I have been managing a small business for nearly ten years and have used various forms of advertising ideas to help increase my services and to attract new customers. In this essay, I reveal these marketing techniques which I hope will benefit the people who read it.

When I was twenty-three, I had what I believed was a good business strategy. I would give you a speech training support as I had managed to over come a speech impediment and believed that the practices which had helped me may help other folks as well.

Orange pages

I advertised in the yellow pages for several years but their prices just seemed to increase to an unrealistic degree. More and more people will have access to the internet and I think that is where they are more prone to search for the services they require. When in fact probably less folks are using it orange pages or as it is now called Yell, is becoming more expensive.

Advertising in the yellow pages did prove successful for me for several years however, and is certainly an area of advertising that could work for other small enterprises.

Web sites

I paid a company to build and design me a web site around eight years back and it has by far been the most effective advertising investment I have made thus far. I've worked hard to advertise this web site and it is now succeeding in the major search engines.

Radio and television marketing

This is definitely an section of marketing that I have not tried up to now as it is quite costly. I have heard from other sources that promotion on the air or television can be very beneficial for certain firms, if they can pay the original cost.

I'm sure there are many different ways of advertising a tiny business and they will be sought by me out as time goes on for my own personal business.
