The Greyhound is just a medium to medium/large dog breed that is delicate and elegant. They weigh between 60-70 pounds and reach 26 inches to 30 inches tall. They're a type that enjoys family company and loves routine. They like to eat at the same time every day, sleep at the same time and walk/exercise at the same time.

Acquiesced by the AKC, the greyhound is accepted in any coat color or color combination. Their coat is firm, small, easy and straight. They are super easy groom, only requiring an occasional scrubbing and only requiring a dry shampoo when necessary.

When they are outside in winter months to help keep them warm they are sensitive to cold temperatures and have to wear a sweater.

Peaceful inside and fairly large power outside, the Greyhound can make a good house dog provided that they get normal outside exercise and walks. They are sweet and docile in nature and frequently present somewhat of a shy side. Because of their timid part, they do best with older or well behaved children. Early socialization is most beneficial for other dogs and small pets. Even with socialization they could follow little, non-canine animals, especially cats. Constant education is essential, but Greyhounds are simple enough to train. They are bad watch dogs because of their calm, docile character.

Dating back to over 2000 years, the Greyhound originated from the Middle East. Most sources declare that Egypt is their place of origin. Their agility, speed and energy created them excellent hunters and they were formerly mainly used to look. They're used mainly in dog racing today. When they can no longer race, they are often destroyed. Luckily, Greyhound recovery agencies have been spending so much time to guard retired racing Greyhounds and they have had success using their ownership plans.

If you are looking for a calm, affectionate type that will enjoy some outside exercise but will equally enjoy soothing inside with you, the Greyhound may be precisely what you're looking for. Expected, peaceful family situations that provides them with the friendship that they require are great for this type. consumers
