was a time when Terrigal and the Central Coast region of New South Wales was a sleepy country area of the condition that only came to life briefly over the summer holidays. Then the F3 Freeway from Sydney was finished in 1987. Since then, Terrigal and the rest of the Central Coast has turned into a favorite escape for Sydneysiders all year 'round.

While Terrigal has never been a populated suburb, it has always been looked at as the Central Coast's most upscale neighborhood. The establishment of the big, upscale spa changed the surface of the village, leading to the establishment of several fashionable boutiques, gourmet restaurants as well as other businesses. Nevertheless, they never pushed the older institutions out of town and you can still enjoy bass and chips from a pavement cafe or buy your surfing gear from a search shop which has been established for 20 years or even more.

Terrigal - The fact that Terrigal, while certainly an upscale community, retains many of its older, more modest establishments is certainly one of its charms. This is a location where you can feel comfortable in a pair of board shorts, a tee top and flip flop sandals, even while you're enjoying a gourmet brunch outside an alfresco cafe. As you sip a cappuccino, just across the street, surfers will be checking out the waves out at the Destination, households will undoubtedly be frolicking in the waves in front of the Terrigal Surf Life Saving Club under the careful eye of the lifeguards and "Mums and Dads" will probably be waiting for a big serving of fish and chips wrapped in paper to remove to the beach for lunch.

One other great point about Terrigal is the fact that, unlike so many urban beaches, you don't even need to get in your car and drive-in order to find a quiet expanse of beach to relax. Basically walk up the shore towards Wamberal and before you know it, you are in another world; the world the locals appreciate. There appears to become a charming dividing point between Terrigal and its predominantly residential neighbour: cross that line and you can actually feel the difference.

Its central location and many conveniences makes Terrigal a best place to make your home while you're travelling in the Central Coast. From there, you can easily reach the other Central Coast communities, each of which has its special atmosphere. For example, Avoca Beach, just south of Terrigal, is among Australia's most famous surfing towns. Like Terrigal, Avoca has become busier over time, but, also like Terrigal, it has a haven of harmony within simple walking distance at North Avoca.

Traveling in the other way, you come to the Entry. The Entrance, a bigger community, is mainly a family destination and has a clearly different feeling.

Staying at an upmarket resort like Crowne Plaza is not a prerequisite, although Terrigal has an upmarket reputation. In precisely the same way that you could select between a fish and nick feed for the entire family or an intimate candlelit dinner for two, you have your pick of Terrigal accommodations.
