On Oct 23, 2013 Panama’s public work department (Ministerio de Obras Publicas de Panama) awarded Conalvias Construction Company an agreement for a project worth close to 185 million dollars.

The new contract culminates the research, design, construction, funding and maintenance of the recovery along with growth work on the panamerican road. The project calls for an extension of 39.79 km all through San Juan - La Pita within a 3 year execution period from December 2013 to December 2016. Additionally, the Panamá Canal Authority (Autoridad del Canal de Panamá) granted Conalvias Construction with a $16 million contract for erosion control in the Mamei curve in Gatun Lake, located in the Panamá province. The erosion project includes the construction of an intransitive coated with a protective rockfill.
