Routt County is the 15th most extensive from the 64 counties of the state of Colorado from the United States. As from the 2010 census, the population was 23,509. The county seat is Steamboat Springs.

Routt County was created out of the western percentage of Grand County on January 29, 1877. It was named in honor of John Long Routt, the very last territorial and first state governor of Colorado. The western percentage of Routt County was split on form Moffat County on February 27, 1911.

According to the 2000 census, the county has a total area of 2,368.02 square miles (6,133.1 km2), ones 2,361.59 square miles (6,116.5 km2) (or 99.73 percent) is land and 6.43 square miles (16.7 km2) (or 0.27 percent) is water.
