Rajas could be the power of change, action and motion. Rajas may be the energy of fire and love. Rajasic energy is also linked to the day light hours. We obviously need rajasic energy to make energy to move properly during our world and lives. Once we have an excessive amount of rajasic ene... Perhaps you have learned about the Gunas? No, they are maybe not Disney characters In accordance with yoga you can find three basic qualities or powers that make up anything. They are, rajas, sattva and tamas. Rajas is the energy of change, motion and movement. Rajas may be the energy of fire and passion. Rajasic power can be from the day light hours. We clearly need energy to generate energy to maneuver effectively through the duration of our society and lives. Go go go, do do do, when we have an excessive amount of rajasic power we may possibly appear to the outside world as acutely busy Does this sound as if you? Maintaining a high degree of rajasic power results in burn out When rajas has gone out of harmony the body and mind are overstimulated, the mind becomes restless and you experience lots of uncontrollable thoughts. Foods that are rajasic include hot food, fried foods, espresso / caffeinated beverages/ stimulants/ fish, eggs, chocolate, foods that are very bitter, bad, dry and salty. Eating in a hurry can also be considered rajasic Tamas may be regarded as the contrary of rajas. Tamasic energy is of a state-of inactivity and inertia, heaviness and darkness. When tamas is out of harmony your ability to reason becomes clouded and you may go through the darker emotions including anger or greed. Tamasic energy is present all through night-time, just as there is more rajasic energy present in daylight hours. People that are very tamasic might be frustrated or appear lazy. In most cases dis-ease states are tamasic. Samples of tamasic food include beef, alcohol, cigarette, onions, fermented ingredients vinegar or strong cheese, old food or over ripe food, very prepared food or chemically-treated. Overeating is known as tamasic. Sattva is energy that is in a state of harmony and stability. Good psychological and emotional states of pleasure and intelligence are associated with sattva. A person who was experiencing a lot of sattvic energy would appear very happy. Sattvic energy is also in keeping with therapeutic states and in Ayurveda (yogas sister research) sattvic energy is earnestly cultivated. Sattvic power is most present through the times between light and dark- in other words sunset and dawn. Someone on the yogic path is targeted on devel-oping sattva and that is why yoga asana and relaxation are simply conducted at today. Foods which are sattvic include beans, vegetables and fresh fruits, real juice, whole grains, milk, butter, nuts, seeds, sprouted seeds, honey and herb teas. It's important to recognize that we all have all three gunas within us. And while this is true we tend to have a predominant guna. In line with the points above can you determine what yours is? It's great to be aware of this because once you're aware of your main guna then you can predict how might react to certain life circumstances as well know your strengths and weaknesses. Youll know when you'll are generally cast out of balance and what you will have to do to bring yourself back in balance. You also may have situations in our lives when one guna is more effective then still another. Perhaps you have very successful (rajasic) and very active time. Or a period if you have been frustrated (tamasic). Or even a time when we're very healthy and in tune with your spirituality (satvic). Yet another way the gunas appear in our lives and directly effect people is through the food we eat. Con-sider for a moment the typical American diet with overly refined and chemically treated foods that are very tamasic. Modern science now confirms these foods are directly connected to major illnesses including cancer, diabetes, obesity and heart disease. As stated above too much tamasic power contributes to infection states. We also understand that foods within their full kind including grains, fresh fruits and vegetables (sattvic foods) are life sustaining and bring health and energy. Can you practice yoga postures (asana)? How can the gunas show up here? Is your asana practice passionate and hot? Was your practice was slow and lazy? Or was it healthy? It is probably becoming clear to you right now that to be healthy, happy, and live a stability life it's very important to cultivate sattva inside your life. This is done by Reducing rajas and tamas Becoming conscious of when you are out of balance- which guna seems many present? Increase situations and activities that create positive thoughts Eating a healthy, sattvic focused diet Certain herbs (subject for another post) The practice of yoga pranayama (breathing practices), asana (postures), yoga.
