@@@ Farmington residents will vote on changes to the town sign ordinance and on a proposal to raise $40,000 for the first of five payments on a front-end loader.

Town Manager Richard Davis said the town sign amendments currently prohibit political signs at three traffic islands, and the amendment would prohibit all signs on those islands.

The islands are at the intersection of Farmington Falls Road and Main Street, the intersection of High Street and Farmington Falls Road and the intersection of Bridge Street and U.S. Route 2.

The other proposed change to the ordinance would allow advertising banners to be displayed for under 30 days after getting approval from the code enforcement officer.

The second topic of the special town meeting will be a request for $40,000 for the first of five payments on a new front-end loader.

The Public Works Department asked selectmen to pursue acquiring a new front loader after the transmission failed on its 25-year-old loader.

The money for the first payment will come from the unassigned fund.

The regular Board of Selectmen s meeting will follow the special town meeting. Agenda items include:

鈥?hearing a brief presentation from Dwight Hines on matters of economic development and transparency;

鈥?awarding the bid for crack sealing;

鈥?awarding the bid for a front-end loader;

鈥?hearing an update on fire service grants and a possible sharing of the Farmington Falls Station with Chesterville;

鈥?appointing the downtown tax increment financing advisory committee;

鈥?amending the town of Farmington park rules to include Bjorn Park;

鈥?adopting an updated computer, network and email usage policy;

鈥?holding an executive session pursuant to 1 M.R.S. 搂 405.6.A to discuss the selection of a contract assessing service and to discuss the manager s annual performance evaluation.

The special town meeting will be held 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the downstairs meeting room of the Community Center on Middle Street.
