I determined to make a big stained glass window in our living room. Since I was younger, I enjoyed the appearance of stained glass when the light catches it and I have always wanted it in my very own home when I could afford it. After taking a few soldering classes I felt confident enough to make my own stained glass window. I had all the products I needed, liquid flux no clean, soldering flux pen, lead solder wire and soldering iron wire. I planned on putting copper foil on it as well to make it look a little like a Tiffany lamp. My family was amazed by the amount of thought I have put into the project but by staying focused and observing each information I was sure I could possibly make something gorgeous. It started out promising. I had the ability to select the best glass pieces and was able to fit everything together so it was only a matter of putting it together. The first thing that went wrong was that I used silver soldering wire at first. This caused everything to look a little off and the metal did not all match. I figured it would not matter since I would put copper all over it so I continued. Then it got too hot and the glass started cracking. I took a break at this point to not get distressed. I was so astounded that I was having such a difficult time. When I returned to it I attempted using a different sort of solder liquid flux. The solder was still breaking the glass and after I had ripped through half of my glass I decided it was time to get innovative. I began making a brand new collage of the glass and attempted to make it beautiful. After days of work I finally made it work. I focused on each small fragment of glass and was able to finally put it together. It was abstract and did not have any pattern to it but I thought it was a distinct piece that would work completely in our living room. As soon as everything was set I finally was confident enough to put it in our window. Our living room has a big box window that was perfect for a stained glass window in the center. I thoroughly took out the main pane and replaced it with the stained glass pane. I stood back and the sun shone through all the lively colors. Regretfully, my partner and children were away on a camping trip so I had to wait and see exactly what they thought in a few days. Until then I gazed at the window throughout sunny afternoons or in the early morning as I appreciated my morning coffee while making considering the effort I had done. When my family came home I could hardly wait to reveal them my work. My spouse and children ran to see it and stared at it for about a minute. I looked at them, worried, and asked them they thought. My 14-year-old son looks at me and eloquently says, "Mom, it kind of looks like Seth Rogen." soldering iron wire
