traditional and political leaders of Ado-Ekiti community in Ekiti State have met with various stakeholders with a view to finding a lasting peace in the community following days of violence.

The emergency peaceful meeting held between the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe and the  Ewi-in-Council on one hand with leaders of Ado Progressives Union (APU) and representatives of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the other.

In a communique issued at the end of the meeting held at the palace hall, the leaders expressed sadness over the murder of Chief Omolafe Aderiye, a prominent indigene of Ado-Ekiti, and commiserated with the deceased鈥檚 family and the people of the town.

They also registered their 鈥渟adness and unreserved condemnation of the most uncivilised methods used by the hoodlums which culminated in the killing of Chief Aderiye and perpetrating wanton destruction of lives and property in Ado-Ekiti.鈥? The communique was signed by the Odogun of Ado, Chiefs Aladetoyinbo Obayemi; the Aro of Ado Ekiti, Awopetu Fabiyi;  the Odunro of Ado, Ola-Ojo Ogunlade  and  Secretary to Ewi-in-Council, Ogunmodimu Bayo.

Others were Chiefs Obafemi Ojo (President APU) and Ogunleye Olugbayo (APU vice president 1) while Mr Tunji Adigun, the APC chairman in Ado and Mr Francis Kola Lawal, his PDP counterpart in Ado also endorsed the document.

The document said: 鈥淚t is the strong view of the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti and Ewi-in-Council that Ado indigenes should embrace peace and in oneness fight for the stability and progress of the town instead of working towards its depletion of human and material resources and development  retrogression.鈥?

They charged sons and daughters of Ado-Ekiti 鈥渘otwithstanding their political affiliation to see Ado-Ekiti being superior to all other interests,鈥?saying 鈥淎do indigenes should stop harbouring outsiders to destroy our town.鈥?p>Related Articles:</p>
