@@@ A man in his teens was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after he struck and killed a pedestrian early Monday in Palo Alto, police said.
The crash happened when the driver careened off the roadway, hit a power pole and rolled his 2007 Nissan Maxima on East Bayshore Road near at about 6:15 a.m., police said.
Police found the victim, a man, dead in the street. It is not clear where he was at the time of the crash, police said.
The driver, who was not hurt, stayed at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, police said. Authorities identified him only as a man in his teens and said he had been the only person in the car.
The victim鈥檚 name has not been released.
