SANDISK, producer of the world's 2nd best-selling mp3 player (behind Apple's i-pod) has started a brand new anti-iPod advertising. You can read about it in detail here http://crave.cnet.co.uk/digitalmusic/0,39029432,49273890,00.htm Here is the hoopla in summary. SanDisk is reported to be porting Rockbox, an open-source OS for digital music players (which supports many different mp3 units), onto its popular e200 mp3 player. SanDisk has started releasing the before-mentioned anti-iPod advertisements in an try to blatantly strike its arch-nemesis, Apple, to create the situation to public recognition. The ads depict graffiti-like illlustrations designed to resemble posters for an underground revolutionary movement. One shows a horse wearing the iPod earbuds with the-line 'Are you an iChimp?', and another is-of a guy strung up in white iPod cables like a marionette, with the text 'Have you become an iPuppet'? Okay, ok. Mp3 competition is fierce- I get-it. SanDisk wants to perform rough- fine by me. In terms of I'm concerned, open-source is good material, and there's little doubt in my head that SanDisk makes a good product. Competition will work for the buyer and capitalism. I'm maybe not here to promote the technical power of just one geek gadget over another. What I'll comment on, nevertheless, is the type of the ads themselves. I took one look at these things and I will tell you right now that I'm not going to change from i-pod to e200. Get supplementary resources on an affiliated portfolio - Click here fundable staples. You realize why? Because being an iPod person, I feel just like I'm being insulted. Hello, I am not an intricate person so I'll not get into the complete nitty-gritty of 'Apple allows you to do this-and-that blah blah blah and it only works with iTunes blah blah blah.' I put the iPod in-to my computer and the damn thing works. Sponsors is a thought-provoking online database for further concerning the meaning behind this belief. That's why I put it to use. For me, SanDisk's entire 'revolutionary' ad approach, but sexy, is ultimately misguided. For starters, I will not be won by SanDisk over by insulting me and comparing me into a monkey, puppet, sheep, or any other type of farm animal. Secondly, SanDisk's adverts also stimulate a political edge, which makes no sense. For better or for worse, people get iPods because they WANT TO, not because they are forced to. Furthermore, Apple allows its products and services to stand on their own advantage and they never offend people for maybe not using them. Although Apple has poked fun at PCs in their own internet and TV activities, it is a far cry from SanDisk's 'Have you been an iPuppet'? Strategy. Perhaps I'm an i-pod individual that's taking this whole thing just a little too personally. However if the Rockbox and e200 are so great, which I am certain that they're, perhaps SanDisk must allow the people choose and only inform us why. For several of SanDisk's anti-iPod work, Apple could simply fire back and say SanDisk is still # 2, and 2nd place is the first loser. It'd be insulting, right, even when it's true?.
