@@@ The exterior of Woods on the corner of Telegraph and 17th. Jim Woods, owner of popular two popular beer bars in San Francisco, has opened his third venture in Oakland s Uptown. At , <a href=http://www.alportico.net/gosoc.php>true religion jeans</a> located at 1701 Telegraph Avenue, Woods is operating a three-barrel (93-gallon) brewery above an approximately 2,300 square foot bar. At the bar鈥攁 large patio highlighted by a walk-around fireplace and聽twenty-foot restored antique mahogany bar鈥擶oods will serve a changing selection of 12 beers on tap, consisting聽mostly of Woods beers freshly brewed upstairs along with a few guest taps for local breweries. The beer is also available for purchase to-go in bottles and growlers, and the brewery will supply Woods other two San Francisco locations. For food, as at Woods original , the bar will serve empanadas made by San Francisco s聽El Porte帽o with the menu likely expanding in the future. Woods Bar first opened (softly) to <a href=http://www.alportico.net/gosoc.php> true religion outlet</a> the public on First Friday last week and will be open daily starting at 5 p.m. even as workers put the final touches on things. The Grand Opening is set for October 11, upon which Woods will debut聽Fred Brown Ale, a tribute to the building s landlord, Fred Brown, who ran聽Rocsil s shoes in that space for <a href=http://www.alportico.net/gosoc.php>true religion jeans</a> 25 years before retiring in January. The building itself has even older history, as Woods uncovered and restored the original 1927 facade (shown above) buried beneath decades of grit and stucco (shown below) with help from the city of Oakland s Redevelopment Office.
It wasn t originally in the plans, it was a lot of extra work, but once we got a look behind the dry wall and saw all that original detail, we really wanted to have that displayed, says Woods.
