27-year-old Dann spent two-and-a-half years at Ewood Park, rising to position of club captain in March 2013, before leaving to join Premier League side Crystal Palace in January 2014.

He has since become a key player at Selhurst Park, featuring heavily in  unlikely survival in the top flight, and starting six of seven games so far this campaign.

However, he still feels fondly for Rovers, and believes that the set-up at Ewood Park is perfect to lead a fight for promotion. Speaking to the , Dann praised the changes that head coach Gary Bowyer has taken, with the situation looking good for the first time since their relegation from the top flight in 2012.

The central defender said: With the squad they ve got now and the type of lads Gary has brought in, and the coaching staff, I definitely think things have taken a turn for the better.

 And given time, with that squad, I think they ve got a good chance of getting back into the Premier League.

 Hopefully that can be this season. 

Dann arrived at Ewood Park in 2011, and, whilst he made 28 appearances for Rovers in his first season, he suffered the ignominy of relegation from the Premier League under Steve Kean in 2012. Following the relegation, he cemented himself as a key part of the first-team squad, rising to the position of captain in 2013, and he admitted that leaving Rovers was a hard decision, with the Premier League looking unlikely last season.

 I enjoyed my time there, I was captain, so to leave a big club like Blackburn is never easy.

 I wanted to play in the Premier League and at the time it didn t seem like we were going to get there last season.

 I don t think anyone will blame me for leaving and going to play back in the Premier League.

But it wasn t an easy decision and I just hope they can get back into the Premier League come the end of this season. 

Bowyer has slowly been improving fortunes at Ewood Park since his appointment as permanent head coach, leading the club to an eight placed finish in his first full season in charge. Rovers currently sit mid-table this season, with four wins and four losses from 11 games, and the goalscoring exploits of Jordan Rhodes and Rudy Gestede look likely to see the Lancashire-based side in-and-around the playoffs come the closing stages of the season.
