WHY COPPER?
Copper is one of the oldest metals in history, discovered 10,000 years ago and used like a platinum by ancient civilizations. The invention of copper introduced the Chalcolithic Age or Copper Age, where civilizations transitioned by using stone to metals to make tools. Initially useful for coinage and ornament by the earliest civilizations, throughout time copper was used extensively due to its versatility and other properties in the fields of architecture, technology, industrial design, etc. Copper includes a unique interaction using its environment. Copper develops a patina the industry tarnish that forms at first glance from the material with time. Patinas offer an extra protective layer to copper plus a unique aesthetic. The interaction from the user and also the different environments can create a unique patina that will reflect your journey of these unique conditions.
KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN
Real FX Digital will likely be launching the Coop on Monday, June 24th on Kickstarter. We will be offering 100 Coops on the early bird at $39, the normal price will probably be $49. The campaign will run until Monday, July 29th. To date we now have designed and produced prototypes of the Coop so we want to go on it into production. After the project is successfully funded, we would be able to make the metal injection molds necessary for manufacturing.
