The main objective of the trademark search is to find out if someone has previously trademarked or registered your intended mark. As early as this stage you will need a trademark attorney with the idea to assist you in your search or perform trademark search on your behalf.

No trademark is going to be registered twice

The US Patent and Trademark Office is see-through about this, there isn't any chance for that you register a trademark that has been previously registered or appears in their record. After you have filed your application the USPTO will conduct a trademark search as part of their investigation, admit it, they may not be doing it to your benefit, they are simply looking for something to disqualify the application. So, to spare you the trouble and saving time and money (USPTO is not going to refund your fee, so that you should be certain with the application), it's advisable that you do your trademark search before submitting the job. Your trademark attorney will probably be the best person to perform research to suit your needs.

You may also perform Online Trademark Search, check out the website to find out more.
