THE Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), Sagamu Unit, said it has lost a sum of N25 million to vandalism of its equipment in the last five months.

Stating this over at weekend was the Business Manager of Sagamu Unit, Mr Peter Oyelami, in a chat with the Nigerian Tribune, who lamented that the activities of vandals in some towns under the unit were alarming.

Oyelami explained that the development had caused the company a lot in term of revenue generation, saying that the company could not generate revenue in areas where there was total darkness due to the activities of vandals.

He said: 鈥淭he cost of vandalism of IBEDC equipment is enormous. It is a very colossal loss to our company. We are losing revenue in areas where the vandals might have perpetrated their unpatriotic act, because we cannot serve our customers bills for the service (s) not provided. It is a serious issue.鈥?

The business manager appealed to members of the public, especially communities under the business unit, to collaborate with the company in ensuring that its installations were not vandalised by monitoring them.
