About 3 weeks back my work mate David reported a completely shocking accident. He had made up his mind to replace his old GU10 halogen spotlights with LED retrofit bulbs (the old halogen bulbs were costing a lot of money in electricity monthly). He'd purchased 8 of the LED replacements on the internet and they turned out to be cheap enough at £3.00 for each one. As soon as they arrived he took out the existing units and started changing them with the just arrived LEDs. It was when he was installing number three that he got the electric shock. Luckily it was not a huge shock but sufficient to make him jump. Now Dave had switched off the lights prior to taking out the old bulbs but Dave's daughter had entered the room and turned on the lights at the moment when Dave was fitting the third bulb - she hadn't known what Dave was up to. It turns out that the LED bulbs had been cheaply manufactured (Dave has an electronics engineer brother who stripped a bulb down and checked it). The circuitry within was faulty and poorly insulated from the metal body of the bulb. Dave had been extremely lucky - he could have received a much more powerful have been returned to the supplier and Dave is waiting to receive his money back (they have agreed to one however he hasn't got it yet). I've also made the decision to change some halogen spotlights in my home with LED versions. They cost far less to run, they're nice and bright and they last far longer than older lights. Due to David's close call I made sure to thoroughly research LED bulbs before choosing a brand. It turns out that in the United Kingdom many thousands of potentially faulty LED bulb units have been found and confiscated by the Trading Standards Authority at United Kingdom ports like Felixstowe (10,000 retrofit LED bulbs inside one shipment were intercepted there very recently). It'sIt is essential to buy from a reputable and trustworthy business selling quality LED lighting parts. There are so many low quality LED bulbs available but many are fake CE labelled (many Chinese manufacturers will simply mark whatever the client asks for) and are potentiallypossiblyquite possibly dangerous. I finally ordered mine from the online retail giant Amazon (despite the fact that there are cheap quality brands on there too) but I ensured the points below before ordering by making a Google search of their name Which could be seen on their listing on Amazon -the GU10 LEDs were made by a well-known manufacturer (LED Switchover) -the factory specialised in LED bulbs only -they were long-established -the supplier had a website with complete contact information -all the products were guaranteed for best quality and safety -all the LED bulbs were genuinely CE and FCC certified -they had excellent client comments I have always been a huge fan of Amazon because of their rapid shipping plus Amazon's full satisfaction guarantee so that's why I ordered my GU10 LEDs from them. They also followed up with really outstanding communication, to ensure I had received the items and that I was completely satisfied with them. Dig up extra info on this related URL by clicking More about this GU10 led bulbs product. I also got some very useful pointers on how to get the maximum out of my purchase - top stuff By now you can see I'm completely happy with my purchase from Amazon. If you are looking for LED bulbs, particularly the GU10 4W warm white stype which I bought then I will highly recommend ordering the LED Switchover ones via Amazon. I encourage you to click the link and order yours right away and discover for yourself how brilliant they are. And remember to tell me how you get on.
