(3 NHL teams that regressed over the summer)
(Cowboys Game Ball- Picking A Player Who Offers Hope For The Season)

@@@
You always hope your team improves over the summer. Team should make the player acquisitions, change coaching personnel or introduce team policies that ultimately strengthen the team. Unfortunately for hockey fans, the following three teams actually regressed over the summer.
+
It came down to two players this week, one who showed us all that he is who we thought he is. The other wound up proving to us that is more than we may have expected.
1.San Jose Sharks
+
The runner up this week is , who played with determination and was effective almost every time he touched the ball. He had 118 yards on 22 carries. And this is not a statistic Gucci Frame that was padded by one or two breakaway runs. The longest carry he had was for 15 yards. No, Murray was getting good, effective yards almost every time he touched the ball.
General manager Doug Wilson talked a big game after blowing a 3-0 series lead and exiting the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the first round:

Of course, he also had one very, very bad play, when the ball was torn from his arms and run in for a touchdown by the 49ers. That play, just 54 seconds into the game, was certainly a shock to the Cowboys, and turned out to be the beginning of flood of first quarter miscues. Murray also was part of two other sequences that contributed to the general malaise that afflicted Dallas, although his involvement was in how he was not used.聽, the second-and-one call at SF 2 yard line. Had the Cowboys done the smart thing, not the clever thing, and fed Murray the ball, the game would likely have been tied. Then, in the second quarter, with first and goal at the 5, Dallas again went to the pass and it led to an interception. Even on their second touchdown play late in the game, Dallas was passing from the 2 yard line rather than running it in. Murray continues to prove what he can do - to everyone, it seems, but the coaching staff, who apparently doubt his ability at crucial Cheap Gucci Sale moments.
I think what we need to do is much more drastic than just putting a band-aid on it. When you enter Tory Burch Wedge Boots into this type of phase, no options should be off the table. You explore everything.
+
So the game ball goes to another player, one who there were many doubts about going into the game, but who answered them with hard, effective play and some bone-jarring hits. The first BTB game ball of 2014 goes to middle linebacker , who tied with for the team lead in tackles at eight. More to the point, he clearly answered the questions about his motivations. His play was not perfect, but he showed up in聽 as Dallas' second-highest rated defensive player (behind ). More importantly was the way he leveled a couple of people coming through the line. His talent was never questioned, but many had strong doubts that McClain really had his head straight after retiring from football twice. Instead, he looked and played for much of the game like he was the best athlete and player on the field for Dallas' defense.
Thus far, those options have included letting veteran defenseman Dan Boyle leave as an unrestricted free agent and stripping Joe Thornton of the captaincy. Oh, and they ve introduced ice girls to the mix.
+
On Sunday, he looked like he was fully committed to playing the game. He even had to play the nickel after Justin Durant went out with a groin strain. His performance overall looked to be about as much as the Cowboys could want from someone having to step in to cover for the injured Sean Lee. Dallas looks to have found a keeper, and the question about what to do at the Mike position is answered. In a game that left so many Gucci Chain other questions unanswered, and even brought up a couple of new ones, the emphatic way McClain took care of the questions around him and his position earn him the Game Ball for the first game of 2014.
Not a single move the Sharks have made look to be an improvement for the team. They have the reputation for being a superb team in the regular season and complete disappointment in the post-season. Now, they look like they ll just be a big disappointment all the way around next season.聽

2. Minnesota Wild
+
聽The Wild lack depth.
+
Mikko Koivu is an adequate center. He s usually flanked by Zach Parise and Charlie Coyle. Charlie who? Oh, right, young guy, scored 20 goals in two seasons that s right, it took him two seasons to score 20 goals, and he s in the Wild s top Tory Burch Nyc line. They did pick up Thomas Vanek, but he s rumored to be on the decline. Mikael Granlund and Jason Pominville round out their top-6. Yeah, once you get past Parise, there s pretty much not an offensive scare on the team.
+
To be fair, they re more of a defensive-minded team, which explains why they play Ryan Suter until he pukes, almost. At a certain point, he s going to burn out.聽And they do have a scary guy in , though that s mostly due to his propensity for dirty play. They also don t know who their goalie is going to be from game to game.
+
The Wild have a strong system based on mucking up the neutral zone. However, a strong line of offensive dynamos blows that wide open. If the Wild thought they addressed that with Vanek, especially since they still haven t signed Nino Niederreiter well, they re聽delusional.
+
So, they added Vanek, but they lost talented forward Matt Moulson to the Buffalo Sabres as well as defenseman Clayton Stoner and one-time 50 goal scorer Dany Heatley, both to the Anaheim Ducks. They may well still lose Niederreiter.聽聽Who they lost over the summer coupled with their failure to address a lack of depth explains why they regressed over the summer.
+
3. Boston Bruins
+
The Bruins lost power forward Jarome Iginla. Say what you want about his age, he played 78 regular-season games last season, scoring 30 goals and 31 assists for a total 61 points. The Bruins are another defensive-minded team, meaning they re not lousy with scorers, and they did little to address that loss. They re hoping winger聽Loui Eriksson bounces back, but he s an injury-prone sort. That s not good in the game of hockey.
+
The Bruins didn t regress as far as the Sharks and Wild. Jimmy Choo China They still have their Vezina Trophy-winning goalie Tuukka Rask. They still have a shutdown defense. They still have Milan Lucic to scare the competition.
+
However, in addition to losing Iginla, they hired a ridiculous assistant coach Joe Sacco. In Colorado, he s infamous for being the coach who ran the team into the ground, thus providing the reason for the Avalanche s miraculous season they weren t bad to begin with. Granted, in Boston he ll just be an assistant, but he s not likely to add to the team, so why have him involved at all?
+

+
So, Sharks, Wild and Bruins fans, sorry, but you re probably in for a disappointing season.
