University planning is often as tough for mom and dad as it is for high school pupils. University choices may be restricted by low SAT or other test scores. Timing the test taking for a pupil's program can be just as significant as what exam preparation is given. Juniors commonly take the PSAT in Oct. Final results are returned to the student 60 days later, giving 3-4 months until the actual exam. Your student's schedule may conflict with that timetable and cause an overload of work.

Being prepared for the ACT or ISEE involves more than merely staying current on normal school activities, and also includes extra learning and instructing time. This time needs to be scheduled for tutoring and added review into a previously full daily schedule. If your pupil is engaged in sporting activities or other projects, including any additional work could be counter-productive. If your child carries a thorough scholastic load, prep during the summer time months is the best alternative.

Academically, the majority of young people have learned all the critical ideas after their sophomore year. If all things are equal, I advocate working with the more common timeframe. Of course, during the junior year, students will still be building important vocabulary and writing skills, although most have already learned the maths. However to my mind, the importance of scheduling the program when the student has the time to get the full benefit of it outweighs other factors.
