She then used her dedication, knowledge and skills to help our earthly environment with her work at ADEQ and most recently with ITCA and their environmental compliance and education needs. We're not seeing that, just yet, because we're in a new budget year; but, as we go on, if it continues, that will be helpful in a tight budget, City of Hope Finance Director Debbie Hall explained.Budgeted fuel costs for the city are up about $14,000 for 2015 over last year, with most departmental budgets that have fuel costs simply holding at 2014 levels, reflecting Hall's point. The sanitation department is pretty steady; but, the street department varies because they have to do mowing and that sort of thing, she said.Those two departments reflect the largest fuel costs, generally, with sanitation department costs budgeted $7,000 higher for 2015, while street department fuel costs are budget at $55,000 as they were in 2014.Overall, city fuel costs in 2014 were budgeted at about $320,000, while 2015 budgeted costs are about $334,000. The city buys its fuel on a cents per gallon over wholesale price basis, Hall said.By comparison, Hempstead County fuel costs run at least $100,000 higher than the city. Part of the difference is in the cost of gas for sheriff's department patrol cars and road and bridge repairs for the road department.
