Imagine being able to sit down at your piano, place the hands on the keyboard, and just play! Several piano students think the capacity to do this requires years of study. They are able to not become more wrong!

Learning to play what you feel does not require extensive understanding of harmony or concept. All that is needed is the power to do two things:

1. Feel that you understand enough

2. Feel that you're good enough

A large number of classically trained pianists are able to perform Rachmaninoff and Bach but are struggling to go to town poetically at the keyboard. Why? Because of the above 2 beliefs! It is insufficient to possess acquired keyboard technique.

For example, many would be writers understand how to construct a compelling plot and know how a story should be created, but until they've opened their inner speech from criticism...until they feel that they are sufficient to publish that story, it simply will not get done!

The same goes for every other art and music. I will not inform you exactly how many instances the above 2 statements were repeated by me to myself because I really wanted to get past my concern with to be able to create music at the piano. I wanted to play what I felt at any given time - to help you to improvise. But this was extremely hard so long as there was some voice in me having said that I recently wasn't sufficient. And trust in me, we ALL have these sounds somewhere within our heads at one time or yet another.

Sooner or later, I got at night have to seek other's approval and realized that I was more crucial compared to the music. I discovered that I already knew ample to play the piano.
