States, could see its habitat decrease by 75 percent, the report says.
+
The show鈥檚 tagline is Trapped inside of every white girl is a strong black woman ready to bust out.
All of the habitat of the common loon, the state bird michael kors bags of Minnesota, could disappear in the lower 48 states. In Southern California, the black oystercatcher may abandon coastal areas for more suitable climes in British Columbia and Alaska.

Let me find out that our souls have been kidnapped by unaware white women. Let me find out!
Other U.S. bird species that could face climate shifts that sharply reduce their habitat include the American avocet, the eared grebe, the trumpeter swan, the white-headed woodpecker and the chestnut-collared longspur.

Girlfriend Intervention doesn鈥檛 even try to act like it鈥檚 not a show that places the womanhood of Black and white women on some Cheap Tory Burch sort of scale. That in itself is insulting to every聽woman because it鈥檚 defining our behavior by our skin color.
What could be missing along with those birds and their ecological niches are their very presence and songs 鈥?crucial components of our daily lives and the cultural fabric of our communities, Langham said.
+
The show鈥檚 message is that every white woman needs a black girlfriend (or 4) to set her straight. Also: white women need paid guidance counselors. Oh and Black women are confident robots who put style above everything else.
The study was funded in part by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Its projections will help inform the service s migratory bird management objectives and landscape conservation planning, said spokeswoman Laury Parramore.

One of the biggest problems with the show is Tanisha, and that鈥檚 because she鈥檚 created a reputation for herself for being every bad about Black women. The woman of Bad Girls Club infamy is in no position to be anyone鈥檚 Iyanla Vanzant.
Previous climate studies involving North American birds have focused on a few species with limited habitats. For this study, Langham and a team of Audubon ornithologists analyzed 30 years of historical North American climate data.

On the show, she epitomizes every bit of the loud, neck-swerving, sassy black woman, and she takes her 鈥渏ob鈥?very seriously. She鈥檚 also the expert in the Black woman experience, apparently.
The team examined tens of thousands of records from the U.S. Geological Survey s American Breeding Bird Survey and the Audubon Christmas Bird Count, which for more than a century has collected data on bird populations across the nation.

In the first 10 minutes of the show, the following lines are uttered by Tanisha:
The study also used climate projections from a 2007 report by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which said scientists best estimate was that temperatures would rise 3.2 to 7.8 degrees by 2100. In contrast, the Christian Louboutin Outlet increase from 1901 to 2005 was 1.2 degrees.

Joanie is married to a FINE Black man. A Black woman would never let herself go with a man like that.
The data was used to project geographic distributions for 588 North American bird species during both the breeding and non-breeding seasons under a variety of scenarios through the end of the century.
+
With Caucasian women, everyone is really afraid to say how they really feel.
Each species was assigned a climate sensitivity status based on overall climactic suitability.
+
There is not a sister on this earth who ll miss a red carpet event because she feels fat. That s a white girl problem.
The study defined species as climate endangered if they were projected to lose more than half of their current habitat by 2050, without gain from potential expansion.
+
The other women weren鈥檛 much better in what they were saying. Tanisha was just the loudest. The girl lacks an inside voice, but it also makes her words more noticeable. One of them (Tiffiny) even mentioned how white women aren鈥檛 happy unless they鈥檙e a size 2.
Climate threatened species could lose more than half of their habitat by 2080, but have the potential for habitat expansion.

Holy sweeping statement, Batman! The show was full of it.
Climate stable species may lose less than half of their current habitat by 2080.
+
It was also full of tired and Gucci Sandals outdated phrases like YOU GO, GIRL! GET YOUR GROOVE BACK, SISTER!!! YES, GIRLFRIEND! I wanted to slide out my chair onto the carpet because it took itself so seriously but was so comedic that it seemed like satire.
The study suggests that 126 species are climate endangered because the climate of their entire habitat will probably change in 65 years. Another 188 other species are considered climate threatened.

I was sure Ashton Kutcher was going to jump out and be like 鈥淵ou鈥檝e been Punk鈥檇! This isn鈥檛 a real show but a skit on .鈥?
Relatively few bird species in those categories, however, are now viewed as conservation priorities by wildlife organizations and government agencies, the study says.

But nay. Joanie was given a terrible makeover where the hairstylist just weaved her up, her home was decorated like an IKEA store threw up and she wore her own clothes mostly. Her 鈥渟oul鈥?was fixed by going to a salsa class (she used to be a dancer. Yes, to them this made sense). And at the end, the ladies assured her that she now had 4 sisters, and 鈥測ou know what they say once you go Black, you can t go back.
For example, Baird s sparrow could lose more than 95 percent of its current range by 2080. Yet, it is listed as a species of least concern on the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List, the most comprehensive information source on the global conservation status of more than 10,000 bird Louboutin Shoes UK species.
+
I wish I was making this stuff up. Girlfriend Intervention had to be produced by clueless white producers who didn鈥檛 have a person of color to tell them to have a seat because this show is offensive for many reasons.
Stuart Butchart, who manages the list and is head of science at BirdLife International, a conservation group based in Cambridge, England, said the study results are troubling. But he said it wouldn t directly translate into changes to the list.

One of those is that they have 4 Black women who are trying to fix someone鈥檚 life and none of them can fix their own hair to look right. Chile, BYE.
It does give us a first understanding of how climate change is likely to impact such a range of species, he said.

Lifetime didn鈥檛 just jump the shark. They somersaulted off the cliff into the shark鈥檚 mouth. I didn t watch BAPS, and I heard that was bad, but Girlfriend Interventions is definitely a mess too. It is not worth watching, and I predict that it won鈥檛 be on air for long.
Despite the dire projections, Langham said he hoped that through concerted actions now the worst-case future scenarios could be avoided.

It s not easy being a bird 鈥?and things are going to get harder still, he said. But if you give nature half a chance, she responds.
