When you have a serious problem with binge eating ever wonder?

In a current issue of the Harvard Mental Health Letter, I examine a feature article about the treatment of binge and bulimia eating.

Bulimia means 2 or more episodes of binge eating (consuming a lot of food in 2 hours or less) at the least twice per week for 3 months.

These episodes may be accompanied by vomiting or purging (with laxatives or diuretics) and may alternate with fasting and compulsive exercising.

Those who suffer from bulimia often see this behavior as a shameful secret.

As a psychiatric diagnosis because it is being considered for inclusion more attention that have been gotten by binge Eating Disorder ( binging is not followed by vomiting, fasting or exercise ) recently.

The criteria are tentatively listed as a condition that triggers significant worry with at least 3 of the symptoms occurring at least 2 days per week for 6 months:

eating very quickly

eating until uncomfortably full

eating when maybe not hungry

eating alone

feeling embarrassed or responsible afterward

I guess it boils down to the frequency and severity of the issue, because most of the citizenry has probably employed in these eating habits at one time or still another.

You could be a binge eater, but you would have to be binging very regularly to be considered to have Binge Eating Disorder.

The time is engaged in some of these behaviors all by many people. Individuals who live alone usually eat alone. And while eating when you arent hungry isn't the absolute most rewarding experience, sometimes it is just an ingrained habit.

You may not need to be heavy to be always a binge eater.

Lots of people with binge eating problems think they are overweight or are worried that they will become significantly overweight.

Dieting doesn't always end the binging and is frequently considered being section of the problem as opposed to the answer.

The body resists dieting by increasing appetite and slowing metabolism, normally followed by a rigorous preoccupation with food, more binging, anxiety and depression.

Seek help and have the support you deserve, if you are experiencing bulimia or severe binge eating dilemmas. Dont keep it a secret. That you do not must be heroic and suffer alone.

Join the team, if you participate in a number of the binge eating behaviors.
