was a period when Terrigal and the Central Coast region of New South Wales was a tired country place of the state that only came to life briefly over-the summer holidays. Then the F3 Freeway from Sydney was completed in 1987. Since then, Terrigal and the remainder of-the Central Coast has changed into a favored getaway for Sydneysiders all year 'round.

While Terrigal has never been a populated suburb, it has ever been looked at as the Central Coast's most upscale community. This name was cemented further when the Peppers Resort (now Crowne Plaza) was erected. The establishment of the large, upscale spa changed the face of the village, leading to the establishment of many trendy boutiques, fine dining restaurants and other businesses. However, they never forced the older institutions out of town and you can nonetheless enjoy bass and chips from a pavement cafe or buy your surfing supplies from a browse shop which has been established for twenty years or even more.

restaurants - The fact that Terrigal, while undoubtedly an upscale community, keeps many of its older, more modest establishments is one among its charms. It is a location where you are able to feel comfortable in some of boardshorts, a tee top and flip-flop sandals, even when you're enjoying a gourmet brunch outside an alfresco restaurant. While you sip a cappuccino, just across the road, surfers will undoubtedly be checking out the waves out at the Destination, households will likely be frolicking in the waves in front of the Terrigal Surf Life Saving Club under the watchful attention of the lifeguards and "Mums and Dads" will likely be waiting for a huge portion of fish and chips wrapped in paper to defeat to the shore for lunch.

Another wonderful point about Terrigal is the fact that, unlike so many city beaches, you really do not actually have to get in your car and drive in order to find a quiet stretch of shore to relax. Basically walk up the seashore towards Wamberal and before you know it, you come in a different world; the world the locals love. There seems to become a bewitching dividing point between Terrigal and its mainly residential neighbour: cross that line and you can actually sense the difference.

Its lots of conveniences and central location makes Terrigal a best place to make your home while you're travelling on the Central Coast. From there, you can easily reach the additional Central Coast communities, each of which has its special feeling. For example, Avoca Beach, just south of Terrigal, is one of Australia's most famous surfing towns. Like Terrigal, Avoca has become busier over the years, but, also like Terrigal, it has a sanctuary of harmony within simple walking distance at North Avoca.

Touring in the other direction, you come to the Entry. The Entrance, a bigger community, has a distinctly different feeling and is mainly a family group destination.

Although Terrigal has an upmarket reputation, staying at an upmarket spa like Crowne Plaza is not a condition. In precisely the same manner you could select from a fish and nick feed for the whole family or a romantic romantic dinner for two, you get your pick of Terrigal accommodations. It is just one more purpose why Terrigal is such a good option as your "base camp" for a Central Coast holiday.
