It’s not that soloist Ilya Gringolts wasn’t equal to the madly difficult technical demands of his part, or the orchestral players to theirs. And there were some beautifully immaculate moments, such as the flute-and-violin entanglement at the end of the slow movement. It was more a question of temperament. The work has an aspect of a high-wire act performed under neon lights — a quality Gringolts’ more reflective approach didn’t quite capture.

Could you ask him to call me? cheap orlistat 120mg While he’s gone, one of his young assistants shows me around the studio. We come to a table covered with crusted gold and dark brown objects. What are these, I ask? “Phalluses,” she says, nodding neutrally as she appraises them. “Those are phalluses.” She takes me outside to see a gold car covered in barnacles. “It’s supposed to look like it’s been dredged up from the river.” I’m admiring it, a little mesmerised, when I realise Barney is at my elbow. He’s somehow silently materialised. I ask him how the audition was.
