After losses of $2 million last season and projected similar losses this Christian Louboutin Shoes Sale season, the San Francisco Bulls minor-league hockey team could fold as soon as next week, coach Pat Curcio told The Chronicle on Monday morning.
鈥淚 do tend to be drawn to things that are asking questions,鈥?actress Nicole Beharie observes to theGrio about her new series. 鈥淲e are talking about the history of the United States versus modern times. What鈥檚 happening now, what鈥檚 happening then, the change in demographics and all that stuff without really saying it. It鈥檚 there. I feel like it鈥檚 happening in subtle ways. We鈥檙e still having that conversation while fighting off monsters and the apocalypse.鈥?

Curcio has a pending agreement with a new ownership group that would save the Sharks-affiliated franchise but relocate the team to Oakland or Fresno. The deal hinges on league approval and a new venue, and league meetings are Wednesday in Philadelphia. Curcio cannot name the new potential owners because of a non-disclosure agreement.
A creative vision of Washington Irving鈥檚 classic tale, Fox鈥檚 mystery drama series places the very confused Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison), a white, British, 18th-century legionnaire resurrected from his grave, into the current day to ward Cheap True Religion Jeans off the age-old Headless Horseman.

With the Bulls folding or moving and the 49ers moving to Santa Clara, the Giants will be the only pro sports team in the greater city area; the Bulls play at the Cow Palace in Daly City, just on the border of San Francisco.
Except in this adaptation, viewers quickly learn the evil demon is one of the Four Horsemen of Death from the Book of Revelations.

鈥淚f anyone can save us 鈥? I don鈥檛 know what to do,鈥?said Curcio, who put together an ownership group to bring pro hockey to San Francisco in 2012 only to see investors drop out as losses mounted. 鈥淚 want to do what鈥檚 best for the city, the league and the Sharks. But we may have to cease operations next week if we don鈥檛 finalize this deal. It鈥檚 devastating.?
Beharie plays Abbie Mills, an African-American detective who partners herself with Crane to take on his nemesis despite what initial reserves he has, considering he believes black people are still in chains.

The ECHL team would stay in the Bay Area only if the Warriors agree to allow the Bulls to play at Oracle Arena,聽 according to Curcio. The Bulls would reschedule all of their games to avoid conflicts with Warriors games and concerts, but the Warriors have first right of refusal to share the arena and so far have shown no inclination to allow the Bulls to play at Oracle on open dates on the schedule. It鈥檚 no secret that the Warriors have been exploring a move to San Francisco.
鈥淚t just kind of feels like this dude is crazy,鈥?the 28-year-old actress comments. 鈥淚 like that the writers are bold enough to take it there and not try to ignore it, and not necessarily make light of it. But to poke at the fact that it鈥檚 a part of American history and turn it on its head.鈥?

One major problem for the Bulls has been the Cow Christian Louboutin Shoes UK Palace, according to Curcio. The Bulls pay all their expenses at the building, and the team made numerous upgrades, including putting in a new ice system and scoreboard; the arena and the team split concessions and parking and the Cow Palace gets a cut of the tickets. The state-owned operated Cow Palace was unwilling to explore new terms, however, even with the Bulls on the brink of defaulting, Curcio said.
Race and social construction rather poignantly slip into the fantastical plot, Beharie comments, and others have taken note as Tory Burch Cosmetic Cases well.

鈥淲hy not help us out, get us back on our feet and then make revenue when it comes?鈥?he said.聽 鈥淲e lost $2 million last year, the Cow Palace made probably $500,000 鈥?we said, 鈥楲et鈥檚 renegotiate,鈥?but that鈥檚 not going to happen. That鈥檚 the final nail in the coffin.鈥?
The even called it a 鈥渘ew day for race on network TV.鈥?

Cow Palace CEO Ken Alstott said Monday that he does not have information about the Bulls鈥?finances and that his understanding was that the team was restructuring its ownership group. Only then would there be the potential of talks about a new contract.
Beharie agrees, adding, 鈥淓ven though we鈥檙e not heavy handed about it.鈥?

鈥淲e鈥檝e helped them with ideas about cutting costs and they鈥檝e done that,鈥?Alstott said. 鈥淚 know the league has meetings this week and they鈥檒l be talking about some of this.鈥?

Would the facility consider a new deal with the Bulls under new ownership? 鈥淚f it made sense we would,鈥?Alstott said. 鈥淏ut it has to be profitable for us or we鈥檇 rent the space out for other events. That鈥檚 part of this industry, things come and go.鈥?

Curcio claims that the Bulls have brought the city $16 million in revenue and jobs created in their season and a half, but, he said,聽 鈥淭he costs of doing true religion jeans business in San Francisco are the highest in the league. 鈥ut then you look, and every night, there are 1,000 kids in the stands, watching us and dreaming of being hockey players. You can鈥檛 put a price on that.鈥?
Following Sleepy Hollow鈥檚 premiere Sept. 16, the pilot caught fire, taking Twitter and by storm, and giving Fox the in primetime and its highest-rated fall drama premiere in seven years.

Among the issues, Curcio said, is that players are paying $3,000 a month in rent, given San Francisco鈥檚 housing costs.
Reviewers felt it was crazy, bold and ridiculous enough to be entertaining.

鈥淭hey鈥檙e trying to operate a minor-league team in a major-league city,鈥?Alstott said. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 got to be tough. They鈥檝e been doing their best.鈥?
described it as 鈥渄umb, convoluted, and absolutely insane at times, but it s way more fun than many of today s self-serious action dramas.鈥?

Curcio said he hopes to stay on as coach should the pending agreement with new ownership go through.
deemed it 鈥渟traight-up-bonkers鈥?and anything but sleepy.

And suggested, 鈥淭here is peculiar electricity crackling through this familiar bag of bones.鈥?

For Beharie, who has previously been seen in films like Shame and 42, the TV series offers a challenge and new direction.
+
鈥淚t鈥檚 a real risk,鈥?she says. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a crazy story, right? Fantasy, but based in modern times. There are flashbacks, retelling history, monsters, the whole shebang. It鈥檚 not a vein that I鈥檝e gone down before 鈥?mind you I love that kind of stuff 鈥?but it鈥檚 not something I鈥檝e done. I feel like it鈥檚 completely out of the box, not something people would necessarily expect.鈥?

She adds, 鈥淚鈥檓 always looking for challenges in my career.鈥?

On Kerry Washington鈥檚 impact: 鈥楾his is possible鈥?

Beharie may not have been formally introduced to the world yet, but she seems to have stepped onto a promising trajectory.
+
From McQueen鈥檚 contemporary take on sexuality and addiction, to the Jackie Robinson biopic, her choices test the range of her skill and traverse time, circumstance and collective identity, and all take an interest in social innovation.
+
鈥淚鈥檝e been really lucky to be able to do very different things and work with different types of people,鈥?she explains. Michael Kors Hand Bag 鈥淚鈥檇 never done anything with this texture, with this group of people, so I guess the goal would be that I would continue to be challenged and to have other opportunities.鈥?
+
After Kerry Washington rebirthed the black female lead on network television with Scandal, Beharie follows a trend in drama to be all-inclusive, defying expectations for characters of different races, genders, and religions.
+
She believes Washington鈥檚 accomplishments enabled the prospect for her in this new role.
+
鈥淎bsolutely, without a doubt,鈥?says Beharie. 鈥淪he just literally, her and Shonda Rhimes with Scandal, just ripped open that hole鈥hey made it known to the industry that this is possible. I鈥檓 really glad and I鈥檓 totally rooting for her. I love, love, love her work.鈥?
