@@@ Steve Edward Perkins was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Saturday at a West Waco home.
The parents told investigators they were out of the house and Perkins, who had been staying with the family for the past few weeks, was watching the 10-year-old girl. But when the parents returned, the girl accused Perkins of fondling her under her shirt, Waco police Sgt. Patrick Swanton reported. The father confronted Perkins, who attempted to leave after being told police were on the way. The father detained Perkins and during that time Perkins was struck on the head. After investigating the complaint, officers arrested Perkins and took him to an area hospital where he was treated for a minor injury to his head. He remained in jail Monday on a $50,000 bond.
