The sound of snoring is brought on by the airways in your nose and throat being partly or completely blocked. It causes dilemmas for both individual and anyone who sleeps with or near them.

Sleep apnea can be a much more serious situation that occurs if the air congestion causes one to stop breathing at least 5 times a time, for over 10 seconds each time. Sleep apnea is a dangerous situation that may fundamentally lead to death.

If you are suspected of experiencing sleep apnea, your physician may request you to own your nose and throat examined to get any obvious causes of obstruction. This may include an anatomical abnormality or nasal polyps. The exam is managed with either an endoscopic exam or a CT scan.

After the initial diagnosis is done you'll be provided for a sleep lab where you will undergo a report of your sleeping habits.

A sleep study monitors the body as you sleep. A few of the dimensions that will be tracked include:

- blood oxygen levels

- blood pressure

- heartrate

- air-flow

- chest & diaphragm movement

- head activity

You'll stay overnight in a particular sleep research where these tests will be completed with equipment that's attached to you while you sleep. (It is not-as bad as it appears - you'll manage to sleep!)

If you should be diagnosed with sleep apnea, you'll probably be told to prevent any kind of sleep medications and alcohol. If you should be overweight, you'll be recommended to lose the excess weight. You may even be told to begin sleeping on your part.

These three simple things can be enough to fix the problem.

If this isn't enough to remedy the situation, you might undergo other sleep apnea solutions including positive pressure ventilation, in which you'll be given a tightly fitting nasal mask through which air is moved. The increased air pressure can help keep your airways open.

If these solutions still don't solve the problem, you might have to undergo surgery.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) could be the most frequent form of the situation and generally responds to treatment. Central sleep apnea, where there might be brain or nerve damage, is usually much less attentive to therapy. In these cases you will need to treat them with drugs that excite your breathing. orange county dentists
