@@@ TEMPLE (August 4, 2014) Temple鈥檚 new fire chief Mitch Randles takes the oath of office during a ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Gober Party House at 1516 West Avenue H that鈥檚 open to the public.
Mitch Randles, who headed search and rescue efforts after the powerful tornado that struck Joplin, Mo., in May 2011 as fire chief there, took over the reins of Temple Fire & Rescue on Monday, succeeding longtime Fire Chief Lonzo Wallace, who retired late last year. Randles had served as fire chief in Joplin since October 2010, managing 96 personnel and six fire stations. He has served nearly 30 years in fire and emergency medical services. He and his wife are parents of two adult children.
