The recently restored structure is a bank barn, a type of barn that's usually built into the side of a hill with two levels accessible from ground levels. The bottom of the barn is made from fieldstone. Inside are huge beams with wooden pegs instead of nails. Most Saucon Valley residents Michael Kors Bayville Loafer know the farm well. For many years, Pichel's sold produce, drawing customers for its tomatoes, peppers and berries.Pichel's also sold tomatoes to what was once Stokes' Canning Co. in New Jersey. Stokes' was later bought by Campbell Soups, and for about 25 years Pichel's tomatoes were used in the company's famous tomato soup. Pichel's also produced field corn and soybeans. No longer a business, the farm is McGovern's home. She's the third generation owner of the property, where she keeps two horses and a flock of chicken and peacocks. And of course the tour will include the Michael Heller Barn. The structure is thought to be the oldest structure on the historic 18th century Heller Homestead property, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The conservancy has been working to preserve and restore the barn.A front Tory Burch Cheap wall remnant, with its iconic stone arch, recently has been stabilized. In conjunction with the tour is the Saucon Valley Barn Photo Exhibit at the Heller Homestead Art Gallery. The exhibit runs through Sept. 28. Photographs by deLeon, Timothy Frey, Beth Schmoyer, Frank T. Smith and Dave Willard will be featured. The exhibit at Heller Homestead, 1890-92 Friedensville Road, Bethlehem, is free.
