The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader and one-time Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is better known as Jagaban, a title, which has gained prominence, especially among his numerous followers and political allies.  But not many are aware that the chieftaincy title was bestowed on the former senator by His Royal Highness, Alhaji Haliru Dantoro III, the Emir of Borgu (New Bussa, Niger State).
Society Happenings learnt that the friendship between the emir and Tinubu dated back to their years in the Senate in the 90s. Since they struck the friendship, they have not only been good friends, but also strong business partners.

The tall and lanky emir, who was crowned in 2002, is regarded as one of the richest monarchs in the North and is the fourth emir of the kingdom since the emirate was formed.

The Borgu Emirate is a Nigerian traditional state with its capital in New Bussa. It was formed in 1954 when the Bussa and Kaiama emirates were merged.
