Coming-of-age goalkeeper David de Gea is reportedly set to be rewarded for his recent form.

According to The Mirror, Manchester United are planning on handing the Spanish shot-stopper a huge new contract to ensure that the player's peak years are spent at Old Trafford.

A 23-year-old glovesman, de Gea has produced 15 saves from seven  outings to date - a rate of one for every 42 minutes he is on the field, on average.

Valued at 16 million by transfermarkt.co.uk, de Gea's current deal runs out in 2016.

And The Mirror believe United could more than double his salary before Christmas as they want to offer him 120,000 per week over the course of five years.
