Nigeria-based nominees for the 2014 edition of Africa Music Awards AFRIMA) have been presented with certificates of nomination at Quilox Club, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Representing the International Committee of AFRIMA were Co-Producer/Country Director, Nigeria, Kingsley James; Chairman, International Media Committee, Steve Ayorinde, and Member, International Media Committee, Biodun Kupoluyi. Other attendees included African music industry personalities, artiste managers, on-air-personalities (OAPs) and music industry stakeholders.

Addressing the gathering before the formal presentation of certificates, Kingsley James spoke about the entry submission rules and regulations which predetermined how the 9-man jury panel carried out their responsibilities of selecting nominees based on the merit of their submitted works.

They were also guided by AFRIMA s core values of FACE IT Fairness, Authenticity, Creativity, Excellence, Integrity and Transparency and this ensured that we have a nominations list that is acknowledging the hard-work of both established and budding artistes in Africa , James said.

The Country Director Nigeria urged every nominee to accept the eventual result of the voting process with grace saying every one of you is a potential winner and even after the trophy is given at the award ceremony, we expect everyone to continue to be ambassadors of African music and AFRIMA .

Artistes present such as Omawumi, TemiDollFace, Niyola, Brymo, Nikki Laoye, expressed delight with their nomination for the iconic award which seeks to celebrate the cultural uniqueness of Africa as well as celebrating the talents.

Omawumi stated, I m so glad that the music industry is changing. We have women who are strong in character and their music is equally beautiful that you cannot help but enjoy their music. I am grateful to AFRIMA for nominating me in this 2014 edition .
Kupoluyi congratulated the artistes and commended them for their great works and contributions to the music industry; he also wished them all the best in the AFRIMA 2014 awards.

The event was held in partnership with Africa s number one luxury nightclub, Quilox and the CEO, Quilox, Shina Peller was also in attendance to present nomination certificates to the artistes.
The main award ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, November 9 in Lagos. It will be preceded by the AFRIMA Music Village between November 4 and 7.
