FOLLOWING the habitual outflow of patients outside the country to receive medical, the Federal Government has disclosed plans to initiate policies stopping the outflow of government officials out of the country for medical reasons.

Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, said the Federal Government intended achieving this through the unveiling of the first exhibition of healthcare facilities at the Nigeria Hospitals Exhibition and Fair 2014.

The minister, who spoke in Abuja on Monday at a briefing on the Nigeria Hospitals Exhibition and Fair 2014 and WHO certification, also formally confirmed the certification of three additional Nigerian pharmaceutical manufacturers by the WHO.

Speaking on the policy, which he said would not breach the fundamental human rights, stated that before officials could be flown outside the country, the minister must have verified that 鈥渇acilities required to treat such person(s) is not available in the country.鈥?

He, however, stressed that in cases intending person insists on being flown abroad, the government would not fund such cause.
