This is how a pillowcase triggered a surprisingly deep discussion between a four-year-old boy and his mom Let me begin by clarifying. I'm not the mother or the four-year-old but rather the uncle who gifted his favorite nephew a new pillow and pillowcase. The pillow and case that would cause this deep exchange of ideas were The Mini-King childrens pillow and matching Mini-King pillow case. I got them one night on an impulse while doing a little shopping on Amazon. My prime membership affords me complimentary shipping and the luxury of completely avoiding all shopping malls for well over 2 years. That is a win-win for everyone, including my little nephew who now had a package heading his way. A few days later, I got a thank you call from my sis saying the pillow and cases arrived and are a big hit. She then went on to tell me about an e-book that was included with the pillowcases. I forgot that the cases come with a bedtime story showcasing the pillow character who's smiling face is printed on the corner of each case. It turns out this charming little story of a pillow that gets dirty and put into the washing machine promoted a deep conversation about right, wrong and the subtle art of parenting. This unfolded that night in Jason's bed room as my sister shared the downloaded picture book with him. Early in the story, the kid and his pal "the pillow" are in the yard playing. This caused a very definitive "he is being naughty" from my nephew. When asked, who is being naughty? Jason explained to his mother that the little boy was naughty since he took his pillow outside, and it will get all dirty. I was already rolling with laughter at this very serious analysis when my sis stated, "wait, there is more." As the story advances the pillow character gets more and more dirty, which triggers an extremely concerned "he is gonna get sick from the germs". Requesting clarification my sister discovers that the little kid in the story is now running the risk of illness by associating with the dirtied pillow. This begins a short conversation on germs and how some can cause people to get sick. Jason, satisfied that the boy is most likely not in any serious danger, allows his mom to continue. The story wraps up with the expected bed-time story happy ending. Leading Jason to conclude that the boy wasn't actually naughty after all because his mother let him take his pillow outside. Then closing with a hilarious exchange based upon this four year olds' view of correct parenting. Jason still thinks the story mommy was too lenient. As expected by their exceptional reviews, the pillow and pillow case are loved for their softness and happy colors. Unexpected was the impact of the included e-book bedtime story "The Mini-King's. Big Surprise". Though my sister and I both had a good laugh about it afterwards. She genuinely enjoyed the story time and conversation that such a simple little tale created.
